Sgp Wildcards 2018
lucifer sam replied to TheReturn's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
So you're saying they just put in the same 15 every season because they're all in the top 15? Not your best argument SCB. Surely some of the riders outside the series (e.g. Lebedevs) are better than those in the series. So are the riders in the series REALLY in the top 15? Fresh blood is needed each year. If all four wildcards go to riders already in the series, then it will quickly become a closed shop. All the best Rob -
Sgp Wildcards 2018

Chris Holder’s GP record is surprisingly unimpressive for a former World Champion: 2010 8th 2011 8th 2012 FIRST 2013 12th 2014 8th 2015 7th 2016 4th 2017 Currently 10th In other words, he’s finished in the top six just twice. To make sure of a GP spot in 2018, Chris Holder surely needs to overhaul Martin Vaculik in the final standings. Greg Hancock and a Dane are cast iron certainties for a wildcard, leaving two others. There are a number of young riders knocking on the door e.g. Lebedevs who was much more impressive than Holder in the SWC, and I feel at least one wildcard has to be to a rider outside the series. If it comes down to a straight choice between Vaculik and Holder on 2017 form, then surely it has to be Vaculik, unless Holder can do something special in the final two rounds… All the best Rob -

Sgp Wildcards 2018

If the current standings stay as they are, then the wildcards should be Vaculik (9th in series and a GP winner in 2017), Hancock (was in top 8 when injured), NKI (because they'll want a Dane) and Lebedevs (outstanding in SWC and much needed fresh blood). Holder has done little so far to warrant a wildcard. All the best Rob -
Rob G pays for an additional forecast which is usually very accurate. A couple of weeks ago it's why he pressed ahead with Scunny v Edinburgh despite the BBC and Met forecasts suggesting it had little chance. As usual, his pay-forecast was the accurate one and the meeting took place, while both Sheffield and Buxton were called off. All the best Rob

Coz I hadn't written it at that point Here goes: PLEASE NOTE that tonight’s meeting at the Eddie Wright Raceway between the Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions and the Peterborough Panthers has been postponed. The forecast is very poor for this evening. While we thank fans for their patience last Sunday, we didn’t want to put them through that experience twice within a week. Sunday’s late heavy hailstorm was unexpected (certainly to that extent) – but tonight’s rain is predicted. We hope everyone appreciates the early call-off. We will advise a re-staging date in due course.

Steve, I hope the piece served as a fitting tribute to Lee Dunton. And yes, I'd be delighted to interview both Kai Niemi and Mike Sampson. Mike is a tricky man to track down, so if anyone has contact details, please PM me, or contact Tony Mac at Retro Speedway. All the best Rob

FRIDAY NIGHT ACTION AT THE EDDIE WRIGHT RACEWAY HENDERSON INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions stage possibly their last home meeting of the season at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Friday evening (7.30pm), when they host Peterborough Panthers in Knockout Cup quarter-final action. Scorpions need to overturn an 18-point-deficit from the first leg at the East Of England Showground, to progress to the semi-finals and prolong their season. If Scorpions qualify, they will face either Glasgow or Newcastle in the next round, on a yet-to-be-determined date. Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey says: “The odds are not stacked in our favour, with Peterborough tracking a full-strength team. “But we’ll go out there and see what we can do to extend our season.” Much is still up in the air regarding the 2018 season, including Scorpions’ regular race-night. Godfrey adds: “This meeting is a chance for supporters to show up in bumper numbers and prove to me that we should move back to a Friday evening. “I’m sure there will be some terrific racing, especially with former British Grand Prix Champion Chris Harris in the Peterborough line-up. “I can’t wait to see Bomber and Josh Auty going at it hammer-and-tong around the Eddie Wright Raceway.” Admission prices for Friday: Adult: £15.00 Student/OAP: £13.00 Child (10 – 17): £5.00 Child (0 – 9) Free (accompanied by paying adult) Family Ticket £35 (2 adults, 2 Children 10-17) Match Programme: £1.00 Expected teams for Friday: Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions: 1.
