  1. And you really need a grow a sense of humour.
  2. You need to look at Wednesday, when Luke rode in wet conditions at Oxford (I know you're not used to those at Glasgow, where you call off the meeting if there's one little white cloud in the sky somewhere in the forecast - well you do, when the Danes are missing in any case), wasn't excluded once, and the only time he came down was when another rider brought him down on the first bend. The lad is learning all the time - yeah, he made a mistake last night. Mind you, so did Sam Hagon, but was got away with somehow bouncing off the fence, during a breath-taking battle with Henry Atkins.
  3. "Jumped in again"? I haven't commented on this thread before today since Sunday. I'm amazed you've kept it going since then and that you still seem to have a problem that I expressed an opinion that you didn't agree with. Tough!
  4. Blimey, you still harping on about this? You really don't like people having an opinion that isn't the same of your own, do you? Well, though luck, because it's a forum and that's what it's for. Incidentally, Oxford showed how you do it last night. Bit of rain in the forecast, but not enough to call it off. When a heavy shower did arrive at 6.45pm, the track staff worked hard, and it resulted in a very entertaining meeting and everyone went home happy. No-one was ever against early rain-offs on this thread. Just against early call-offs, when there isn't enough rain in the forecast to justify it. But carry on with your head in the sand, while wondering why there's less and less people stood around you at Ashfield each week.
  5. Danes not advertised as missing, as otherwise people might put two and two together regarding the call-off on a fine evening...
  6. No torment at all. Last time I checked this was a speedway forum and, therefore, we comment on here about speedway topics. If my comments are causing you torment, I suggest you leave the forum.
  7. I didn't go to Scunny yesterday to prove a point to anyone. I went because I go whenever there isn't a fixture clash with Oxford. I was also there a fortnight ago and will go around 2/3 times in June. When I looked at the forecast, it had around a 90% chance of taking place, but then that forecast changed at around 5,30pm, at which point the rain clearing by 6pm was replaced by a thunderstorm, which could hit Scunny or could pass it by. It hit. That's part and parcel of following the sport. Scunthorpe v Oxford was called off at 8.30am in April, because the forecast was obviously hopeless, and otherwise it's a waste of everyone's time. You only had to look at the forecast. It wasn't showers that day, it was a big band of rain working its way up the country. On the other hand, the Glasgow v Oxford call off surprised me, because when I checked the forecast on Thursday evening, it looked fine. Yesterday, after the call off, checked it again and it still looked fine. There's no point in an early call off when the fixture so obviously could have taken place. Unfortunately, as I said before, and I wish it didn't, but events like yesterday badly hurt Glasgow Speedway. People stop trusting them. I've already knocked Glasgow v Scunny on the head, the day before Workington v Oxford, any other fans will make similar decisions on future meetings at Glasgow. I would also imagine local Glasgow fans, who witnessed a nice evening last night, were left a little miffed. It's damaging and it's not good.
  8. Look back at the rest of the thread and it should become fairly obvious.
  9. Based on what people local to the area have told me.
  10. Rain offs in speedway are part and parcel of the sport. What isn't is calling off a meeting for another reason, and then using predicted very light rain as a very poor excuse. After yesterday's shenanigans, you'll be lucky if more than a handful of away supporters bothering to make the trip to Ashfield, as the Glasgow promotion seem to treat away supporters with contempt. Keep on defending the indefensible, but when there isn't a Glasgow Speedway any more, you might start to wonder why you didn't ask more questions.
  11. There was a certain irony in that the meeting I wasn't originally planning to go to today, and the one where I ended up got rained off, while the one I was originally planning to go to could have taken place! But at least Scunny put in every effort to stage their meetings - they will only call it off early in the day if the weather is truly dire. It means you build up a level of trust. Of course, there's still the odd wasted journey, but that's all part of speedway. On the other hand, while I'm not going to cut off my nose to spite my face and miss Glasgow v Oxford when it's re-staged, my plans to do Glasgow v Scunny the day before Workington v Oxford have been shelved today. What's the point in booking days off work, booking hotels, etc, when the Glasgow make no effort to put on meetings and seem to call them off due to rider availability rather than the weather? Sadly, I've lost all faith in the Glasgow management after today's shenanigans. I used to think they are a shot in the arm for British Speedway, but sadly no more.
  12. That's a non-answer if I ever saw one As you're not saying otherwise, are you agreeing that it was a very light "rain off"?
  13. WEATHER UPDATE AT 12.15pm There have been some heavy showers this morning, but the sun is out, it's 17 degrees and the track is dry again. There are more showers about this afternoon, but they clear up by 6pm, and the current plan is that it's still all systems go for tonight!
  14. They are indeed, and it won't stop me doing it all again. In my case, the day off work can't be reclaimed, but the hotel was still refundable. Others have been less lucky. But I do expect the management of clubs to play ball and make every effort to get a meeting on. It's very hard to see that that's happened in this case. Surely you'll agree that is a very light "rain off"? Just look at how light the rain in the forecast actually is.
  15. The complete opposite. The travelling fans had already booked time off work, hotels, etc. To call a meeting off because of the possibility of a pitiful amount of rain reveals disrespect and contempt for the travelling fans. The Glasgow management should just come clean and reveal why tonight was called off, because if they can't stage a meeting tonight due to the amount of rain forecast, then how can anybody ever trust them to put on a meeting again?
  16. Good point - we've already said what we're going to say! Now going from Oxford to Scunny tonight, which actually has a marginally worse forecast than Glasgow, but I trust them to put on a meeting when it's possible.
  17. There's the photos for 4pm and 7pm - the one at 10pm is entirely clear. Explain to me again how this is enough rain to call off a speedway meeting.
  18. Have a look at the radar photos and tell me there's enough rain there to seriously trouble a speedway meeting going ahead. There's next to nothing.
  19. There's only light rain all day and it's spot where the light shower will hit at 7pm. Have you actually looked at the forecast?
  20. Sorry, but I was travelling from Oxford, but would rather take the risk. It can always happen. What's far more of a pain is rescheduling all the plans. Would have to think about ever travelling again to Glasgow after this - it's obvious why the meeting has been called off.
  21. Called off, despite the forecast being fine for today.
  22. Final day out, due to concussion protocols. Charles Wright is the guest.
  23. Just checked and weather looking good for this one... so travelling up from Oxford tomorrow.
