I didn't mention National League. I took it from the link you provided, which mentions a possible return in 2023. Hope all goes well!

Good news about a possible 2023 return, especially if Trevor Geer is involved, because he's had close ties with the Dugard family over the years.

Well said. I thought this year was extremely encouraging. Like many others, I was worried by the effect that Covid could have on British speedway. But I've since some really encouraging crowds around this season - IMO the general trend has been up rather than down. And finishing the season in such an exceptional year on November 4th (looking at the forecast, both legs should be OK next week) is hardly the end of the world. I also find it strange that some are criticising the growing practice of calling off meetings earlier rather than later. It used to be extremely bad business to call off a meeting as the last possible minute, when everyone knew that the decision could have been made earlier in the day. While less susceptible to the weather, football has always chosen to postpone earlier rather than later when faced with forecasts of extreme weather. I don't think there's more postponements in speedway now, they're just done earlier and therefore save fans, riders and promotions wasted money. It's simply better business practice. Again, some just take it as another reason to moan, but the genuine supporters who go to meetings appreciate not having their time and money wasted in the way it once was.

Do you ever do anything but moan? Feel sorry for the Kent fans, who bear the brunt of most of your negativity. Many sports have run at irregular times over the last 18 months. Just take a look at when the 2019-2020 football season was eventually completed. I don't think the speedway season having to be extended by just a few days is going to be the end of the world.

Plenty of instances of league and cup deciding meetings being held in November, although less common in recent times. Was a regular occurrence in the 1980s, when they were around double the amount of meetings to fit in as they are now, and quite often teams could not fit in everything by the end of October.

One of the worst away teams I saw at Scunthorpe this year. Gave in without a fight. The likes of Berwick, Birmingham, Redcar, Glasgow and Eastbourne all put up a much better fight. Edinburgh were only better than Kent and Newcastle. The cup is already decided. Better to get in the play-off final while the weather looks alright.

Forecast for Poole looks okay for Wednesday... but not currently okay for Friday. It would make a great deal of sense to switch over the two meetings at Poole, as the second leg of the cup is a "dead rubber" (Pirates can't lose from a 5-point advantage, given Edinburgh are a poor away team) and if that got rained off on Friday, it wouldn't be as potentially problematic, given the poor weather scheduled also for next Saturday and Sunday. Get the play-off final in Wednesday while it's possible.

Watched the stream last night. The stream was very good (although I knew that, already had two from Glasgow this year), while some good racing on display. A real pity about the big crash in Heat 13 and hope the shoulder injuries aren't too bad. Could someone in attendance confirm why there was such a long gap between Heat 8 and Heat 9? It seemed strange to have such a long gap at this point, with the rain on its way. Although I think by the time they'd have sorted out the injury riders from Heat 13, there wouldn't have been a chance to hold the final three races before the rain, even without the extended gap between 8 and 9.

National League 2021 - has it been abandoned?
lucifer sam replied to old bob at herne bay's topic in National League Speedway
Hoping for a double header this Sunday on the 24th! Surely it must be announced soon, if they want people to plan ahead and put it in their diaries!! I guess it can't be this Saturday (23rd), since it will also incorporate Kent v Armadale which can't take place on Saturday, since the Devils are already riding that day. -
Leicester vs Poole semi 2nd leg (prov) Sat 16th

Edinburgh and Glasgow both have top quality streams as well. Watched two from Glasgow, which also has a bonus of being a top racetrack, and one from Edinburgh, which isn't the best track by a long chalk but the stream is good. -

Steve, didn't see you there last night, or I would have come and said hello. Was a pretty good meeting. Best racing I've seen produced at Leicester. -
Leicester vs Scunny 9/10/21
lucifer sam replied to IainB's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
That's going to be the same answer as before, isn't it? And no-one has made anything up. This was a re-scheduled meeting where the original programme was used. Scunthorpe had to make a change to that original line-up and the Scunthorpe team manager clarified that change to the referee before the meeting started. To be honest, this is now going around in circles. A full explanation has been provided. You can read it, and either realise it's a reasonable explanation or continue looking for some weird conspiracy theory which just isn't there. It's up to you if you want to carry on, but I'm not. -

When I spoke to Rob Godfrey, he didn't know where it had originally come from where Adam was reported as ill. Jye Etheridge had been booked on the basis that has average was 25% less than Adam's, because there wasn't a normal facility available for Adam. As has been posted elsewhere on this thread, from Wembley Lion I think, that he was witnessed that the Scunny team manager, Dave Peet, telling the referee of the correct Scunthorpe line-up as booked, as the referee also had the incorrect line-up (the one on the BSPA website).
