Edinburgh V Glasgow League Cup 15 April
Paulco replied to SharpenRake's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
After the Banditos first away win at Edinburgh since .................well forever , it's puts added pressure on the Tigers to win at the home of the group's whipping boys . In all likely hood Smirker will be well nigh unbeatable , so we need to pack in for 3-3's in his races and take advantage of the weaker pairings . A two point victory will do , which will then put the onus back onto Berwick to try and run us close on Sunday . I'm very well mate , ready for my first trip to the fortress of doom , this season , on Friday -
Edinburgh Vs Berwick Fri 8th

We shall see . Early evidence of the 2016 Monarchs side must have alarm bells warming up . Two meetings , two defeats and one or three question marks over the side which started the season about a point and a half under the limit remember . 1 Sam Masters - started the season very impressively and could quite easily be the top man in this league in 2016 . 2 Jye Etheridge - apart from heat 8 at Glasgow last Sunday , though he didn't actually finish that race , he looks an Australian import of the O'Malley / Penfold variety . 3 Wolbert , probably be as erratic as ever point scoring wise . Capable of scoring heavily , but just as capable of not . 4 Riss , not set the heather alight so far , he needs more than most to up his game . 5 Fisher , on the downward spiral . 6 Clegg , see Riss 7 Bewley - horribly out his depth , hope his confidence isn't shattered . -
Exactly . Two well matched teams being allowed to do battle on a well and fairly prepared track , there is no better sporting spectacle than speedway . If you ignore the politics of the sport and just appreciate the skill and bravery of the participants , you'll want to keep going back for more .

Glasgow V Edinburgh - League Cup 3pm, 3rd April
Paulco replied to george.m's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Yes we did , no he didn't , and he didn't either . Danny has certainly endeared himself to the fans with his celebrations , the sport is sadly lacking characters , so he is a breath of fresh air . There will be tougher battles for him to come though as Edinburgh's bottom end was woefully weak . Always nice to humble them , but the final margin of victory should have been greater , but it's not too much of a disaster when a chain goes when you're 20 points ahead . Masters apart , the Monarchs never brought much to the party . -

Glasgow V Coventry (challenge) 27th March 2016

Thoroughly enjoyed it , though we deserved to nick it . Grand Monarch lets Serjeant start a race after being beaten by the 2 mins , but excludes both Tigers when it looked to me that the red light came on just as Barker hit the deck . But thankfully it was only a challenge so the result doesn't really matter . But lots of positives to be taken from the meeting . Danny Ayres was positively buzzing in the bar after the meeting , here we have a guy who looks really happy to be given this chance at PL level , he deserves every success . -

Horseshoe Bar for 12-30 , taxi to the track at 2 , 15 heats of excitement , then drinkies in the bar till about 7 . Yes my Sunday afternoons are back -
one week to go , hope next Sunday's weather is as glorious as today's
-
Yes he did , though in the same season he never returned for the Premier Trophy semi final , Reading used Frede Schott that day , who had a bit of a disagreement in the pits with Lee Dicken
-
Zagar didn't do Scotland very often in his PL days , so that's no surprise . Still be a decent meeting though , think i'll pop through
-
Stick with tradition , Sheffield is a great venue for the PLRC
-
Of course we will , nobody will tell me where I can or cant go to watch speedway . If the Tigers are riding , I will try my best to get there to support them , whether the promotions are talking to each other or not .
-
I believe I read somewhere on this or another relevant thread that James Cockle was ineligible because of previous PL experience . So if Cockle ( who is actually British ) cant be considered why does anyone think Mitchell Davey can ?
-
We beat them the last time they came to open our season
-
Blobby , to my knowledge , hasn't been spotted recently with a tumbler at Ashfield's speedway office door . So how can he know this ? Have him and Noel Edmonds got our club's phones tapped ? Has Danny Ayres been buying a load of new and expensive clobber from the track shop ? Or has Blobby developed a Celtic supporter's sized chip on his shoulder because our club , in the words of Harry Enfield , is considerably richer , CONSIDERABLY RICHER , than his . Poor old Mitchell Davey has to have a bush tucker trial in the Armadale car park because of the wages he's been offered .
-
Would it be bending the rules somewhat if you discovered an Australian rider had married a Scottish lassie and although had plenty of PL experience , though not quite reached even a 4 point average in about 5 seasons of riding PL , if a club could sneak him in at number 7 and hope nobody notices .

James will get a great reception as most of us realised the criticism of his starting was blown out of all proportion . This will be a wonderful opening fixture and as it's Easter weekend there should be a big crowd for it .

Scunthorpe Scorpions 2016?
Paulco replied to Paul Johnson's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
No thank you , i'll be leaving Newport by train on the Sunday morning , then it will be change at Bristol for one to Doncaster and then change again there for one to Scunthorpe . Taxi from the station to the Premier Inn , check in and a bite to eat in the pub there , before taxi to the track , so the more time I have - the better . So 6-30 is fine by me . -
John Louis was about 29 when he started speedway , and he had quite a decent career .
-
Would think that was a bit high . All the big PL meetings last season , Somerset , Peterborough and Sheffield had £20 admission , so that plus either £30 or £35 for a two day ticket would be nearer the mark .

Excellent to have an away fixture again on the way back from Cardiff , and where better to round off that particular weekend . -
Cardiff Saturday 9th July 2016
Paulco replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
We're staying in Newport again this year , far cheaper than Cardiff and only a 15 minute train journey away . -
Can we not just go there and enjoy it for what it is , a weekend of brilliant Premier League speedway . Somebody has to host it and where better than one of the best speedway tracks in the country . Who cares if Peterborough are seeded , after all the biggest majority of the crowd will be from the hosting club and they want to see their club in it .

2 nights in the Holiday Inn Express £200 , ouch , but it's more comfortable than camping . That's it booked now anyway .
