  1. Had a spare 15 minutes during my lunchtime at work today, so copied Davey's 2009 figures from the Speedway Star (PT & PL only) into my averages spread-sheet: 04-Apr 5 4 1 CMA 5 4 1 3.20 05-Apr 3 3 0 CMA 8 7 1 3.50 12-Apr 6 11 2 CMA 14 18 3 5.14 13-Apr 3 1 0 CMA 17 19 3 4.47 19-Apr 5 7 1 CMA 22 26 4 4.73 23-Apr 6 6 1 CMA 28 32 5 4.57 25-Apr 6 4 0 CMA 34 36 5 4.24 26-Apr 6 12 3 CMA 40 48 8 4.80 30-Apr 7 10 2 CMA 47 58 10 4.94 03-May 7 8 1 CMA 54 66 11 4.89 17-May 7 9 0 CMA 61 75 11 4.92 29-May 6 4 0 CMA 67 79 11 4.72 31-May 6 7 0 CMA 73 86 11 4.71 04-Jun 7 5 1 CMA 80 91 12 4.55 07-Jun 5 2 1 CMA 85 93 13 4.38 12-Jun 7 3 1 CMA 92 96 14 4.17 14-Jun 5 8 2 CMA 97 104 16 4.29 21-Jun 6 5 2 CMA 103 109 18 4.23 28-Jun 5 2 0 CMA 108 111 18 4.11 04-Jul 6 6 0 CMA 114 117 18 4.11 05-Jul 6 5 2 CMA 120 122 20 4.07 10-Jul 6 8 0 CMA 126 130 20 4.13 12-Jul 4 1 1 CMA 130 131 21 4.03 19-Jul 6 4 2 CMA 136 135 23 3.97 22-Jul 6 4 0 CMA 142 139 23 3.92 26-Jul 4 4 0 CMA 146 143 23 3.92 02-Aug 6 3 1 CMA 152 146 24 3.84 09-Aug 6 6 4 CMA 158 152 28 3.85 19-Aug 3 1 0 CMA 161 153 28 3.80 20-Aug 6 7 0 CMA 167 160 28 3.83 21-Aug 7 11 1 CMA 174 171 29 3.93 28-Aug 4 1 1 CMA 178 172 30 3.87 30-Aug 7 7 2 CMA 185 179 32 3.87 31-Aug 6 4 1 CMA 191 183 33 3.83 05-Sep 7 7 0 CMA 198 190 33 3.84 13-Sep 4 3 2 CMA 202 193 35 3.82 19-Sep 4 1 1 CMA 206 194 36 3.77 20-Sep 4 4 1 CMA 210 198 37 3.77 The bold figures show his Green Sheet Average at the cut-off for each month: May (i.e. meetings until April 23rd) 4.57 - actually not sure if this one is enough meetings to gain a new average June 4.92 July 4.23 (at this point, Glasgow redeclared with William Lawson in the side, hence the figure on the team declarations page - thanks King Jamie for that tip) August 3.92 (the figure in the Scunny programme) September 3.93 October and final 3.77. Proof that Mitchell Davey's Green sheet average was definitely greater than 4.00 for a good chunk of the 2009 season (on top of the fact that he started 2008 on an assessed 5.00 figure!!!). All the best Rob
  2. Is this 50 questions? I saw the result, saw there wasn't a thread and decided to start one. I didn't realise that was a crime. All the best Rob
  3. Nah, just curious as to what happened. I've now read a version of events on the Kent website and I can see why you might think I was on the wind up, although ultimately it is the referee and home promotion who dictate the pace of the meeting, although the away team can certainly put in a spanner in the works! Although, correct me if I'm wrong, but I make the number of two-minute exclusions as two apiece on each side. All the best Rob
  4. Final score: Kent 41 Birmingham 43... with last race not staged due to curfew. It seems to me a real shame that Kent didn't get on with this one a bit quicker - it's a shame when a clash between two of the league's big guns is decided by curfew. Any thoughts from those who were there? All the best Rob
  5. That's another cracker. There was also Josh's Heat 11 against Ipswich a couple of weeks ago at the EWR, when he passed both Witches on the final lap. All the best Rob
  6. Cyclone, Oh dear, I didn't think this needed explaining twice, but here goes: 18.10 e) refers to an average never going above 4.00. So the Team Declaration is very relevant, because it shows Davey on 4.23 during the year. Yes, his final figure slipped to 3.77 in his final 2009 Green Sheet average, but the key thing was that his GSA was 4.23 earlier in the season. He did have a GSA more than 4.00 during the season. Understand now? Superb stuff, although for me the race of the season is still Heat 15 against Glasgow, with Ryan going from 4th to 2nd to 4th to 3rd (I think!!) All the best Rob
  7. Rob Hollingworth up to 61 and queries on about 10 tracks which I'm trying to find out. It's really tricky, because he rode in Southern Track meetings after his Conference League comeback. Just found details of a STRA meeting he did at the Isle Of Wight. All the best Rob
  8. Let’s have a look at the two sets of figures for Monarchs, who finished their 2009 fixtures early: Team declaration: 1 Ryan Fisher 8.25 2 Andrew Tully 7.33 3 Kevin Wolbert 7.00 4 Matthew Wethers 6.97 5 Michal Rajowski 6.33 6 Aaron Summers 6.07 7 Kalle Katajisto 3.00 Total 44.95 Green Sheet: Ryan Fisher 37 18 19 178 367 7.40 8.25 Andrew Tully 21 12 9 96 176 6.80 7.33 Kevin Wolbert *Ass* 11 6 5 48 105 7.00 Ass Matthew Wethers 38 19 19 182 317 7.30 6.97 Michal Rajkowski 38 19 19 189 299 4.33 6.33 Aaron Summers 37 19 18 197 299 5.00 6.07 Kalle Katajisto *Ass* 0 0 0 0 0 3.00 Ass Tomas Jonasson 9 3 6 41 80 7.32 Sean Stoddart 19 10 9 62 45 3.59 3.00 Byron Bekker 38 18 20 137 93 3.00 3.00 See Prev. Club Max Dilger *Ass* 12 5 7 41 22 7.00 3.00 EXACTLY the same. It’s clear that the team declaration figures did not include bonus points for 2009, and that Glasgow simply had an awful October. Mitchell Davey’s GSA (excluding bonus) was 4.23 during 2009 (before his final figure for the year at 3.77). It’s there in black and white. All the best Rob
  9. Al, mistakes on the Green Sheet averages can be corrected. Remember the beginning of last year, when Alex Davies was given a very strange average and was all to set to line up at reserve for Scorpions at Edinburgh, only for Monarchs to put out the error prior to the meeting, prompting a late minute switch of the Scunny line-up? Davey clearly cannot be used as a NL guest. I can't believe that the ever-shrewd Monarchs' management didn't realise that. Oh, and stop all this stuff about NL taking priority. That simply doesn't happen. There may be a gentleman's agreement between Edinburgh and Belle Vue regarding Bewley, but stop pretending that it entitles you to anything but a NL guest. All the best Rob
  10. Al, if one were cynical, one might suggest that Edinburgh were well aware of the obvious error in the NL Green Sheets regarding Davey, and announced his presence as late as possible (late yesterday morning), to try to stop anybody spotting it in time. Unfortunately for them, Scunny did, and placed a protest in time. How on earth did Edinburgh seriously think they could use a rider who came in on a 5.00 assessed PL average as a NL guest? We'll wait and see the outcome. All the best Rob
  11. Blobby, check here: http://scunthorpescorpions.co/?p=5917 “It was quite clear to us that his inclusion was illegal”, says Peet. “We rode under protest regarding his eligibility, so we’ll wait and see how that goes.” Scunny were riding under protest. All the best Rob I think you're clutching at straws Al. 18.10 e) has clearly been broken. All the best Rob
  12. It doesn't matter, because he's not a guest! Mitchell Davey's average was 4.23 at one point during 2009, as this reveals: http://www.speedwaygb.co/premierleagueteams09 Might have gone even higher than that at some point - I'm sure some Glasgow fans might have a full month-by-month summary of his averages. All the nest Rob
  13. Edinburgh opted through choice not to use Bewley today, so E applies. You don't get a facility if you choose not to use a rider. Ironically, I think Davey is eligible to ride at No 7, but not to guest for someone else under 18.10 e) All the best Rob
  14. You mean this one: 18.10 FACILITIES a1) Absent #1: G or RR a2) Absent D-U or EDR (if riding for the “other” team) G or RR b ) 1 Absent rider (2 – 5): RR c) More than 1 Absent rider (1 - 5) 1 x RR facility and G for all others d) Absent #6 or #7: G e) “No Facility”: NL G* NL G*: a rider eligible for a NL Team who has never achieved an actual PL MA of 4.00 or above A quick check of the BSPA website shows that Mitchell Davey's average has gone above 4.00 in the past. For example, I spotted that his GSA for October 2009 was 4.23. All the best Rob
  15. It was an edit, as I checked it earlier and no mention of Bewley or Davey. Have now edited the Scunny website accordingly. All the best Rob
  16. You're both wrong, I AM Spartacus. All the best Rob
  17. HENDERSON INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions face a tough challenge with the visit of reigning Premier League champions Edinburgh Monarchs to the Eddie Wright Raceway on Sunday (6.30pm) in what promises to be an absolute belter of a match. The Scorpions are currently in a confident mood, having won three of their last four PL matches, including a fantastic 46-44 away win at Peterborough on Tuesday, which was inspired by a brilliant 15 paid 16 tally from reserve Michael Palm Toft. Scunthorpe have also won their previous two home matches, seeing off Ipswich (53-37) and league leaders Glasgow (51-39), with skipper Josh Auty scoring a full 15-point maximum in both of those two meetings. Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey says: “We won’t be taking anything for granted, but the lads have really picked up their game during the last couple of weeks, and we’ll be looking to continue that against Edinburgh. “The Monarchs have been the kings in the Premier League over the last couple of seasons, but they are beatable this season. It will be interesting to see how they fare on Sunday, because they’ve got one of the best heat-leaders trios in the league, but they’ve also got three riders who have never seen our place before. “Edinburgh have got the better of us the last couple of years, so it would be satisfying if we can reverse that trend on Sunday. “We’re back to our usual 6.30pm start-time, and I think the racing is going to be fantastic, when you look at some of the riders on the two teams.” Scunthorpe will again use rider replacement for the injured Alex Davies, who is recovering after fracturing two broken vertebrae in his back in a crash at Scunthorpe last Sunday. “Alex reckons he’ll be out for around six weeks”, remarks Godfrey. “That roughly takes us up until the end of August. We’re using R/R again on Sunday, and then we’ll take it from there in deciding whether we need to introduce a new signing.” There are 21 heats of action in total on Sunday, with a six-heat Midland Development League match between Scunthorpe and Long Eaton in the second half. Admission prices for Sunday: Adult: £15.00 Student/OAP: £13.00 Child (10 – 17): £5.00 Child (0 – 9) Free (accompanied by paying adult) Family Ticket £35 (2 adults, 2 Children 10-17) Match Programme: £1.00 Expected teams for Sunday: Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions: 1. 18. Hopefully this meeting will round off the weekend perfectly. It's bottom vs top, but Scorpions showing signs of improved form, so should be a cracker. The start-time has been brought forward to assist with the Glasgow riders, management and supporters heading back from Cardiff, and I imagine the new start-time is also perfect for any Edinburgh, Berwick, Newcastle, Redcar and Sheffield fans looking for another speedway meeting the day after Cardiff. All the best Rob
  19. ABSORBING CLASH AHEAD AT EDDIE WRIGHT RACEWAY WITH the weather gods finally behaving after a wet June, the first full match for a whole calendar month is set to take place at Scunthorpe’s Eddie Wright Raceway this evening (Sunday, 6.30pm), with rivals Ipswich Witches, led by British Champion Danny King, providing the opposition to the Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions. After the enforced break, Scorpions are keen to get back to winning ways and improve their league position. A win against the Witches, who won in such controversial circumstances at the EWR last July, would be doubly sweet. Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “It’s a very attractive fixture for so many reasons. “The Witches have newly-crowned British Champion Danny King spearheading their attack. Of course, our lads will be out to beat him. Ryan Douglas is moving to No 1 for us, and I’m sure Ryan will want to lower Danny’s colours in Heat 1. That should get the meeting off to a terrific start. “We’ve recently signed Lewis Kerr, after Ipswich released him, and he’ll be really keen to prove a point against his old club. “Plus it promises to be a meeting with some fabulous racing; there’s out-and-out racers on both sides. You’re almost guaranteed a humdinger of a race, when Josh Auty and Ben Barker are racing against each other.” There are 24 heats of action this afternoon. A nine-race second half includes a six-heat Midland Development League match between Scunthorpe and Belle Vue, while Ryan Douglas, Alex Davies and Michael Palm Toft will be amongst those riders taking part in three races on the innovative Formula Two speedway bikes, the brainchild of former rider Pete Seaton. Admission prices for this evening: Adult: £15.00 Student/OAP: £13.00 Child (10 – 17): £5.00 Child (0 – 9) Free (accompanied by paying adult) Family Ticket £35 (2 adults, 2 Children 10-17) Match Programme: £1.00 Expected teams for this evening: Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions: 1. Ryan Douglas, 2. Carl Wilkinson, 3. Alex Davies, 4. Lewis Kerr, 5. Josh Auty, 6. Michael Palm Toft, 7. Josh Bailey. Ipswich Witches: 1. Danny King, 2. James Sarjeant, 3. Nico Covatti, 4. Morten Risager, 5. Ben Barker, 6. Joe Jacobs, 7. Oliver Greenwood. Midland Development League teams: Scunthorpe Stags: 1. George Rothery, 2. Luke Whitehead, 3. Chris Hoy, 4. Sam Chapman. Belle Vue Colts: 1. Joe Lawlor, 2. Sam Woolley, 3. Andy Mellish, 4. TBA. Formula 2 speedway bikes: Ryan Douglas, Alex Davies, Michael Palm Toft plus others.
  20. Yes, three races, including Ryan Douglas, Michael Palm Toft and Alex Davies. All the best Rob
  21. Weather looking OK for tomorrow, so looking forward to this. I reckon the Scorpions can take it. All the best Rob
  22. It was actually catching riders out from both sides the whole night, right up until Luke Bowen fell while second in Heat 15 and Kent lost the 5-1 which would have secured a draw. A four-point win for Birmingham was a fair reflection of the meeting. In a way, the poor track spoilt the meeting. You had two teams fully committed, but without the track they needed to turn an OK meeting into what would have been an absolute corker. Danny Ayres was awesome. Looked completely untroubled. All the best Rob
