  1. Halifax Tigers seems to disprove that theory - he seems to really have enjoyed yesterday's meeting and he's a neutral. All the best Rob
  2. I believe Tom Bacon will be at No 6 for the Stags. All the best Rob
  3. No-one currently films the Scunny meetings. GRT Media filmed until early in 2012, Clean Cut Sports did some meetings later in 2012, including the Play-Off Final. All the best Rob
  4. Maybe it was a bit harsh, and yes you're right, it was a superb performance from Scunny. Josh Auty's ride in Heat 13, in particular was quite brilliant. He really was feeling below the weather, he spent his time between heats slumped in a chair in the pits. To go out and dash from last to first while feeling like that really shows commitment. And David Howe was masterful, considering he had to do much of the work from the back. Add in a highly competitive outing from Tommy The Gun (he so much deserved a point for his efforts in that blockbuster Heat 15) plus the guests all chipping in - although it seems strange to call Mattie Orange a guest, he's one or our lads - and we just had too much. As for Ipswich, yes you're right "poor" is not the word to describe that team. But they have been found wanting at the most crucial part of the season. Maybe "unable to lift themselves at crucial times" is a fairer description. With the way this play-off group has played out, the final place was theirs for the taking. Maybe they'll prove me wrong, but I think a heavy defeat awaits them next Friday, leaving the Witches to then dwell on what could have been. Scunny have the excuse of being decimated by injury. With a full side I'm convinced we could have taken a point at Ippo (we were doing OK there until Nicolai crashed out, even without any firepower at reserve due to Ash's absence), and also taken all three points from Somerset last Friday. If so, we'd have 7 points and be on the brink on the final. But what's Ipswich's excuse? They've had almost a full team for the play-offs. They looked unconvincing early doors against Scunny, failed to take full advantage of Somerset's problems at Foxhall, and then lost to a Scunny side with only three of its declared 1-7, one of whom was ill. Ipswich should be in the final by now. All the best Rob
  5. Great night of racing, especially Heats 13 & 15.... Scunny showed what might have been, while Ipswich really should have taken a point at the very minimum. Ipswich seem quite a poor team, who are only doing any good in the play-offs because of injuries to other sides. I think the Witches will be found out at Somerset next Friday. All the best Rob
  6. It really is high time that Mick Horton was kicked out of speedway once and for all. All the best Rob
  7. Who died and made you god? If I want to sign my posts, I'll sign my posts. All the very bestest and with fondest love, Rob xxxxx
  8. Scunny team for tonight is here: http://scunthorpescorpions.co/?p=2104 Ricky Wells and Wilko are the guests. Kyle Newman was going to be the guest at Somerset on Wednesday, but pulled out taking a knock to the knee at King's Lynn on Monday. All the best Rob
  9. Tomorrow is now the key. Ipswich win or draw - they are through Ipswich lose - Somerset are probably through. Wilko in for Ashley Birks. All the best Rob
  10. Aha, now that's something we can agree on. Yup the ref didn't get control of the starts at all last Thursday. Several races had ragged starts. All the best Rob (still trying to work out how signing a message is condescending, when it's actually general politeness - oh well, takes all sorts...)
  11. It was just a post-meeting forum discussion, nothing more. It's ages since I bumped into Mr Love (used to a fair amount when Oxford fans used to stand on the back straight). As for Klindt, I don't think he has ridden for Eastbourne (maybe as a guest at some point). His British clubs (may have missed one or two) have been Wolves, King's Lynn, Peterborough, Scunny, Swindon and Leicester. All the best Rob
  12. Scunny are one of the few teams who can push Somerset around their place. It's a real shame we're missing Nicolai Klindt at the OTA, but Kyle Newman is a decent replacement. Don't 100% rule out Scunny on Wednesday. All the best Rob
  13. I'm not unhappy about it - it just deserved comment on it. That's kind-of what a forum is for. All the best Rob
  14. I like Kyle - he's a nice lad. When Oxford were in a second half at Swindon in 2012, he came along to mechanic for Brendan Johnson, and ended up helping out Ross Walter with his bikes as well. Without Kyle, we'd have run out of working bikes! He should be a very good guest. All the best Rob
  15. So you're defending cheering when a rider suffers a huge and alarming crash - and even worse, booing when he gets to his feet - simply because he moved at the start a bit. And yet you've got Rohan Tungate in your team, a guy who never stays still at the tapes. Pot, kettle and black. Cheers Mr Love - it means a lot. All the very best Rob
  16. Match No 5 in Play-Off Group B. The Scorpions could go into this meeting needing a big home win, while the Witches will have a better idea after the previous night's home meeting with Somerset as to what they need from this fixture. The regular league match resulted in a 55-38 win for the Scorpions, despite taking their foot off the gas in the final stages. Bound to be another cracker around the EWR. All the best Rob
  17. Meeting No 4 in Play-Off Group B. Somerset have been hammered twice at Ippo in 2014... they'll want to avoid that again, especially given that Ipswich already have a good race points difference after last week's 57-35 win over half a Scunthorpe team. Ipswich will be after all 3 points, mindful Somerset have already picked up one away point in the group. All the best Rob
  18. Match No 3 in Play-Off Group B. Scunthorpe need at least a point (preferably a win) to stay in contention, while the Rebels will want maximum points prior to their visit to their bogey track Ipswich on Thursday. Former Rebel Kyle Newman is set to guest for Scunny. Should be a good meeting. All the best Rob
  19. True. But it can be seen, simply by looking at the scorecard, that both teams suffered exclusions during the course of the meeting. I consider Josh's exclusion from Heat 9 to be contentious, the Rebels consider Nick's tapes exclusion from Heat 6 to be the same. Swings & roundabouts. All the best Rob
  20. Can't Peterborough run this on a Tuesday? It is their race-day. All the best Rob
  21. HT, I was there on Friday as a neutral Oxford fan (quickly hides the Scunny jacket and programme board) I still think the ref's decisions on Friday were six one way and half a dozen the other. I don't think it really had a major bearing on the result - both teams had things go against them at one point or another. Scunny deserved the win, while Somerset deserved the point. All the best Rob
  22. Decisions weren't all the one way, though. How about Nick Morris getting away with Josh Auty's fall in Heat 9. Ref's decisions balanced themselves out and best team on the night won. All the best Rob
  23. No it wasn't. The cheering I heard was directly after Nicolai fell off. I overheard one guy say: "Serves him right." And then there was booing when Nicolai got to his feet. I think the Ippo fans - well a section of them in any case - are the worst in British Speedway. All the best Rob
  24. R/R for Klindt, Hugh Skidmore for Douglas and Ashley Birks is back! All the best Rob
  25. I doubt it - surely Ippo and Scunny fans will watch this rather than a watered-down ELRC. All the best Rob
