Hi Scunny Stag, It was like the old GP scoring, riders got points on their position, rather than the actual points they scored on the night. The scorers from the Oxford round were 17-15-14-13 for the four finalists, then the remaining riders got 12-11-10-9 etc depending on their positions from the 20 heats. In case of ties from the 20 heats, riders were awarded the same points, e.g. three riders got 10 points, then the next rider got 7 points, and so on. Bryn - you're just sore because Leigh Adams left King's Lynn in order to head Oxford's EL winning side in 2001. Can I point out that it is a Leigh Adams programme board where he is proudly displaying a JT Commerical Cheetahs racejacket. I used the programme board throughout the 2003 season after Leigh had moved onto Poole, but since he signed for Swindon it only comes out on rare ocassions and not for Oxford team meetings All the best Rob

Oxford Speedway proudly presents the final round of the British Under-15 championship at Cowley on Friday night (7.30pm). Oxford's Brendan Johnson is joint series leader going into the meeting, alongside James Sarjeant. Riders carry forward their best score from the previous two rounds at Weymouth and Northside (Workington), where the winners were Johnson and Sarjeant respectively. The format of Friday's meeting is 20 heats and a Grand Final, plus 250cc races. The winner of the Grand Final is the round winner and receives 17 points, the runner-up picks up 15 points, third 14 points and fourth 13 points. The other riders receive 12-11-10-9-8 etc points depending on their position after the 20 qualifying races. Points are added to those carried forward, and the overall top scorer is British Champion. The sixteen riders, with their current scores, are: Kye NORTON, 13 Danny STONEMAN, 9 James SARJEANT, 17 John RESCH, 7 Jason GARRITY, 9 Scott MEAKINS, 6 Daniel GREENWOOD, 15 Shane HAZELDEN, 13 Jack HIRST, 12 Brendan JOHNSON, 17 Chris BINT, 5 Cameron HOSKINS, 10 Montana JOWETT, 10 Michael BOVIS, 4 Richard FRANKLIN, 15 Jake KNIGHT, 0 With only two points separating Brendan Johnson, James Sarjeant, Daniel Greenwood and Richard Franklin, the championship is well and truly up for grabs on Friday night. Lordy is this thread still going on... and on... and on. Right, Mr. Nicholls can count himself lucky to be in this year's GP. Yes, he was unlucky to a certain extent in 2006, but to be seeded through three years on the trot does make him a lucky boy. On the other hand, I'm glad he is in there. He is amongst the best 15 riders in the world, and has proved this recently. If Nicholls finishes in top 8 and qualifies for 2008, I'm sure you'll find at that point Subedei will be most gracious. On the other hand, if Nicholls doesn't, then I'm really not sure if he should be seeded in once again. All the best Rob

Grachan, No, from that same footage, I judged it was Carter's fault... he kept on going for a gap which was no longer there. Carter hit Penhall at the completion of the lap, Penhall hit Carter halfway around the corner, but there was no contact on the second bend when Carter lost it and fell. Tough, but that's racing. Tactical Sub, Er... they were 75 passes in that meeting... and that didn't include those on the opening half lap. Leszno is best the best racetrack in the world... even the Extraleague match I saw there two years ago where the home team trashed Zielona Gora was top-notch entertainment. I think I may have to go to the Grand Prix round at Leszno in 2008. All the best Rob

Ron, We live in a free country* and therefore if there is a market for a Kenny Carter book, someone wants to write it and people want to read it, then it's going to get published. We should be thankful that the book was written by an author such of Tony MacDonald, who has taken a responsible attitude in writing the book, instead of going for the sensationalist angle. I would recommend this book. It's a rivetting read, even though I still can't understand why Carter did what he did. Penhall was right - he must have had a screw lose somewhere. Now finished the book. An excellent read, and don't worry, it doesn't hold back. It is interesting to finally read Bruce Penhall's views on Kenny Carter, even though they're not pretty!! And has it changed my opinion on Kenny Carter - the rider I loved to hate as a child? Not really. The bloke was dealt a very hard difficult of set of cards, but it still doesn't excuse his completely arrogant, unlikeable personality, and certainly doesn't excuse his dreadful final act.
