Haha, brilliant preview. Tigers to win 49-41, Sneddon to score 21-point max, and Paulco to join Deek's fan club. All the best rob -
Who Will Make The Playoffs ?
lucifer sam replied to Super Blue's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
The current rolling averages are rubbish. What a rider was doing last August has no bearing on a rider's current form. Rolling averages should only take into account 16 matches (last 8 home, last 8 away). That would give some actual indication how a rider is performing. All the best Rob -

Absolutely. I think everyone would agree with that. Everyone except those still living in 1962 that is. All the best Rob -

Blimey, didn't see that coming, great performance from Glasgow. All the best Rob -
Not a classic by any means, I didn't think it would be - I just saw the forecast was good and decided to get some speedway in, having been somewhat frustrated by the weather throughout August. Coventry is easy to get to, I know I can leave at 6.15pm and get there within an hour or so without too much hassle with traffic. Coventry's track has been far ideal all season. However, Watt's attitude was appalling. I don't know why he bothered turning up. All the best Rob

IMPORTANT BANK HOLIDAY CLASH FOR SCORPIONS FLUIDAIR POWER Scunthorpe Scorpions head into their clash with the Redcar Bears at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Bank Holiday Monday (3pm), knowing that a victory will help consolidate their current place within the top six of the Premier League table. It forms a 30-heat feast of speedway, with the Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Stags also entertaining the Buxton Hitmen in National League action. Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: “We need to bang in a result and take three points off the Bears – it’s as simple as that. “With the cut-off deadline for the championship play-offs approaching, it’s all about us getting the points on the board. “We will not under-estimate Redcar, who won here in a League Cup fixture at the start of the season. However, I feel if we perform as we know we are capable at the Eddie Wright Raceway, we can take the Premier League points on offer.” With Scunthorpe’s last home meeting against Sheffield disturbed halfway through by rain, Monday will mark Josh Auty’s full return from appendicitis. Auty looked extremely sharp in his two outings against the Tigers, passing Simon Stead in fine style on his way to an unbeaten 5 paid 6. “Josh looked so fast”, commented Godfrey. “It’s why we signed him on a full contract earlier this season. He is such a quality rider, and it’s a big boost to have him back in our line-up.” The Scunthorpe Stags will be looking for a positive result against Buxton, the team immediately above them at the bottom of the National League table. Both sides are packed with potential stars of the future and a great match could be on the cards. The Stags are boosted by the news that Danno Verge did not suffer a broken foot at King’s Lynn on Wednesday night as first feared. Verge escaped with bad bruising and nerve damage after a freak accident in the King’s Lynn pits, which saw him catch his foot on an uneven piece of concrete. Monday’s adult admission price for the double-header is £17. It’s just £2 more than a single Premier League meeting at the Eddie Wright Raceway, for 15 extra heats of action. The circuit rightfully has won the award, several times, for being the best racetrack in the Premier League, so a full and exciting day of racing is ahead. Admission prices for Bank Holiday Monday: Adult: £17.00 Student/OAP: £15.00 Child (10 – 17): £5.00 Child (0 – 9) Free (accompanied by paying adult) Family Ticket £39 (2 adults, 2 Children 10-17) Match Programme: £1.00 NOTE REGARDING ADMISSION PRICES FOR MONDAY FOR THOSE WITH A VALID SCUNTHORPE v SHEFFIELD RE-ADMISSION TICKET: Admission prices on Monday for those with a valid re-admission ticket from the abandoned Scunthorpe v Sheffield meeting from August 15th will be as follows: Adult: £15.00 (£2 deduction) Student/OAP: £13.00 (£2 deduction) Child (10 - 17): £3.00 (£2 deduction) Family Ticket £33 (2 adults, 2 Children 10-16) (£6 deduction) Expected teams for Monday (English unless stated): FluidAir Power Scunthorpe Scorpions: 1. That's a fair point Dale, it was a bit of both, the Scunny lads getting dialled in and the Young Stars starting to tire. In any case, it made for some fine racing in the closing few races. Meanwhile, good news regarding Danno Verge, who has escaped with bad bruising and nerve damage to his foot - nothing is broken. All the best Rob
-
I think you're also forgetting last night was hardly representative. The King's Lynn riders have 15 riders to get dialled into the track, whereas the Scunny boys started the second half cold. It really told in the first half of the meeting. On the other hand, the second half of the meeting was excellent. Strangely enough the meeting that ended 71-19 probably edged the one that ended 51-39 in terms of racing! All the best Rob
-
Anybody watching the meeting last night would have been aware how much the Scunny lads improved from Heat 1 to 15. Early on, Moggo was the only one who could near to the KL riders. Sam Chapman improved massively during the close of the night, beat the much more experienced James Cockle, and would have won Heat 15 but for a flat tyre on the final bend. Reece Downes reeled in Darren Mallett in Heat 10, but couldn't pass him. Sam Woods also became more competitive as the night wore on. All the best Rob

Is Aaron Fox on a work permit? If he is, should he really be allowed back into British Speedway in 2015 on anything less than a 5.00 average? - his work permit average. All the best Rob

Regarding Stefan Danno: He failed the breath test for the GP held at Bydgoszcz on September 23th, 2000 (the one where Mark Loram secured the World title). And then there's this: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/motorsport/speedway/3004173/Speedway-Eastbourne-seeking-Screen-replacement.html "One candidate is already on Eastbourne's books: Stefan Danno, the Swede whose international ban for failing an alcohol test expires at the end of next month [May 2001]. Cook, however, has ruled out a move for Tomasz Gollob, Ipswich's Polish grand prix rider who has remained in his homeland this season." So it was 8 months between offence and being able to ride again. All the best Rob
-
I think he was initially suspended from riding for 30 days, before the proper hearing was heard. It was late May 2001 when he was allowed to ride again, though, so it was 8 months after the offence. All the best Rob

I notice the "Peterborough Three" are still as barmy as they were 5 or 6 years ago on the Weird World... glad some things never change. All the best Rob -
From late September to late May... he failed the breath test before the final GP of 2000. All the best Rob
-
Two years is too long. The precedent was set with Stefan Danno - a ban of 8 months. Would mean Darcy was banned until mid-April-2015... I think that would be sufficent. All the best Rob
-
I think 8 months is sufficient and also it is the precedent set with Stefan Danno. It is a punishment - it rules out any chance of him finishiing in top 8 this year, because I doubt if the FIM/BSI would give a 2015 wildcard to a banned rider. And if Darcy is not in the 2015 GP series, I can't see Monster backing him next season. So he loses the GP and a major sponsor. At the same time, it would allow him to do what he does best from mid-next-April - riding a speedway bike. All the best Rob
-
I think it's been mentioned already, but I also checked the length of Stefan Danno's ban... it was 8 months. Would ban Darcy to around mid-April 2015.... that seems around the right punishment to me. It is a real punishment, but would leave the door open for, hopefully, a wiser Darcy Ward to return next year. All the best Rob
