  1. SCORPIONS LOOKING TO ‘CLICK’ HENDERSON INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions have a big weekend of SGB Championship action ahead of them, with a visit to bottom club Berwick on Saturday (7pm), followed by a home meeting against Peterborough Panthers at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Sunday (5.30pm). Scunthorpe have already won once at Berwick this season, and are looking to make it four victories in four matches against the Bandits. Meanwhile, Peterborough make third appearance at the Eddie Wright Raceway in 2017. The Panthers won 46-44 in April, before the Knockout Cup clash between the two sides was washed out in early June, with Scorpions leading 19-11 at the time of the abandonment. Scorpions are set to use rider replacement in both meetings for the injured Jake Allen. Skipper Michael Palm Toft says: “We’re capable of winning both meetings, both at Berwick, and at home to Peterborough. “It’s just a case of us all clicking at the same time. When we do that, there’s no reason why we can’t win against anyone.” On Sunday, Chris Harris will be on World Longtrack duty and Peterborough bring in Scunthorpe asset Thomas Jorgensen as a guest. Jack Holder is also unavailable, with his replacement yet to be determined. Promoter Rob Godfrey says: “I’m looking forward to seeing Thomas Jorgensen back at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Sunday, even if it’s as a guest for the away team. He’ll always be welcome here. “I’m sure he’ll be involved in some great battles against our riders.” There are 21 heats of action in total on Sunday, including a six-heat second half challenge match between Scunthorpe Stags and Wolverhampton X Factor. Admission prices for Sunday: Adult: £15.00 Student/OAP: £13.00 Child (10 – 17): £5.00 Child (0 – 9) Free (accompanied by paying adult) Family Ticket £35 (2 adults, 2 Children 10-17) Match Programme: £1.00 Expected teams for Sunday: Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions: 1. Michael Palm Toft (captain), 2. Rider replacement for Jake Allen, 3. Lewis Kerr, 4. Ryan Douglas, 5. Josh Auty, 6. Tero Aarnio, 7. Josh Bailey. Peterborough Panthers: 1. Thomas Jorgensen (guest), 2. Guest for Jack Holder (TBC), 3. Paul Starke, 4. Bradley Wilson-Dean, 5. Ulrich Ostergaard, 6. Simon Lambert, 7. Tom Bacon. Junior challenge teams: Scunthorpe Stags: 1. Luke Whitehead, 2. Sam Chapman, 3. Chris Bambury, 4. Sheldon Davies. Wolverhampton X Factor: 1. Sam Wright, 2. Connor Fletcher, 3. James Chattin, 4. Stephen Whitehouse.
  2. Premiership - Monday and Wednesday Championship - Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday That would work. Although in the long-term, they need to phase out and eliminate doubling-up. All the best Rob
  3. Ask Scunny and I can't promise 12 minutes, but we will answer you. Post a photo from the track and we'll almost certainly re-tweet it. All the best Rob
  4. Compost, no problem, it's an interesting analysis and does show have safety has improved down the decades. You're never going to be able to stop every serious accident, but let's hope that David Nix in 2002 remains the last fatality in British Speedway for a long, long time. All the best Rob
  5. I know. They are as much as a tw*t as he is for biting. All the best Rob
  6. Whether you like Greg or not, surely he has to be a wildcard for next year. His GP record: 1995-2000: Automatic qualifier for next year. 2001: Won the GP Challenge. 2002-2016: Automatic qualifier for next year. Once the other riders have proven they can knock Greg out of the top eight over the course of a full season, then it's time to discuss whether his Grand Prix days are behind him. In the meantime, I think he fully deserves his first-ever wildcard entry to the series. All the best Rob
  7. Compost, very interesting but you've missed out Wayne Garrett, who was sadly killed at Newcastle in 1992. All the best Rob
  8. Surely Lebedevs has to be one of the wildcard picks. Best rider outside the Grand Prix series and better than quite a few in it as well. You can't have all the wildcards going to the riders already in the series. How about: 1. Lindback 2. Hancock 3. Lebedevs 4. A Danish rider All the best Rob
  9. Well I was stood just beneath the ref's box and I felt it was rather obvious that Ryan took a heavy knock from Schlein. The race really should have been stopped, with Schlein excluded. Having said that, we also had a couple of refereeing decisions go our way. The ref was consistently rubbish! Scorpions undone by a brilliant performance by King and that surprise result to Heat 12. All the best Rob
  10. If the World Cup is anything to go by, then Madsen is unable to perform on the big stage. Still NKI for me. Unless Nicki P can get back to fitness. All the best Rob
  11. Well, it's now midday. Any sign of the two guests for Peterborough? All the best Rob
  12. Doh! Not sure what happened there - now corrected. Are the Massif heading to the EWR today? All the best Rob
  13. Forecast looks absolutely fine for the rest of the day as well. I'm setting off from Oxfordshire just before 2pm. All the best Rob
  14. SCORPIONS LOOKING FOR HOME COMFORT HENDERSON INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions are looking to build on their “best result of the season” when they host third-placed Ipswich Witches in a SGB Championship encounter at the Eddie Wright Raceway tomorrow (Sunday, 5.30pm). Last Saturday, Scorpions took a superb 50-43 victory at Workington, their first win at Derwent Park since 1980. Lewis Kerr (10+2), Tero Aarnio (10) and Michael Palm Toft (9+1) were the top scores in a very solid performance by the Scorpions, with new signing Jake Allen contributing 6+3. However, Scorpions must go into action against Witches without Allen, since the Australian, who celebrated his 22nd birthday on Friday, broke two small bones in his wrist, while riding at Somerset on Wednesday. Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “We’ve had a lot of misfortune this season, and Jake’s injury is the latest chapter of that. He’d done such a good job for us so far, scoring paid nine at Workington and then top-scoring for Scorpions in the fours at Peterborough. “We’re hoping he won’t be out for long, while our only option against Ipswich on Sunday is to use rider replacement in his absence. “However, we must be positive, and look to the fact that his rides can be taken by Josh Auty, Ryan Douglas and our reserves, and they all had good meetings in our victory at Workington last week.” Ipswich Witches, who have a very potent spearhead in former British Champion Danny King and Australian international Rory Schlein, won a thriller at the Eddie Wright Raceway in May, winning by 46-44, and Sunday’s encounter promises to be another humdinger. Godfrey comments: “It’s going to be tough because Ipswich are a good side who are very much on course to claim one of the four play-off spots. But the boys are very upbeat after the win at Workington, which was our best result of the season. “Momentum is a big thing in speedway and we’ll be looking to maintain that. “We’ve shown what we can do when the boys all perform to their capabilities, and we can do that again.” There are 21 heats of action in total on Sunday, including a six-heat second half Northern Junior League match between Halifax Dukes and Northside Stars. Admission prices for Sunday: Adult: £15.00 Student/OAP: £13.00 Child (10 – 17): £5.00 Child (0 – 9) Free (accompanied by paying adult) Family Ticket £35 (2 adults, 2 Children 10-17) Match Programme: £1.00 Expected teams for Sunday: Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions: 1. Michael Palm Toft (captain), 2. Rider replacement for Jake Allen, 3. Lewis Kerr, 4. Ryan Douglas, 5. Josh Auty, 6. Tero Aarnio, 7. Josh Bailey. Ipswich Witches: 1. Danny King, 2. Kyle Newman, 3. Cameron Heeps, 4. Rider replacement for Justin Sedgmen, 5. Rory Schlein, 6. Nathan Greaves, 7. Connor Mountain. Northern Junior League teams: Halifax Dukes: 1. Kean Dicken, 2. Joe Lawlor, 3. Jordan Palin, 4. Harry McGurk. Northside Stars: 1. James Hitchin, 2. Lewis Millar, 3. Corban Pavitt, 4. Gregor Millar.
  15. Brilliant racing tonight. Malilla is the best racetrack in the Grand Prix series. It's why I've been out there four times. All the best Rob
  16. I think it would have been further handbags. Neither Hancock nor Pedersen hit me as a trained fighter. As for Greg, whether you like him or not, it's obvious that he should be given a wildcard for next year.... should he want one, of course! He could decide to call time. We'll see. All the best Rob
  17. What has that got to do with it. You MUST select your top four riders. You didn't. You cheated. Buster Chapman has promised sanctions. Hopefully they will include excluding the illegal Panthers team from the standings. All the best Rob
  18. Each Team must include their Top 4 by MA, with a Reserve being optional. If a reserve is named, then he must be the lowest by MA from the 5 selected riders. Actual Team line ups for the Semi Final must be declared 5 days prior to the event. For the Final, line ups can be changed, but must be declared within Fifteen (15) minutes of completion of the Semi Final. Each Team must produce professional riders race numbers as per the draw for both the Semi and Final.
  19. Exactly, the team wasn't legal, and did not comply with the rulebook. Congratulations to Redcar on being the highest-placed legal team. All the best Rob
  20. Chris Harris can be an amazing to watch. A big shame that Peterborough won it today. A tainted victory, just like Justin Gatlin's. All the best Rob
  21. Scunthorpe have Ryan Douglas at reserve: http://scunthorpescorpions.co/?p=7603 All the best Rob
