  1. We're promised 21 degrees on Sunday , be shorts and t-shirts on the Charlie Monk stand . Thankfully the wee shack sells beer now , saves the exhausting walk to the fourth bend
  2. Nice cordial atmosphere in the bar after the meeting last night , as both sets of fans seemed reasoably happy after 15 heats of entertaining speedway . Edinburgh fans , just happy to get a meeting on , were happy as their team got a morale boosting win in the derby and we were pretty pleased with the solid performance that our team gave , safe in the knowledge we had already qualified . We never really recovered from the disastrous 0-5 in heat 2 which gave the Monarchs an early 9-2 lead . Every time we chipped away at their lead , they responded with a 5-1 to pull a little ahead again . But there was enough exciting speedway to keep the fans entertained , notably heat 13 which was a cracker . I disagree with Pogo about Ben being a bit naughty in staying down , it looked to us that he couldn't free his foot from under the bike in time , irrelevent anyway as the ref awarded the race . For us Lawson and Worral were excellent , Aaron was a wee bit below his usual Armadale form and Ben never looked quick on the track . Lunna and Garcia worked really hard for their points and it's all a learning curve for Danny . Edinburgh just about got away with their long tail , the heat 2 gift gave Clegg his only points . Masters and Riss look worthy successors to the Cook/Sedgmen opening partnership and Wolbert will do a solid job , at home anyway . Fisher doesn't look the rider he once was , but he did well to win the crucial heat 13 . All in all an enjoyable night out at Armadale , hopefully we can find that little bit extra when it really matters in the league .
  3. Is the new stadium at Belle Vue real , or a myth ?
  4. Give Victor time , he had some decent meetings for us last season , notably on the smaller tracks like Rye House and Edinburgh
  5. I'm assuming Grondal does better on his home track because yesterday at Glasgow he was dreadful , seemingly downing tools in a couple of his races
  6. Too many to mention Sidney . There will never be another club man as loyal as Steve Lawson . 1978 till 1992 and he virtually carried Glasgow single handedly through the eighties . When we turned up at an away track and the poor announcer was trying to introduce the sides to the crowd and all you could hear was the Stevie Lawson chant .
  7. The 1981 World Final at Wembley , or the final of that international series which happened around the early to mid seventies . From a personal point of view , reliving the 1994 KO Cup final where Glasgow beat Edinburgh , or the second leg of the 1991 KO Cup final at Arena Essex with Glasgow holding on for a 3-3 in heat 15 this time
  8. Let's just say it's comparible with other sporting institutions around the city . But the main argument should surround whether it's right and fair that a PL club should be charging prices equal to or greater than EL clubs .
  9. I think the fixture compilers do what they can , cant be an easy juggling job with rider availability etc . But they try their best , next week I'm following Glasgow to Sheffield and Somerset , not exactly next door , but it's two away fixtures together and doable . Next month I'm at Ipswich and Peterborough on consecutive nights , which is a sensible arrangement . August has us at Plymouth and Rye House together , which although a fair distance apart , they're are both in the south and it makes sense to have them together . One off meetings with a bit of travelling are more difficult , but cannot be helped sometimes
  10. Meaningless meeting now with the Tigers already through to the semi final , but it would be very nice indeed to go through there on Friday and pump them
  11. The second tier isn't near high enough to see the action on the back straight , the raised bit overlooking the 3rd bend offers a much better view . You really have to get there early and get your position right at the front , I made the schoolboy error last week of moving away to get a coffee from the shack and when I returned a family of fatties had moved in with chairs . That has become another problem , you get the ones who don't want to pay an extra pound to sit in the stand hogging the front of the back straight with those plastic chairs , I'd bin those . Anyway as for yesterday's meeting , we were just irresistible , not a single failure , with Richie Worrall back from injury with an amazing performance . Peterborough's riders didn't look comfortable at all on a track with dirt , Ostergaard improved dramatically once it slickened off once we reached the latter heats . Tom Perry tried his heart out , but the rest were pretty poor . But on yesterday's performance we wont be far away when the prizes are handed out , especially if our so called long tail keeps on improving at the rate they are . Just wish it would hurry up and get a wee bit warmer .
  12. It can be a short career , so no you cant blame him at all
  13. On a different subject altogether , is the online shop up and running yet ?
  14. Yeah he's been brilliant this season , and rider replacement hasn't got near covering his points scoring . Panthers seem very unpredictable , impressive away from home though so we'll need to be at our best right from the start .
  15. No thanks , last week was really entertaining . Forecast looking a bit better as they are saying the rain will stop around mid morning .
  16. Indeed , but both races were developing into good tussles and were no means certain to end in Bears 5-1's
  17. Makes for exciting speedway though , Barker's pass on Bellego there was breathtaking
  18. Really enjoyed last night's meeting , best I've seen at Berwick in many a season . Aaron trying to shepherd Coty around with Robson all over him was the highlight , it didn't work in the end up , but it was a marvellous effort . Looking forward to returning to Sheilfield in June
  19. After his first race , Bukhave wasn't off the pace and Neilsen has impressed me all weekend . Was an entertaining enough meeting and the pre match predictions of a hammering were well wide of the mark . Worrall is the worst possible missing rider we could have as we're getting nothing much from his rides . We're not far away from clicking though , the signs are definitely positive
  20. Was very slick . We got out of jail a bit today , got a helping hand by some eccentric team management from the Berwick camp . The falls were mainly riders sliding off at the back apart from the Worrall / Wethers incident which was Richie's fault , thank heavens for airfences though . He gambled trying to kill off Glasgow by heat 14 , a gamble that backfired
  21. yeah , got the flu , been stood down for 7 days
  22. I've no problem with it at all . Jorgensen is injured , so Berwick are entitled to replace their number 1 with a guest . Anyway it makes it more interesting . Don't think there's much between Fisher and Tommy the tape toucher round Ashfield , so it makes Berwick neither stronger or weaker .
