This is so sad . I had a great night in the beer garden with Plymouth fans after the first day of the Fours at Peterborough . They have a hard core of supporters who followed the Devils everywhere . I feel so sorry for those guys .

Ah yes , sorry I wasn't thinking I think we will , he doesn't even get booed so much at Ashfield these days -
Who Are The Fifteen Biggest Improvers. ?
Paulco replied to Sidney the robin's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Richie Worrall has bounced back from his disappointing season at Somerset last year , to be Glasgow's number 1 at the end of the season , after starting it fourth in the averages . Young Bewley was making massive strides until injury stopped him in his tracks , he will start next season on an average of around three and a half , he'll easily double that next season . Paul Starke has upped his game a couple of levels this season and Ryan Douglas has impressed me everytime I've watched him . Maybe other country's governing bodies support their young talent financially , our mob don't -

Is there such a thing as a meaningless Tigers v Forces of Evil meeting - I think not . Ok we might have the treble to race for , but it would be nice to put one over on them in their own midden to round off the league campaign in style . Yes it could get nauseating as the Monarchs faithful fawn over the Prince of Darkness for the last time , let's rain on his parade -
That's the cancer that's killing the sport . Make the tracks fair and consistant for the riders , but in a manner that's condusive to entertaining speedway for the paying public . If a gating tart cant hold onto the lead because the racers have enough grip to work with and get the better of him , then that's just too bad .

Semi Final Ipswich V Somerset
Paulco replied to mickthemuppet's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
It's the tickly bit of these season , of course the rest of us are going to take an interest in meetings that wouldn't normally concern us . -
Aye a popular Glasgow Tiger in 2006 and briefly again in 2014

Semi Final Ipswich V Somerset
Paulco replied to mickthemuppet's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Witches in with a real shout in this semi final , the wheels are definitely coming off the Somerset wagon . -
What was billed as the meeting of the week in the Speedway Star , failed to come close to those heights . Yes it was job done for Glasgow , and i'm delighted , but the racing was processional and the regular tractor breaks contributed to a meeting lasting 3 hours . Somerset were ordinary , not looking like the team of the season at all . Grajczonek was his usual excellent self , but only Campton , Allen and to a lesser extent , Wright , offered any back up . After running Richie Worrall into the fence in heat 1 , Tungate made no further contribution to the Rebel's cause and Paul Starke looked a shadow of the rider compared to his two previous Ashfield outings this season . Glasgow were solid , led superbly by rider of the season , Richie Worrall . Hope our riders who took tumbles yesterday are ok for next weekend , Rene Bach looks the biggest worry . He also hurt his baws on a previous visit , deserved a boot in them after riding Richie into the fence
-
I assume it's Bach and the two reserves who can take Lunna's rides . I like the make up of our team on Sunday , Worrall has been our best rider this season and I think he'll cope ok with the switch to number 1 . Summers is good at 5 , racing with the reserves , and Lawson at 3 could be handy if we need something from heat 12 . Campton at reserve for Wilson Dean helps them as Wilson Dean was awful during the recent league encounter and it's unlikely they will have a double figure return from the number 7 position this time as well . A four point lead from the first leg is better than we could have ever imagined and now we need to finish the job against a very good side . The best two teams in the division this year should give us a very entertaining afternoon on Sunday .

Danny Ayres A Real Entertainer.

He's a bit too harem scarem for his own good at times , sometimes we're shouting at him just to stay where he is - third is better than on his ass . But when he wins a race he lights Ashfield up with his antics , yes we love him -
You've got to have a chuckle at the mind of the average Monarch . There's been nine rain offs this season in the West Lothian rainforest and it's all " woe is us , we are the unluckiest club with rain offs since rain was introduced to these parts as a way to water the flowers " . While over in the civilised west we've had two rain offs and it's " the buggers are at it , tactical rain off , they must have injuries and haven't tried to get the meeting on " . Yes it's a very paranoid place the mind of your average Monarch haha

It's unfortunate the way things panned out and I hope the riders hurt make a speedy recovery . It was always something that annoyed me regarding two legged cup ties , that if one of the legs was curtailed in any way , then the home side in the other leg could have an advantage . Clearly the way the meeting was going there was a fair chance Grajczonek and Tungate could have rectified the situation and through heats 13 and 15 could have given the Rebels a slender advantage . But that opportunity was denied them and I cant hide my delight that we going into the second leg with a four point advantage , the heat 2 5-1 being the deciding factor . I was a bit surprised to discover the Oak Tree Arena had a curfew imposed on it , given the relative seclusion it enjoys , but it is what it is . And battle scarred or not , we wont think for one minute that the job is done , there is still a few twists and turns in this tie yet .

Agreed . We kept it close for half the meeting in May , but Barker was at his worst then and that killed us carrying him . Plus the Bewley factor wont be there for the second leg . If we can get 40 on Friday I'd be very confident about the return leg 1 Yes 2 They click into gear , bit like we have done on numerous occasions at home 3 who knows 4 no can do in two legged cup matches 5 Probably 6 Glasgow after a last heat decider on Sunday

Shocking performance from Workington . Jensen touring round at the back for a lap before popping a wheelie in front of the stand , what's that all about ? Vissing's two fingered salute was aimed at the Grand Monarch ( the new Frank Ebdon - 1 hour 20 minutes , well done Jim ) for not stopping the meeting after heat 10 , although I've seen meetings run on far worse tracks than today's . Couldn't understand Worky's lack of interest today , it was a semi final and their last chance of silverware this season and some of their riders just didn't want to know . But a 39 point lead should see us comfortably into the final , with now Somerset to come in probably the next two Sundays . I don't see them capitulating quite so easily as today's opponents did .

Newcastle Vs Ipswich Pl Sun 18 Sept 6.30pm
Paulco replied to StevePark's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Barker was abysmal when at Brough riding for my team back in May ,he seems more suited to riding for Ipswich -
Agreed , Hansen needs to think every away track is Peterborough as him and Jensen were pretty rubbish when Workington were up in the League . The weather woman last night , on the telly , promised the rain wont start till around 5 o clock , so if we keep the tractor racing and the other nonsense to a minimum we should be fine .
