  1. Hi there. I haven't spoken to anyone officially, but I would imagine common sense is going to apply if someone doesn't get there until the PL meeting is over. Hope you all have a good afternoon at Scunthorpe Speedway - the weather forecast looks glorious!! All the best Rob
  2. Interesting. So which member of the Peterborough management team is Morrissey Fan? He knows WAY too much otherwise. All the best Rob
  3. Fair point Yeah, not sure why mechanics become involved. A bit of handbags is fine, but it should be between the two riders only (after they've dismounted from the bikes, of course). It's a bit like the GP last year. If Nicki and Sam Masters want to have a barney, that's between them, but why did Nicki's crew pit dive in and confront Masters... no need. All the best Rob (PS I'm ignoring the troll. He obviously just lives to provoke a reaction. Sad, really.)
  4. RIP Ronnie Genz - a true Oxford Cheetahs legend. All the best Rob
  5. Funny, I always thought Monday was the day after Sunday, not before it. Your calendar must be different to everyone else's. I've decided that you're just being deliberately obtuse now. You could go back to the Scunny v Edinburgh thread and find out exactly when I personally found out (posts 16-18), and that would also give you the information as to when both the Edinburgh and Scunthorpe websites were updated (Sunday late morning / early afternoon). It's ironic that you're calling me a 'Phony Poster', when it's becoming clearer that what's you are - a troll. It's a shame really. We used to have some really quality Edinburgh posters, such as the lovely Midnight Lady and King Jamie, and now we're stuck with you. It's just as well this only applies to the BSF, not at meetings. I had an enjoyable time with the Glasgow bunch at Scunny the day after Cardiff, and know it would be the same with Midnight Lady / King Jamie / Davy H etc. All the best Rob
  6. BEN FUND COLLECTION ON MONDAY Scunthorpe Speedway will hold our annual collection for the Speedway Riders' Benevolent Fund on Bank Holiday Monday. Please give generously to this very worthy cause.
  7. Eh? You're bonkers Where did I say the statement was false? It's very clear what the statement says. And what it doesn't say. I said I didn't find out until early Sunday afternoon. Nor did nearly everyone else. Go back to the Scunny v Edinburgh thread and read posts 16, 17 and 18 on the thread. It reveals that I didn't know. Nor did my opposite number who updates the Edinburgh website, well not until late Sunday morning in any case, which is when the Edinburgh website was updated. You seem to be mistaken that either the role of Press Officer or Web Manager are licensed officials - they are not. I've got nothing to retract, since that SMS was not sent to me. I didn't find out until Sunday, along with the Edinburgh web manager. Again, trying to drag the thread back onto topic, job well done by Glasgow last night. I don't think Edinburgh are capable of beating either Glasgow or Somerset on aggregate this season, and they may have to do both, if they are to win a unique hat-trick of league titles at second tier level. All the best Rob
  8. I still haven't got a clue what you're talking about. Go back through the Scunny vs Edinburgh thread and everyone only found about Davey riding early Sunday afternoon. Edinburgh made no mention of Davey in their pre-meeting Press Release. The Edinburgh website included Bewley on Saturday evening, and was edited around Sunday lunchtime. If I recall, there was a discussion between The Scotsman, Blobby and myself about the sudden appearance of Davey on the Edinburgh website. Personally, I edited the Scunny website early afternoon, after reading the Edinburgh website. What about this is false? It's now rather clear that Edinburgh tracked an illegal side that day, and got away with it on a technicality, but you seem unable to admit this. Anyway, back to topic and well done to Glasgow on their aggregate victory. It's nice to see a club who plays it cleanly progress to the next round. All the best Rob
  9. Stop misquoting Ali. Forecast at the moment is a bit gloomy for Sat/Sun, but the sun is coming out on Monday!! All the best Rob
  10. What are you banging on about now? Let's face it, all that rubbish you talked about rule 16.1.3 was just that... rubbish. It didn't apply. If it did, then Bewley would be riding at BV today rather than Edinburgh. Mon the Tigers. All the best Rob
  11. Belle Vue website confirms Nathan Greaves booked by Colts as a guest for Dan Bewley. So, there you go, a re-arranged PL meeting does take priority over a NL meeting, as per 19.9.3, despite the nonsense that was spouted by Cyclone and others on the Scunthorpe v Edinburgh thread. It’s now pretty clear that Edinburgh tracked an illegal side at Scunthorpe, but got away with it, due to a technicality. All the best Rob
  12. For consistency, Bewley should be riding for Belle Vue on Friday over a re-arranged fixture for Monarchs. Either that, or the BSPA/SCB/Edinburgh should acknowledge a mistake was made regarding the Scunthorpe v Edinburgh meeting and award the points from that meeting to the Scorpions. All the best Rob
  13. HENDERSON INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions host Newcastle Diamonds next Monday (3pm) in Premier League action – in a Bank Holiday feast of action at the Eddie Wright Raceway. With the 23-heat Midland Development League Riders’ Championship individual event being held in the second half, there are 38 heats on offer in total. The adult admission price for this bonanza of action is just £17. Scorpions are looking to build on an excellent 54-30 home victory over Workington, as they look to close in further on the teams directly above them at the bottom of the Premier League table. Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “It’s bound to be a cracking afternoon of speedway action. “We had an excellent win over Workington, and we plan to build on that. We’re out to finish our season on a flourish, and part of that involves going unbeaten at home for our remaining meetings. “Newcastle will come here looking for points to consolidate their challenge for a place in the play-offs, and I predict another humdinger of a meeting.”
  14. R/R for Lewis Kerr - who is missing through illness. No issues with the weather. The forecasted rain did not arrive yesterday, and forecast for today is good. All the best Rob
  15. HENDERSON INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions host Workington Comets at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Sunday evening (6.30pm), with promoter Rob Godfrey stating: “We’d like the same level of entertainment on show as in recent home meetings, but with the right result this time!” Even by its own very high standards, the Eddie Wright Raceway has staged some epic speedway meetings in 2016. Bolstered by the signings of Michael Palm Toft and Lewis Kerr in their middle order, Scorpions have proved much more competitive than earlier in the season. But recent results have been frustrating, with the agony of last-heat home defeats against Edinburgh (44-45) and Somerset (43-47). Scunthorpe’s last victory came away at Peterborough on July 12. Godfrey says: “No-one has gone home from the Eddie Wright Raceway feeling short-changed in terms of the racing on display, because the action has been top-notch. “But there’s such a massive difference in mood, between if you win a meeting or lose it. Wins bring smiles to the faces. We’ve been so close against Edinburgh and Somerset, without getting over the line. “I’ve looked at our remaining four home meetings this season, and I honestly believe we can win them all. And if we do that, I think it will haul us off the bottom of the league. We’ve now got the really hard home meetings out of the way. That’s not to say that we will take any of the visiting four teams for granted – we’ve still got a job to do.” Scorpions are due to be at full strength, despite being in the wars at Ipswich last Thursday. Ryan Douglas withdrew from the meeting at Foxhall Heath after damaging his wrist in his opening outing, while Josh Bailey continued on the night with an ankle injury, but was subsequently ruled out of action last weekend. Godfrey explains: “Josh would have normally withdrawn with the knock to his ankle. “But with Ryan out, he knew that we would have been left short in some races if we lost a reserve too, so he bravely soldiered on and completed the meeting. “We had fallers over all the place at Ipswich, because it was one of those nights, so it was a relief none of the knocks to our lads were that serious.” Godfrey also believes that recent signing Austrian Fritz Wallner now has a real chance to kick on for the rest of the season. “It’s never easy coming over to a new country halfway through the season but Fritz has shown a lot of promise”, says Godfrey. “The fan reaction to his home debut against Somerset was very positive. “He had a fairly hectic spell of three meetings in five days for us at Scunthorpe, Somerset and Ipswich, during which he would have learnt a lot about British Speedway and the way that the tracks are prepared over here. “He’s now had the chance to head back home, pick up some different equipment, and I believe he now has a real opportunity to make a name for himself in the closing weeks of the season.” There are 24 heats of action in total on Sunday, with a nine-race second half consisting of a six-heat Midland Development League challenge match between Scunthorpe and Carmarthen, and the vintage bikes of yesteryear in three ‘Blast From The Past’ races. Admission prices for Sunday: Adult: £15.00 Student/OAP: £13.00 Child (10 – 17): £5.00 Child (0 – 9) Free (accompanied by paying adult) Family Ticket £35 (2 adults, 2 Children 10-17) Match Programme: £1.00 Expected teams for Sunday: Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions: 1. Josh Auty, 2. Michael Palm Toft, 3. Lewis Kerr, 4. Fritz Wallner, 5. Ryan Douglas, 6. Carl Wilkinson, 7. Josh Bailey. Workington Comets: 1. Ricky Wells, 2. Mason Campton, 3. Kenneth Hansen, 4. Rasmus Jensen, 5. Claus Vissing, 6. Adam Roynon, 7. Matt Williamson. Midland Development League teams: Scunthorpe Stags: 1. Chris Hay, 2. Lloyd Ditchburn, 3. Sam Chapman, 4. James Chattin. Carmarthen Dragons: 1. Connor Fletcher, 2. Lawrence Fielding, 3. Russell Barnett, 4. Danny Wright.
  16. Sounds nasty!! Get well soon Charlie. All the best Rob
  17. Mars: 1. Marvin The Martian ( c ) 2. Arnold Schwarzenegger 3. Izlyr The Ice Lord 4. Ssssorg The Ice Warrior 5. Little Green Men From Toy Story 6. The Martian Tripods 7. Nicki Pedersen All the best Rob
  18. No he didn't. Payne tried it on after sliding off, and stayed down to try to get a re-run, but it didn't work. Try to be just slightly objective about the meeting. The major questionable decision in the final was Luke Chessell being allowed back into Heat 2, after accidentally collecting Adam Ellis. But it didn't make a lot of difference, since LC eventually fell in the second re-run. Heat 1 was spot on. Perks was cause of stoppage; while Shuttleworth was massively out of order. All the best Rob
  19. So hauling a rider to their feet and punching them is not worthy of exclusion from the meeting? Suggest you restrain yourself on commenting on meetings you actually attend, because no-one in attendance would complain about Shuttleworth's exclusion. Well done Rye House - deserving winners today. All the best Rob
  20. He had a black goggle strap I imagine he brought his helmet colours from the continent. All the best Rob
