Thanks for posting this. I haven't been told of any problems with Ryan's visa - Rob Godfrey signed Ryan very early for 2014 (last September) to help avoid any problems. The Visa was applied for in very good time. All the best Rob Peasley

Sgp Riders' Numbers
lucifer sam replied to PHILIPRISING's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Does it have to be a whole number? Can a rider choose 33 and a third All the best Rob -
I think quite a few promoters are quite interested in what is said on forums. Who had to run twice a week last year? There were 34 weeks in the speedway season, not an excessive amount of rain during the actual season (despite very wet winters either side), and no-one had anything like 34 official fixtures to stage at their track. Wasn't the feedback from a lot of fans last season that they weren't enough fixtures? Or did I imagine lots of the posts on this forum? All the best Rob

Well The White Knight is up in arms about it. That normally means it's a damn good idea, but they just didn't happen to be doing it in 1972. Personally, I have no problem with it. You set the number of fixtures according to what the number of fixtures that the clubs and fans want. All the best Rob

BWDouble, I didn’t twig immediately that you were a Buxton fan. Now that I have, be proud of your team. The Hitmen have punched considerably above their weight over the years. There’s that clean sweep of major honours in 2010, I’m sure there was another KO Cup somewhere, plus all those Riders’ Championship winners. The Hitmen have contributed some great riders to British Speedway and are perhaps more than any other team, what speedway’s third tier is all about. It’s an achievement in itself for the Hitmen to come to the tapes in 2014. The Air Fence issue could have oh so easily sent the club the same way as the Isle Of Wight (fingers crossed for a positive result tonight), but Buxton is still there in the NL, which is fabulous news. You can bet your bottom dollar that Jayne and co are putting together the best team they can for 2014. Even if it’s not challenging for honours (which is tough to do at the moment; they are some very strong NL teams about), as long as it’s a side that does its best to win, provides entertainment via some ever improving youngsters, and gives a bigger team a bloody nose every now and then. Personally, once the fixtures are released, one journey I will be intending to make from Oxford will be to see the Hitmen v Stags match, because I really enjoy watching speedway at the Hi-Edge Raceway. Hold on, I didn't say any team goes into a meeting to lose. They all go into each meeting to win. But this league is not about signing star names. It's about signing riders with potential, who improve week-on-week. And that makes it all more pleasurable when a rider does win his first NL race, or when the team come on top against supposed stronger opposition. All the best Rob Absolutely. And it was great when Buxton swept all before them in 2010 - much deserved. All the best Rob

Isn't this the National League? - if you haven't got top riders, you simply train up some top riders. It isn't a league where winning is the be-all and end-all. All the best Rob

The score is immaterial when we're riding Cradley in any case, because it's just Scunthorpe A vs Scunthorpe B. (Just to point out, I don't have any problem with the make-up of the Cradley team at all ) All the best Rob

RIP Alf Weedon. All the best Rob

Out of my list, I never saw Briggo either, and only saw Mauger in the 1980s (i.e. when he was finally on the way down). It's always tricky to do an all-time list, when you're only started to watch speedway from a certain date. In particular, I did give thought to some of the pre-war greats - Bluey Wilkinson was very close to being included. All the best Rob

Just to clarify that while it is a partnership between the two clubs, ALL the Stags home meetings will take place at Scunthorpe's Eddie Wright Raceway. There's been several people who have formed the idea that home meetings will be shared, probably because of the previous link-up with Sheffield in 2011 when that did happen. In this case, ALL the home meetings take place at Scunthorpe. All the best Rob

It's difficult when I have't seen some of them but: Ove Fundin Hans Nielsen Ivan Mauger Bruce Penhall Erik Gundersen Peter Craven Barry Briggs Vic Duggan All the best Rob

That's correct. There will be forthcoming Press Release (probably tonight) to explain this, but basically it's because it gets very dark & cold at the EWR early in the season, if the club run evening meetings. All the best Rob
