  1. No replacement allowed. It's NL guests not riding in the Premiership or Championship for the rest of the season.
  2. In the case of David Howe, there was a letter from the ACU.
  3. I don't recall the Hall occasion - I think that pre-dated me. But we were allowed a guest for David Howe (in 2014?), because it was a re-arranged Scorpions' match and David had written confirmation from the ACU stating he was riding for his country. Under the old wording of the rule, that covered it. In contrast, we didn't have that for Theo Pijper (in 2015?), and Scunthorpe were forced into placing a 28-day-ban on him, so be able to cover for him. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with Sheffield having a facility for Shanes last night, for a re-arranged fixture, when he's representing his country. Common sense says that should be allowed. Only one sub-heading of 16.5.1 needs to be satisfied - not every single last one. 16.5.1 f) looks most likely.
  4. Seems you've slipped one for once, R&R. You've been banging on about 16.5.1 k) when actually it's not relevant at all I'm guessing, but I think Shanes' absence is covered under: 16.5 FACILITIES 16.5.1 A Team may utilise a "Facility" to cover the absence of a Rider(s) who: f) is recalled in accordance with the FIM ISLB Regulations. From what I recall of the old rule, this has replaced the bit where a valid reason was if a country had recalled him for international duty. I think the ISLB agreement these days would cover a Dane for a couple of days before he was representing Denmark, etc. It seems reasonable that a British rider would also be covered, if he was representing GB. In any case, it's common sense that there should be a facility for Shanes. He's riding for his country.
  5. Fantastic meeting last night with a late, late comeback from Scorpions. Heat 15 will stick in the memory for a long time.
  6. Rye House Spurs? Shadders would probably approve of that one
  7. Not a bad idea, although the London Lions flopped at Hackney in 1996. Also, I wonder if Rye House is too far from London for it to work. Obviously, it's Lakeside Hammers for this season, but beyond that using the 'Lakeside' name seems largely pointless, especially since it's not even the traditional name for Arena Essex. It's just a shopping centre that flagged to people where the Arena Essex Raceway was actually based. Maybe Rye House Hammers does make most sense. It's a link to London it itself, since it's the old West Ham name. Plus it trips nicely off the tongue.
  8. Good luck to the Hammers for the future. While it is sad to lose a speedway venue, I hope the club thrives at Rye House.
  9. You're making things up, as usual. Racers and Royals has quote the rule correctly.
  10. I think I might wait until next year to say hello to the Massif boys (are there any Massif ladies? ). I'll go to Scunny on Friday when Josh and Jake are due back.
  11. Drew Kemp was outstanding last night. Great to see a young Brit doing so well. Scorpions simply ran out of resources. Disappointing night, but it was always going to tough as soon as Josh and Jake were ruled out.
  12. Broc Nicol is very good around the EWR. Still looks a really good meeting.
  13. I reckon you've got every chance at Scunny later today, because Josh and Jake have held us together this year. We're going to miss them tonight. For Scunny, even if we max out in the final 4 fixtures, it's probably not enough, but Witches still have a chance. Come along tonight and see if your lads can take the league points - because it's not too late for you guys. I just hope for a cracking meeting and a Scunny win, so we go up a place or two. And that the reserves really start to fire, ready for our two forthcoming semi-finals.
  14. Yeah, Scunthorpe v Ipswich is always a good meeting. I wouldn't mind it being slightly less eventful than the 2015 meeting, though. That was one of the most bonkers meetings I've ever been to, with controversy, a sit-down protest, punch-ups and a subsequent ban for one of the riders.
  15. Ooops. I can't get used to Workington actually having home meetings.
  16. You coming up, Baldyman? It will be interesting to see how Drew Kemp goes on his away debut for Witches.
  17. Looks like it's the top (available) rider from each of the 11 clubs, plus the top five best No 2 riders. Both Craig Cook and Steve Worrall have 24 matches on their rolling averages. Why would you want to exclude them, when they've qualified?
  18. Are you having a laugh? Surely having the strongest possible line-up is a GOOD thing? I would suggest it's been done on the rolling averages.
  19. RIP Ronnie Moore - another legend gone.
  20. THE first leg of the Championship Shield semi-final between Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions and Workington Comets will take place at the Eddie Wright Raceway on FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 7th at 7.30pm.
  21. Ankle injury - it's not yet known whether there's a fracture or whether it's tendon damage. Fingers crossed that Josh is OK for August 17th.
  22. Fair play for coming on here and not disappearing off the forum for a week, as others have done in the past. I hope Tigers manage to restore a bit of pride over the rest of the season. Well apart on your visit to the EWR, of course.
