  1. tim i think that is a very harsh statement.........and indeed one that also might have a detrimental effect on any possible takeover. Unfortunatly i dont get down to Weymouth that often now , but i can remember the absolute jubilation that followed the planning consent not that long ago,and the amount of support it generated not only from the local area, but indeed nationwide. Why has that support dwindled ? the current finacial climate may be to blame but also sadly an average team (the league position proving that point),complaints about track conditions, lack of facilities,eg bar and toilets.. has not helped. Ime not sure who you refer to when you mention "a great deal of people" but ime certain the vast amount of people who supported the club through the gate when it re-opened post Brian White..would do so again under the right circumstances. What would be sad is to see all the work put in by Jem Dicken, Rob Spicer, John Hawkins, Ray Collins, Julie Martin, Nick White...and also Phil, along with countless volunteers become a fruitless exercise only a few short years later.
  2. oh i forgot you jules................he will need to take photos as well
  3. nice try Wessexboy..........that will be the u 15 meeting then............ having said that.......Bob certainly knows young riders, is a big name in the sport, and riders will want to ride for him, ....he could be the man....... mind you can he do track prep, sell burgers, work the bar, empty the portaloos etc etc
  4. according to the newish Weymouth Website.............the promoter is in talks with a new team manager who is a big name in the sport.............surely it couldnt be ..could it ????
  5. has Rob Lyon said that Scott Nicholls is the captain for this season ??? personally i think Scott needs to buckle down and get some form back and then he may be re-considered
  6. If you take my advice avoid Cardiff Hotels far too expensive .............stay in Newport at a bed /breckie and get a train in to Cardiff (10 mins). Last train back is about 1130 i believe
  7. Thanks for the info Heathen 76 and 2nd bender, car parking wont be a problem as we travel down by train anyway........ thanks again
  8. We are trying something different this year................. to avoid the probs of a hotel in cardiff we are hoping to stay in Newport within walking distance of the railway station and catching a train to and from the stadium.. does anyone else do this and can they recommend any good hotels/ guest houses close to the station . any help would be appreciated
  9. thats gotta be a classic cock up even for this buffoon and not forgetting Phil Crump is Jasons Dad................. and also 3 points for a win , 2 for second and 1 for third.
  10. fantastic night have to agree with all comments..........crowd up, atmosphere the best i have witnessed (no doubt because of bomber) brilliant edge of your seats stuff................... What a great advert for BRITAIN and SPEEDWAY......... BSPA please note.............if you cant sell the sport to the masses after this .... well

  12. thanks Scribbler........................ive never been linked with the word brilliant before
  13. I take your point...........whoever you are, but where do you suggest that these Qualifiers are held??? If you hold them on any Conference league track someone is going to be at an advantage , If you hold them on Premier league tracks, again some riders will have an advantage and so on. The more important issue here is that the three tracks that staged the qualifiers Plymouth ,Scunthorpe and Weymouth, all benefited from an extra meeting and of course extra revenue, with of course the added attraction of some home riders to cheer on, which in turn helps to keep these tracks financialy viable. That then goes to help the riders and gives them somewhere to race every week. Without the tracks at this level there would be very few under 21 riders anyway............ Also do you think that an under 21 qualifier (mainly consisting of Conference Riders ) staged at say Coventry, Somerset and Newcastle , would have much appeal to Speedway fans in those areas...........probably little or none The present format may give some riders an advantage but eventually the cream will come to the top wherever they race
