At least he's not guesting for a three pointer Naturally I hope you're wrong . We need Aaron in the same kind of Brough form that he showed during the league meeting in May . The reserves worry me though , I don't see Newcastle being a Danny Ayres type track , hopefully he can at least beat Phillips . We need to keep it really close though , as Thursday proved , we historically are not good at pulling back first leg deficits too successfully .

Yes you have had some frustrating near misses too in recent years , but always come back with a competitive side and are challenging once again the following year . That's the way I want Glasgow to be . We've had a great season , and we might yet still end it with silverware , people are too quick to forget the awful years when we hovered down or around the bottom of the table , blimey was either 2012 0r 13 we went from May till September without winning at home . I've had an enjoyable season regardless , and Glasgow's future is secure which is always the main thing .

Speedway rider misses a meeting to go out on the piss quality -
It works well in ice hockey , with the league winner being crowned champions and the play off weekend at Nottingham ice rink is always a sell out

I like the play offs , but maybe it's time for a rethink . Despite Pearson's assertions that the PL never lets SKY down , they have no interest in covering our play offs , which is sad . So maybe it's time to go down the ice hockey route and make the play offs and end of season cup competition . The League winners are the Champions and the top 8 play off home and away in the play offs , first against eighth , second against seventh etc . Then the four winners have a two day big meeting at say the new National stadium with the semi finals on a Saturday and the final on the Sunday afternoon . Just a thought

Gutted I couldn't make the restaging because of work , and gutted about the outcome . I worry we're becoming the nearly men of speedway , That's two League Cup finals , a play off final , play off semi final , Pairs semi final and we blew fours qualification on the very last heat when the group was at our mercy . Still i'd rather be in the mix for silverware , than not . And there's still a KO Cup to race for . So well done and good luck to Sheffield , and to both teams in the play off final , I have good friends among the support of both camps . I hope it's a final fitting of the occasion .

Strange for you not to be moaning about one of the teams using loads of guests for a meeting at Armadale , funny that -
Hopefully the speedway benefits as a result of those renovations

Lack of a superstar number 1 at Worky might be one of the reasons too . Ok when Stoney ruled the roost at Derwent Park , the track was very slick . Co-incidence or not , I don't know , but the track has been pretty decent in recent seasons . But there's no doubt when the Comets had either Stoney or Stead or both spearheading their septet , the crowds were a lot larger than now . But also what is obvious is that Derwent Park is in need of a fair bit of upgrading , the main stand in particular is looking very threadbare . But that is no doubt out of the Comets' promotions hands , but not helping matters nevertheless . I sincerely hope the threat to the future of speedway in Workington is unfounded and the Comets come to the tapes in whatever form the Premier League presents itself in 2017 .

Had it not been for Aaron Summers' t/r down there , the two league matches would have finished level on aggregate . However we had Barker riding a lawn mower at that stage of the season , and Rene Bach on his old stomping ground should be a big plus for us . But apart from that heat 15 blip against Sheffield , the Diamonds have grown in stature over the season . So this should be a cup final too close to call with any confidence . Though for us Tigers fans , any Glasgow v Newcastle cup ties always has us thinking back to 1991 and that semi final second leg at Brough and Brian Nixon's heroics

No , we're speedway fans at the end of the day . Yes we love our club and we give them our hundred per cent backing , but we want to be entertained while watching our team try to win meetings . Aye you do get fans who want a stream of 5-1's and are not too fussed how that is achieved , but they are in a minority .
-
I agree entirely . Yes the club wants to be successful and win things , but there is a duty to give the paying public value for money and races over by bend 2 and far too many stoppages because of track grading isn't doing that . I watched people leaving the stadium in recent weeks , sick fed up watching tractors going round and round . And you really don't want to see fans being so fed up that they'd rather go home . When Ashfield is prepared properly we've seen some spectacular racing this season , lets have that today and trust the riders to produce the result on a fair and exciting track , and not become too obsessed about trying to unsettle the opposition with a track they might not fancy .
-
Day of our most important meeting to date , and no thread , we're getting lazy fellow Tiggers . This becomes the first leg now , so we need to be on it right from the start , and no prolonged tractor breaks when we build up a head of steam please . I'm not for a minute fooled by Sheffield's poor performance here recently , they will be more of a threat today , I have no doubts about that . Ricky Wells is always decent round Ashfield , and I've heard Theo Pijper's name mentioned as another guest , and we all know what Theo is capable of on his day . Kyle Howarth was Sheffield's best rider during the recent league meeting , and if Josh Bates realises he's at the speedway and not the Royal Rumble , then we saw last Sunday his points scoring potential . At reserve Greaves might be a bit weak , but Sissis can pop out the gate occasionally and when he does that he looks capable . Every Sheffield rider can take one of the Premier League rider's Champion's rides , so shouldn't be inconvenienced too much by his absence . We need more than we got last Sunday , yes the track wasn't great , but our reserves need to get among the points more than they did last week . It's a chilly Autumn morning , but there's blue skies and it's currently dry . So no doubt i'll see Tigerite and company on the back straight this afternoon , always a pleasure .
-
Well done Somerset , let's stop this nastiness between us on here , there's no history of this kind of thing between us . Let's hope we can get our chance of revenge in the play off final and there's no talk of doctored tracks , riders putting other riders off , pit crews fighting etc , etc . We have been the best two teams in the division all season , with Somerset a bit better than us most of the time . If we can get past Sheffield , which wont be easy , lets hope we can produce a final worthy of the prize .

According to our centre green presenter yesterday , it's not yet been decided whether Simon Stead will ride or not . To be fair , you underperformed that day . Berge looked like he'd never seen a speedway bike before , so r-r can only be a plus there , and Kell Brook was just back from injury and scored about 2 , he scored paid 16 yesterday , so if he just concentrates on speedway he should improve his score from the league match -

I see you're back , where were you last week when we knocked you out the KO Cup ? Every Glasgow fan that has posted on here has , A ) conceded that Somerset rode well and deserved to win , B ) acknowledged that Bates is an idiot , but had no issue with his eligibility to guest for Wilson Dean . So have your gloat , but the final and the season isn't over yet . -

Glasgow Vs Somerset Cup Final 1st Leg 9th Oct

Bates cut Bach's nose off on the run to the first bend . He went on to win the race easily and on the back straight after the race Bach obviously said something to Bates , which Bates took exception to and started swinging punches in Bach's direction . I've no issue with that , it's a high octane sport and they were both wearing crash helmets , so punches ain't going to do any damage . When it becomes an issue is when the posse of mechanics come charging out the pits to make it a free for all . When is this nonsense going to be stopped ? There's no issue with Somerset using Bates , a promotion has to use the rules the best way they can . Well done Somerset , that's one each in the cups , will we have a decider in the play offs I wonder
