  1. H man, After a schedule that involved writing a report for the Oxford Mail on Sunday as well as my usual duties and then team managing at Scunthorpe on Monday, and getting about fours hours sleep both nights, I can assure you I slept like a log last night! Great news that Sam's injury isn't as bad as feared. All the best Rob
  2. Lordy is this thread still going on... and on... and on. Right, Mr. Nicholls can count himself lucky to be in this year's GP. Yes, he was unlucky to a certain extent in 2006, but to be seeded through three years on the trot does make him a lucky boy. On the other hand, I'm glad he is in there. He is amongst the best 15 riders in the world, and has proved this recently. If Nicholls finishes in top 8 and qualifies for 2008, I'm sure you'll find at that point Subedei will be most gracious. On the other hand, if Nicholls doesn't, then I'm really not sure if he should be seeded in once again. All the best Rob
  3. Thanks Stressed - have now updated details on Oxford website. All the best Rob
  4. Sandie, You've caught most of them yourself, does that also make you a geek? Missing are Chris Morton, Neil Evitts, Joe Screen, Gary Havelock, Dave Jessup, Peter Collins, Eric Boocock, Malcolm Simmons, Ray Wilson, Steve Bastable and Andy Grahame. All the best Rob
  5. Well done Brendan!!... hope the rest of the series goes as well. All the best Rob
  6. Blimey, not ANOTHER Scott Nicholls thread, haven't we been here before?? To settle the argument, both Nicholls and Gollob are rubbishe, and Danny Betson is a better rider than both of them combined All the best Rob
  7. Grachan, No, from that same footage, I judged it was Carter's fault... he kept on going for a gap which was no longer there. Carter hit Penhall at the completion of the lap, Penhall hit Carter halfway around the corner, but there was no contact on the second bend when Carter lost it and fell. Tough, but that's racing. All the best Rob
  8. Tactical Sub, Er... they were 75 passes in that meeting... and that didn't include those on the opening half lap. Leszno is best the best racetrack in the world... even the Extraleague match I saw there two years ago where the home team trashed Zielona Gora was top-notch entertainment. I think I may have to go to the Grand Prix round at Leszno in 2008. All the best Rob
  9. And to think Hans Andersen was criticising British track preparation Actually, he did have a point there. But tonight's track.... was it prepared at all??? Should be the last time Vojens are allowed to hold an international event... the final was also a disgrace for the 2003 final. All the best Rob
  10. Ron, We live in a free country* and therefore if there is a market for a Kenny Carter book, someone wants to write it and people want to read it, then it's going to get published. We should be thankful that the book was written by an author such of Tony MacDonald, who has taken a responsible attitude in writing the book, instead of going for the sensationalist angle. I would recommend this book. It's a rivetting read, even though I still can't understand why Carter did what he did. Penhall was right - he must have had a screw lose somewhere. All the best Rob *well supposedly, in reality even this forum is censored to a degree that is rapidly p*ss*ng me off - I would thoroughly recommend the Weird World Of Subedei to anyone - a much more open and honest forum.
  11. Now finished the book. An excellent read, and don't worry, it doesn't hold back. It is interesting to finally read Bruce Penhall's views on Kenny Carter, even though they're not pretty!! And has it changed my opinion on Kenny Carter - the rider I loved to hate as a child? Not really. The bloke was dealt a very hard difficult of set of cards, but it still doesn't excuse his completely arrogant, unlikeable personality, and certainly doesn't excuse his dreadful final act. All the best Rob
  12. Hoping to get along to this. Should be a good weekend... the PL Paris at Somerset on Friday, Cardiff on Saturday, the first meeting back at Oxford on Sunday when we entertain Buxton, and then the first meeting for the new Reading promotion on Monday. Should make up for nearly a month without watching any Speedway (the British Final is my only meeting since Oxford's temporary closure), now I hope the weather will behave itself!! All the best Rob
  13. Woo-hoo!!! 11 days till I see Chas & Dave!! Oh... and there's the little matter of a Speedway meeting as well!!! All together now.... "You've got more rabbit than Sainsburys...." All the best Rob
  14. Thought it was worth taking a big risk with Crump at 3pts, but instead I ended up busting - never mind. That's what you get for backing Poole riders, I guess. All the best Rob
  15. Congrats to Kyle & Ben on their win, finished off a perfect night - and we haven't had too many of them at Oxford in 2007. All the best Rob
  16. Vog, It wasn't the top 8 foursomes... it was 8 selected foursomes, now it's just a slightly different 8. Regarding Michael Coles riding for Oxford, what's wrong with this? Oxford have more-or-less come into this compeition as a favour to the CL. We only had four riders available, then with Grant unavailable, it's down to three riders. What do you want: a blank space in the programme, or a rider who could be a big drawcard? All the best Rob
  17. Hey guys - look at the heading of this section!! Dear Mod Team - thank you! All the best Rob
  18. Cheers Lioness - I apologise for the harsh tone of my previous post. But people don't appear to be finding this thread - it would be great if you could take up our suggestions. All the best Rob EDIT: Where did Lioness's post go??
  19. Darren, Unfortunately, the thread is still here, despite the efforts of Parsloes and myself. It's telling that yesterday in the CL section, this thread picked up 8-10 replies, but today nothing, well apart from your post and now this one from me. The mods obviously don't give a stuff about the Conference League. All the best Rob
  20. Subedei, For ages, we've had to put up with you telling us how wonderful the Polish Speedway is and how good the Polish riders are. And also how there should be around 6 Poles or something daft and no Brits in the GP series. Well tonight, ON THEIR OWN SOIL, not a SINGLE Pole (and there were five of them) qualified for the semi-finals of the European GP. In comparison, out of the two British competitors, Chris Harris finished a fantastic third and looked better than all the Polish boys put together. So are the Poles still wonderful, or maybe just maybe the British riders aren't as bad as you think they are. All the best Rob
  21. ... to "Speedway Testimonials, Individual Meetings and EL/PL/CL Shared Events." It would be more appropriate, and would allow people to locate threads such as the one on the CL Fours, which otherwise is in a completely illogical place. Otherwise I'll start ANOTHER thread on the CL Fours in the CL section All the best Rob
  22. Spin King, This is the fours... strength in depth has nothing to do with it... Plymouth are top heavy, which suits them down to the ground in this competition. All the best Rob
  23. I notice that there is a thread for this in Testimonials / Individual meetings / Super7even events, but as this competition is none of those, hardly anyone has contributed to it... probably because they can't find it!! So time to start a thread here I think! Oxford have now replaced Rye House, who were unable to raise a team, so the revised line-up is: GROUP 1: Scunthorpe Buxton Oxford Sittingbourne GROUP 2: Plymouth Stoke Boston Weymouth It is the first of four visits to the St. Bonniface Arena for Oxford in 2007. The Lions will be without Jordan Frampton and Andrew Bargh, who are riding in the PL, but I still think we're in with a chance of getting to the final. As for the eventual winners, as long as their top four are avialable, I can't see anyone stopping the homesters... not even Scunthorpe. All the best Rob
  24. Rye House unable to raise a team - Oxford have come to the rescue and will replace the Raiders in Group 1. All the best Rob P.S. Odd location for this thread - shouldn't it be in the CL section? 'Tis not a indivdual, testimonial or Super7even event.
  25. Surely this will be IMG/BSI's decision, not Neil Middleditch?? All the best Rob
