  1. Hope so , pissing down in Paisley at the moment and it looks like it's settled in for the night . Should be an entertaining meeting tomorrow , our top two will need to recover their home form with some really big meetings looming , this could actually be a dress rehearsal for the play offs , should we not make second place in the qualifying tournament . Sheffield are a bit hard to fathom out , we know what to expect from Stead , but the rest apart from Greaves have been very unpredictable round Ashfield . All have been impressive and not so impressive in their appearances . So the hope is , a dry day , a well prepared track and the tractor racing kept to a minimum . oh and a home win
  2. Couple of years ago I was sat in a pub in Kings Lynn . Again a small town full of tourists . There was somebody in a car with a loud hailer informing the shoppers and passers by and tourists about the Kings Lynn v Leicester speedway meeting going on that night . That kind of thing doesn't take a lot of effort .
  3. It's not just Edinburgh mechanics though , I saw it when the two Redcar riders squared up to each other at the fours , you had all those numpties flying in from all angles . We all know the red mist can descend with riders when something happens on the track that upsets them , we accept that can happen , but what is not needed is it turning into a mass brawl with mechanics thinking they are a rider's protector . What happened during heat 13 on Friday happens in meetings on a regular basis up and down the country . Aaron , rightly or wrongly , got excluded as the reason for the stoppage . That should have been the end of the matter . Why some mechanic felt the need to hand out some sort of retribution , when Aaron was the rider who came off , is beyond me .
  4. That's cause you were parked outside the bar with me , Willie and Wee George , not sure Davy H would be up for that ............haha Anyway back to Friday night , story in this morning's Sun about Aaron being allegedly head butted by one of the Edinburgh pit crew . Why do mechanics think they have to be a rider's minder all the time ? Everytime there is an altercation between riders , all these eejits jump in with fists flying . Time this nonsense was stamped out .
  5. I don't think the animosity between us was anywhere near as bad in the days pre-internet . Thankfully the atmosphere in the bar after the meeting was very cordial and the company I was in was very enjoyable and completely mixed and the craic was brilliant .
  6. Pretty much accurate , except Danny Ayres wasn't that far away from getting to grips with Armadale . He gated well and although we were waiting on him to make a mistake , which inevitably came and he wasn't done any favours by Lawson in one race , a wee bit more experience round tracks like that and he'll be ok . Richie Worrall was our stand out , and Lawson and Bach gave him steady support . Lunna tried hard and was unlucky in heat 2 , Summers was poor and Garcia was awful . But it was a meeting , not a classic by any means , of 3-3's which suited our needs perfectly . After about 4 heats it was obvious the target of 34 was going to be reached comfortably . Newcastle's current form could mean we might have to win at Armadale in a couple weeks to finish in the top 2 , that task wont be as easy as last night's objective was .
  7. actually , when it suits them they like to beat us to death with the rule book I hope both teams are at full strength though , then no excuses from either of us Anyway , Bewley or not , if we canny score 34 on Friday night against them we want to chuck it .
  8. This Friday the brave Tigers foot soldiers attempt to venture into the watery wastelands of the West Lothian rainforest to defend our 24 point lead in this KO Cup quarter final . According to one of the Chuckle Bothers , Edinburgh have a team full of Armadale experts ( duh , really ) while we have none . Certainly Dan Bewley becoming the hottest property in the Premier League now has made our quest to reach the holy grail of 34 points all the more challenging . Anyway here's hoping Aaron , Richie and the lads can don their wetsuits and surf their way to a semi final meeting with the Rebels .
  9. The big Green Gargantuan is now a cult hero at Glasgow . Heard on the terraces last Sunday , " Get aff the track ya cult " , well I think that was what I heard
  10. So true , the atmosphere on the day we raced Somerset in last year's play off semi final was amazing . The buzz you get during the play offs is so much better than during the normal season
  11. Every body knows the play offs are here to stay , no point whinging about them now that Somerset are going to top the table by quite a margin . Yes they have been the best team this season , but the idea is to peak for the business end of the season . They have won the qualifying competition , the real stuff begins shortly
  12. Think young Master Bewley will be top of every PL promoter's wish list for next season . Whoever signs him on his low average will be catapulted to favouritism for next year's title Good , away and annoy the Plymouth fans now and leave us to wollow in our self pity
  13. What we witnessed yesterday was a real emerging talent . Never before has a green tractor driver shown such guile and track craft . The way he hunted down and passed the red tractor on lap 27 , and then repeated the manoeuvre 43 laps later was breathtaking . Well worth the admission money despite the speedway breaks in between
  14. Maintain our 100% per cent home record tomorrow and that should clinch a top 2 finish . Wont be easy though , don't want to use the usual Edinburgh moan about guests making the opposition stronger as you never know what Jake Allan might have done , but that looks a solid septet the visitors have . Last year Somerset won the corresponding fixture , though we threw it away that day , and we gained our revenge in the play off semi final . We don't want to slip up tomorrow though . At least the forecast is for a dry day tomorrow , in hindsight someone objecting to us racing on a Friday has done us a favour this season .
  15. On the bright side , you'll be saving a fortune on cleaning products soon enough
  16. Losing Brady Kurtz has sort of ended your season , but you have that wonderful afternoon in Peterborough to look back on , as long as you're back next season Lewy I've enjoyed the mutual respect that has developed between Glasgow and Plymouth fans over the last couple of seasons , that was enhanced at Peterborough , I hope your club kicks on from this season's first piece of silverware
  17. Good 4 points , puts us back in the box seat for a top 2 finish
  18. Never comfortable with having a Monarch as a guest , but the laddie seems to be learning fast and he should be okay round Rye
  19. Edinburgh treat a visiting fan fairly and properly , why should that annoy us ?
  20. You're spoiled watching your speedway at the East of England Showground , you'll find tonight a bit of a culture shock
