  1. So you think a league containing only 9 teams to begin with, would be better without 2 of those teams. Complete rubbish. I very much hope Cradley can run, the more teams at NL level the better. One question: if Scunny hadn't run in 2014, then who would given a team place to Arron Mogridge or Sam Chapman? Both are now established as decent middle-orders riders in the NL, and I wouldn't be surprised if they were heat leader standard (on 7.00-9.00 averages) by the end of next season. Without the opportunites of a team place with the Stags this season, where would they be? Probably still on the outside looking in. All the best Rob
  2. I'm not the one missing the point. If a team used R/R against the Stags and gave their heat leaders an extra ride each, rather than a No 8, then who was it pushing up the wage bill? Or how a team coming at Scunthorpe with a guest in his 40s? Plus Scunny's scores weren't that different from everyone else e.g. Scunny scored a point more than Stoke at Mildenhall, and several other teams only scored just a few more points than the Stags at Cradley. All the best Rob
  3. Complete and utter nonsense, and an argument that is out-of-date. The Stags were competitive by the end of the season. All the best Rob
  4. OXFORD Speedway Supporters’ Club are holding a Sportsman’s Dinner at the Kidlington Green Social Club in Green Road, Kidlington on Saturday, November 8th (7pm). There will be a hot and cold buffet, and two special guests telling stories about their time in the sport and answering questions. The two guests are Rob Godfrey & David Howe. Godfrey is the current promoter at Scunthorpe Speedway, arguably the best racetrack in the country, where he has just completed his tenth season in charge. 32-year-old Howe, a former British Under-21 Champion with Grand Prix experience, has been riding speedway since the age of 15 in 1997, and rode for the Oxford Cheetahs in 2006. Entrance is £6 per person, with Supporters’ Club members receiving a £1 discount. Please email info@ossc.me.uk or phone 07092 893318 if you plan to attend, so that organisers have an idea of numbers.
  5. Congratulations to Cradley on winning the 2014 National League. Hope you are successful in finding a track for 2015. All the best Rob
  6. What a shame. I saw the track in 2011, but no racing on it, after two very heavy rain showers. A real shame that our coach departed before I could meet Ghostwalker as well. All the best Rob
  7. If tomorrow was a problem, then why wasn't the re-staging date tonight? All the best Rob
  8. Decided against this meeting. Even if Coventry do get it on, I have no confidence in them being able to prepare a half-decent racetrack in wet conditions.... in fact, they can't do that when it's dry. All the best Rob
  9. Having won the NL Pairs, aren't Stoke the only team apart from Cradley likely to win anything at NL this season? All the best Rob
  10. Smug git I would imagine it would be Somerset. All the best Rob
  11. Shame FTM is not still the track curator, this wouldn't have happened on his watch. All the best Rob
  12. Because Sophie Blake is far superior and doesn't ask stupid questions? All the vest Rob
  13. 15.5.2 If the Referee stops a Race and the leading Rider has completed a minimum of 2 laps of the Heat, then the Referee has the sole discretion to order a re-run or award the Heat based upon the Rider’s positions when the Heat was caused to be stopped, with the disqualified Rider being awarded no points and Riders behind in the order being advanced one place. As long as race-leader Cook had completed two laps before the stoppage, the ref has the discretion to award the race. All the best Rob
  14. Um, it was the same meeting, you do realise that? You now have to be nice to Mr. Brum for a whole year. All the best Rob
  15. Davy, by pipping Somerset tonight, you've ensured that the last team to win back-to-back titles at this level remains Glasgow in '93 and '94 All the best Rob
  16. Your team has just won the final. Cheer up you miserable sod :D All the best Rob
  17. Maybe, but it doesn't stop it being a great racetrack. If they could move it away from the M5, I'd go there much more often All the best Rob
  18. Congratulations Edinburgh. It looks like the play-offs have delivered yet again. All the best Rob
  19. Why would I be smug - I'm not a Somerset fan. It's just the laughable attempts to suggest that Somerset is not a good race-track, simply because the Rebels win most of their home meetings by healthy margins. That's complete baloney. It's an excellent race-track... nearly as good as Scunthorpe (you call me smug about that one if you like ). All the best Rob
