King's Lynn v Ipswich KO Cup SF 1st leg 02/06/25

Difficult to prove either way isnāt it? It happened earlier in the season. He WAS struggling with a bit of an injury at that time though if my memory isnāt letting me down, but itās something thatās open to abuse. Itās basically a free tactical substitute isnāt it? A rider at rising star shouldnāt in any circumstances, be replaced by a senior reserve. If a rising star is injured and canāt take remaining programmed rides, then that team has to take the bad luck and go with one rider. -

Wonder if weāll see a repeat of Boughen pulling out after a ride(s), and a GP rider taking his remaining programmed ridesā¦. -

Not sure Jenkins is in good form? Heās struggling a little with a reoccurring injury that heās aggravated recently. Pulled out of his last ride for Oxford last week. There were two tracks I was almost sure Ipswich would be winning at, one is Leicester, and the other is here. Our riders go very well at both tracks. But that was with a full strength side. Weāve lost the worst two riders we could have at both important ends of the team. Thompson was averaging more than Emil this year and second in our averages behind Doyle. When heās replaced by someone scoring two or three points at reserve, thatās a huge swing in the overall score. -

I personally think this gets overplayed. Harris is nowhere near as bad as his reputation suggests. Emil on the other hand, is one of the worst gaters Iāve ever seen. It may well be his diminutive size meaning he canāt get his weight over the top of the bike to fully let the clutch go, but his starting technique is awful. -

Harris is a better gater than Emil! Iām not kidding either. Take your point about the Lynn track, he may feel confident enough to give it a bit more of a go with the wider surface weāll see. -

Canāt see Emil hitting 16 either. I think itās time to accept that this Emil isnāt the same Emil we saw before his crash at Sheffield. Heās clearly riding within himself and not taking any risks. Heās sat behind reserves this year and shut off the throttle when heās got to their back wheel, sitting behind gusts at Foxhall for four laps a prime example. This will be an issue because Emil if often outgated and itās the weakest part of his game. Lynn also have good trappers in the team so Iām not expecting him to hit the same big numbers he has the last couple of seasons. The gloves will probably come off in September for the play offs when the Polish season ends which I suppose is all that matters. -

Iāll be absolutely staggered if Brennan, King and Ellis only muster 17 between the three of them. Lynn is one of their better away tracks. -
Lynn are woefully slow in getting previews and information out at the best of times. I know the Ipswich admin has been left frustrated many times in recent seasons waiting for declarations from Lynn so the Ipswich admin could get the meeting previews up. Wouldnāt bet against them already knowing heāll not ride tomorrow if he is intent on not riding. Weāll probably find out at some point tomorrow.

Even with the injury issues I didnāt see Leicester beating us at home either. Weāre having a bit of a wobble at the moment and the two missing are the worst possible absentees at the top and bottom of the team.
-
Just looked at this years stats, Dan averaging 8 with bonus this season, and averaging MORE than Emil away from Foxhall so far š³ Lynn have a golden chance to make the final of the Cup. And once in the final, anything can happen. Thereās only two trophies to go for so even if Lynn donāt make the play offs, if they can walk off with the KOC then itās been a successful season. More so than us cos despite being big favourites, could end up walking away with nothing.
-
Weāve got to weather the storm here for a while. Youād think weāll be without Doyle for a few weeks more now after last nights setback and Dan is a massive miss. Brennan also is suffering a real dip in form, not sure whatās wrong with him at the moment. The important thing is to have everyone fit and firing for the play offs but the KOC has come at a poor time for us. Was a forgone conclusion that we were getting through that tie with Lynn with all due respect, but now Iād say itās 50/50. Itās now we need Emil to stand up and be counted. Heās looked untouchable for the majority of the last two seasons hitting maximums for fun, but heās looked a level below that this year.
-
Correct. Complaining of pain āin the same areaā. Why not just wait another week or two? Bloody daft to be risking the injury with so much of the season to go whether he was getting pressure from Poland or not. Ordinary riders would have simply managed the injury by backing out of 50/50ās and not taking any chances but thatās not in his DNA is it. Itās all or nothing with him.

Ipswich Witches v Leicester Lions - Thursday, 22nd May
Aries replied to tocha's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Bit of a red herring that. The team was obliterated by injury and Ellis then crashed out of the meeting in his opening ride. -
Have you mentioned October before? Not sure if youāve mentioned it or not š
-
Without changes? I bet it doesnāt.
-
You said it. Iām not trawling through old threads, but you 100% said it. Your exact words were āIām confident my team is the best whatās wrong with thatā in response to someone heckling you over your predictions.
-
Thatās what I said no? Changes will have to be made if youāre going to challenge because the team you have now simply isnāt good enough! Itāll scrape you in to the play offs possibly, but thatās it. Unless of course you again take advantage of other clubās misfortune with injuries which is always possible.
-
Why not? According to you pre-season you were confident you had the best team so no need to change anybody. Right?
-
Brennan should have been excluded. I hate the fact the refereeās always thinks when a rider goes down on the first bend then itās all four back. There was nobody near him he spun off on his own. I was very surprised to see Kvech in heat 1. Made more sense to put Klindt in 1 seeing as he was always going to get seven rides.
