Birmingham v Ipswich KOC June 3rd
Aries replied to Arch Stanton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
R/R for Doyle, Hodder in for Thompson who gets his expected 3 duck eggs, and guest Nicholls scores 4 with two exclusions, and Ipswich STILL win. LOL -

I’m hearing Thompson is a doubt with illness also and Ipswich have another rider on standby. Much has been made of meetings being postponed unnecessarily this season but I think this is a case of a meeting that is justified in being postponed. It’s starting to look a bit farcical. -

Well depleted and under strength are completely different things. “Understrength” is also completely deceptive in this case because Doyle is missing. Looking at those two line ups, you’d be a brave mad to predict an away win here. -

Eh? There’s only one depleted side here and it isn’t Birmingham! -

Aries replied to SuperStarsFan91's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Interesting few days ahead. With Louis being at the GP commentating chances are he done a deal with somebody there last night you’d think. Probably spoke to all of them, did any shake his hand though that’s the big question. Time will tell -

You lot carry on like you didn’t axe two Brits on “deadline day”. -

As exciting as Zmarzlik would be obviously, I wouldn’t be confident he’d do the business here. He’s another you’d have concerns about what you’d actually get from him here in terms of effort and commitment. I think Madsen would be more suited, or Lambert. But you’re right, whoever it is won’t match Doyle here. -
Cook is crap at Ipswich. Scored 5, 4 and 5 last year for Peterborough, and a big fat zero for Belle Vue this year! Batch a far better bet.

Ipswich should look in to signing a GP rider (or ex) as a 28 day injury replacement for Doyle. That will at least ease the burden on finding a suitable guest for Ellis with King the nearest to return. The worry is, making sure the riders are properly fit before bringing them back in. Bringing them back half fit and struggling on track brings just as many problems as fielding inferior guests! Chuck some of Guy’s notes at Dudek for a month.

Birmingham v Ipswich Mon 27th May PL
Aries replied to Brummies_Ste's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Oh come on I know you’ll want to justify a win by making claims you’d have won anyway even if Ipswich were at full strength but we all know that’s not true. Klindt 7 points from 6 rides and Batchelor 6 points from 5 isn’t particularly impressive. I think King and Ellis would have improved on that. End of the day a win is a win, Birmingham were handed a golden opportunity and grabbed it with both hands which is all that matters. -

Looking forward to this. Two evenly matched teams on paper, could be very close. -

It isn’t you who’s confused it’s old Jonny not for the first time! You’ll soon realise as most fans do when they sign him, that a major drawback of signing Ellis is getting his bellend of a father piping up on your threads spouting his utter drivel. -
Pipe down Geoffrey. How many accounts have you got on here by the way? One account with your drivel is more than enough.

They haven’t sacked a couple of Brits so get back in your box. -

Bloody hell, the easiest fixture for Ipswich on paper and you could now probably write this one off! What Ipswich and the injured riders should guard against, is being tempted to return too early because of the situation. The worse thing you could do is rush a return and aggravate the injuries and face a longer spell on the sidelines. Heard King is pushing to return possibly Thursday, not sure myself.. -

Think you’re being a bit reactionary to Thursdays poor performance. And yes, it was a dreadful performance but to be fair to the lad, that’s the first real stinker he’s had. Over all meetings last year, Rew averaged 4.43 with a GSA of 3.74. This season so far, he’s averaging 5.51 with a GSA of 4.76. While not pulling up any trees by any means, he’s averaging just over a point more so far than last year so definite signs of improvement. -

I edited my post it’s not 4 years because there’s two fixtures a year, so only two year! Not too bad -

Aries replied to SuperStarsFan91's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Alright no need to get prickly! LOL. Just hard to believe that stat that’s all. No cup meetings so for 2 years you’ve lost at home to your nearest rivals? Have you lost both meetings for the last two years against anyone else? -

Ipswich have won their last 4 visits to Lynn is that right? That’s a bit embarrassing to say the least to lose your last 4 home meetings to your local rivals! -
King’s Lynn vs Ipswich - Thurs 23rd May
Aries replied to SuperStarsFan91's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
There’s next to no rain forecast for Sheffield between now and the meeting tomorrow. Certainly nothing that would put the meeting in danger. Same for this fixture. Nothing forecast so if it were to be postponed it would have by now. -
King’s Lynn 2024 serious team predictions
Aries replied to SuperStarsFan91's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
An awful lot of promotors have their clubs as their sole source of income. If you believe the narrative that they all lose money running them because “of their true love of the sport” then you also probably believe in the tooth fairy. -
King’s Lynn vs Sheffield, May 16th 2024
Aries replied to SuperStarsFan91's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Possibly, I’ve no idea to be honest as I don’t fly. Like I say, if that’s a concern to a promotion then don’t sign any foreign based riders. Many clubs fly riders in from abroad but don’t call off meetings a day or more before meetings. I’d say there’s a caveat to that though if the forecast is for a complete washout. Even though forecasts change it’s doubtful they’d change that much if the forecast is for heavy rain all day. Birmingham called their meeting the day before the other day but that one you could understand more as the forecast was terrible. -
King’s Lynn vs Sheffield, May 16th 2024
Aries replied to SuperStarsFan91's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
A perfect example of forecasts being totally unreliable until the actual day. If every club is going to start postponing meetings every time there is a ropey forecast 24 hours or more the meeting then it would cause chaos to the sport here. @Bagpuss makes the point about the expense of flying riders in from abroad if a meeting gets postponed but if that is a concern to promotions then the simple answer is don’t sign any! Sign a team of British based riders. -
King’s Lynn vs Sheffield, May 16th 2024
Aries replied to SuperStarsFan91's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Come off it Kelvin you’re making excuses to defend your club and your promotion. It isn’t currently the “right call” at all, and people need to stop using that after rain hits as a way of justifying such an early call off. If it pi$$es down all day tomorrow it still won’t justify calling it off more than 24 hours beforehand on a ropey forecast. As has already been said, what is the harm in waiting until tomorrow morning when the forecast will be much more accurate? At the moment, forecast is for rain to end around 2 o clock leaving 5 and a half hours for the track to dry and be worked on. Are the track staff not capable of doing that? Again as has already been said, if rain is forecast pack the track down hard to limit the damage giving you plenty of time to get it in to shape before 7.30. -

This in a nutshell. It seems as if all the stars have to align perfectly for a meeting to go ahead. Perfect weather, every single rider available etc. all just looks a very tired set up to me.
