  1. You've missed the possibility of a guest from the Premiership on a converted average. All the best Rob
  2. Sheffield 53 Ipswich 37. Ippo must be left kicking themselves for getting the lead down from 14 to 8, but then letting it slip again. All the best Rob
  3. Where I have presented myself as an impartial observer? When it comes to Glasgow v Edinburgh matters, I'll always back the Tigers. All the best Rob
  4. How come Mitchell Davey hasn't got a ban? All the best Rob
  5. STRONG START KEY FOR SCORPIONS HENDERSON INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions’ team manager Dave Peet insists a strong start for his side is important if there are to overturn an 18-point-deficit against Peterborough Panthers in their vital Knockout Cup tie at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Friday evening (7.30pm). Scorpions lost 36-54 at the East Of England Showground in the first leg. If they win on aggregate, they will progress to face either Glasgow or Newcastle in the semi-finals. If not, their season will come to an end with the clash against the Panthers. It’s the third attempt to stage the meeting. It was originally abandoned in June, with Scorpions leading 19-11, and was also washed out last week. Peet said: “Our performance in a league match at Peterborough on Tuesday gave us a bit of a boost. We showed that we could stay with them for almost the whole match around their own track. “I feel that, on Friday, if we attack them from the off, then we’ve got a chance of getting back those 18 points. “A good start is the key. If we can claw back some points, we can put the Peterborough lads under a little bit of pressure. “Way back in June, when we first attempted to hold this meeting, we were 19-11 ahead after five races, when the heavens opened. If we start like that again, it would be game on. “On paper, you’d say Peterborough would be favourites to progress on aggregate. But it’s what happens out on the track which is important.” Tero Aarnio is unavailable on Friday, since he is riding in his re-staged national championships back in his native Finland. He will be replaced by Newcastle’s Ashley Morris, who put in plenty of effort in a brief spell with Scorpions early in 2016. Scorpions’ management are considering a move back to Friday nights in 2018, and a good crowd this Friday could help sway any decision. Peterborough have an attractive side, led by former three-time British Champion Chris Harris. Promoter Rob Godfrey says: “This meeting is a golden chance for the fans to show up in bumper numbers and prove to me that we should move back to a Friday evening. “It’s a mouth-watering meeting. Peterborough got one of the most entertaining riders in British Speedway in former Grand Prix star Chris ‘Bomber’ Harris, we’ve got one of the most entertaining riders in British Speedway in Josh Auty, and the racing at the Eddie Wright Raceway on a Friday night is always top class. “If it does prove to be our last meeting this season, then hopefully we’ll see a fighting performance from the Scorpions and some thrilling racing.” Admission prices for Friday: Adult: £15.00 Student/OAP: £13.00 Child (10 – 17): £5.00 Child (0 – 9) Free (accompanied by paying adult) Family Ticket £35 (2 adults, 2 Children 10-17) Match Programme: £1.00 Expected teams for Friday: Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions: 1. Lewis Kerr, 2. Jake Allen, 3. Michael Palm Toft, 4. Ryan Douglas, 5. Josh Auty (captain), 6. Ashley Morris (guest), 7. Josh Bailey. Peterborough Panthers: 1. Richie Worrall (guest), 2. Bradley Wilson-Dean, 3. Paul Starke, 4. Ulrich Ostergaard, 5. Chris Harris, 6. Simon Lambert, 7. Tom Bacon.
  6. Enjoyed himself so much that he only stayed there one season... All the best Rob
  7. Peter Adams could get in some ringers who ride the track much better than his own riders. All the best Rob
  8. So you're saying they just put in the same 15 every season because they're all in the top 15? Not your best argument SCB. Surely some of the riders outside the series (e.g. Lebedevs) are better than those in the series. So are the riders in the series REALLY in the top 15? Fresh blood is needed each year. If all four wildcards go to riders already in the series, then it will quickly become a closed shop. All the best Rob
  9. If you look at other fixtures, it was pretty much the only date available. There were no other meetings on that night. All the best Rob
  10. Chris Holder’s GP record is surprisingly unimpressive for a former World Champion: 2010 8th 2011 8th 2012 FIRST 2013 12th 2014 8th 2015 7th 2016 4th 2017 Currently 10th In other words, he’s finished in the top six just twice. To make sure of a GP spot in 2018, Chris Holder surely needs to overhaul Martin Vaculik in the final standings. Greg Hancock and a Dane are cast iron certainties for a wildcard, leaving two others. There are a number of young riders knocking on the door e.g. Lebedevs who was much more impressive than Holder in the SWC, and I feel at least one wildcard has to be to a rider outside the series. If it comes down to a straight choice between Vaculik and Holder on 2017 form, then surely it has to be Vaculik, unless Holder can do something special in the final two rounds… All the best Rob
  11. In other words, he'll be in because of Monster All the best Rob
  12. I've heard Danny King is getting married and will no longer be known as Danny King. All the best Rob
  13. If the current standings stay as they are, then the wildcards should be Vaculik (9th in series and a GP winner in 2017), Hancock (was in top 8 when injured), NKI (because they'll want a Dane) and Lebedevs (outstanding in SWC and much needed fresh blood). Holder has done little so far to warrant a wildcard. All the best Rob
  14. Hmmm, two contradictory posts. No, hopefully they've now realised that the Scunny promotion were being completely genuine yesterday. The forecast for next Friday looks good, but should it change, everyone will be informed in plenty of time again. All the best Rob
  15. Where did Rosco admit to BWD's illegal ride in the first leg? I missed him saying anything about that. All the best Rob
  16. PLEASE NOTE that the new date at the Eddie Wright Raceway for the Knockout Cup clash between Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions and Peterborough Panthers is NEXT Friday (September 29th) at 7.30pm.
  17. Illegal reserve ride in the first leg, and dodgy ringer reserve in the second leg. Well done Belle Vue - justice prevails!! All the best Rob
  18. Rosco should put faith in his own riders. I hope BWD realises how little Rosco thinks of him, when it comes to picking who to ride for in 2018. All the best Rob
