  1. True , but your lot liked to mock him when he was a Tiger , there's no evidence he's improved much since those days
  2. It's the off season , people have no actual live speedway to watch , so they pick holes in other club's team building , or in some cases even their own club's efforts . We'll get this Christmas bollocks over with , then the countdown to March can begin and we'll all get back to normal ......................trolling and abusing opposition riders and fans , that kind of thing
  3. He has his moments . Apart from heat 13 in the KO Cup final , there was his pass on Barker in heat 15 at Ipswich which clinched us the meeting . Yes he's primarily a gater , and a good one , but he's not incapable of overtaking . He's better than his anointed father in that respect .
  4. Not always I get what you're saying , but nothing gets the crowd going more than a 5-1 over the Monarchs , regardless how that is achieved
  5. That doesn't apply to Scottish derbies
  6. I wouldn't worry too much about some of the comments on here . There are always fans who think they know better picking holes in other club's sides . Regarding Glasgow , the only opinions that matter are the Tiger's fans and the promotion and owners , and we're all perfectly happy and excited about the 2017 season .
  7. seriously ? A proven top three and four youngsters capable of considerable improvement isn't good enough ????? I don't understand your thinking That allegation has been levelled at them before , but when you examine the facts it's a bit unfair . Last season's novelty events first . Pairs semi final defeat by Edinburgh was one of those things you get in the Pairs . Aaron and Richard were sitting comfortably behind Masters when he slowed the race right down , a tactic often seen in the later stages of the Pairs , and Fisher managed to get past Richard , annoying but it happens . The fours was the most disappointing , only had to avoid finishing last in the final qualifying race , and that's what happened , but hey hoh . Then Richard reached the final of the PLRC - not too shabby . So close but no cigar in those events , but they are just the novelty events , nice to win , but not that important in the grand scheme of things . In the seven man competitions , we lost a League Cup final to a very good Somerset side , no shame in that . The play offs were heartbreaking , bad luck cost us in heat 13 against Sheffield . but credit them , they also beat Newcastle against the odds . But we bounced back to win the KO Cup . We had our moments on the road , the magnificent 17 points by Richie at Ipswich in a 46-44 win , and comfortable successes at Workington , Berwick and Edinburgh . Yes we faded on occasion , particularly at Peterborough and Scunthorpe after starting those meetings well , but overall it was a successful and enjoyable season , built round those three heat leaders .
  8. Apart from the KO Cup final of course .
  9. My one and only experience of a Polish speedway league meeting was in 2011 , Gniezno v Bydgoszcz . Scott Nicholls was riding for Gniezno and Emil Sayfutinov was riding in the visiting team . On every lamp post and every wall of the small town was a poster featuring a picture of the previous year's scuffle between the two at Cardiff . The result was a full ten thousand capacity stadium . Not saying anything close to that would be achievable here , but simmering feuds in any sporting occasion adds that extra bit of spice that puts bums on seats . God help the GP's when Nikki calls it a day
  10. Doubt very much the invisible speedway rider would welcome a return to dodging meetings at Armadale
  11. I'm confident that will be the case . We know what the three heat leaders are capable of , so that's the solid and dependable base from which to work from . Nike is a club asset and the entertainment value he brings made him a certainty to be back . He's one of those riders who can light up the most boring meeting by missing the gate and thrilling us with his efforts to get past the opposition . When Peterborough came to Ashfield in the league in 2016 they were very ineffective , Ostergaard got going all too late in the meeting , but the only back up he got that day was from Tom Perry . And that wasn't the first time his performances has impressed the Ashfield viewing public . He had made the progression from three point number seven in last season's Peterborough side , into their top five before injury interrupted his season and ultimately cost him his place . He'll start at reserve and will resume his progression . Jack Smith is a raw novice , but has a fine speedway background and there is no better place for him to cut his Championship teeth than Glasgow . Then we come to the seventh rider to sign , Dan Bewley . We all saw his incredible progress last season , he went from a wobbling novice round Ashfield to beating Richard Lawson in a time a fraction outside the then track record in the space of a few short months . The world is his oyster in speedway terms and his presence in our side epitomises the exciting potential the whole team exudes . March can't come quick enough now . There looks to be a few decent looking sides that will come to the tapes in the Championship , and while I respect them all , I wouldn't swap my side for any one of them .
  12. Be sometime in September I would imagine , and yes you read correctly
  13. Liking the way the Championship is shaping up . Impressed with the sides Sheffield and Ipswich are putting together , as well as ourselves . Going to be a cracking division next year I think
  14. Brilliant night at Ibrox last night , what a personality Richie Worrall is , cracking sense of humour . Simon Stead played his part too in making it an entertaining evening . Welcome Jack Smith to the fold , looking forward to watching his progress next season as he dips his toes into Championship waters . Signed as a full asset too .
  15. Who's all going to Ibrox tomorrow night then ? We'll find out number 4 rider then
  16. No , but is Cook Bewley's babysitter ?
  17. You have really no idea how popular Richie has become with the Glasgow support , as are the other two of the " top heavy trio " . Who's to say any of the remaining four unsigned as of yet riders wont prove successful back up .
  18. There's a Wetherspoons type pub 10 minutes walk from the track , the Golf Inn , we were there before the meeting when Glasgow were down there last season
  19. Glad to have Richie back , he was our best and most consistent rider last season . We might look a wee bit top heavy , but it's a potent top 3 in a weakened league . Whom ever we sign to back those three up , presumably Lunna and whover else fits , will have to improve . But that was the exact same scenario at the start of 2016 , and that side did fantastically well .
  20. Agent Wolbert is looking for a new club ..............................nah don't be silly
  21. Because unlike folk who have to be clued up , us mere mortals have a problem when reading the new rules . Our eyes glaze over half way down the page and we missed rule 347 , sub section 14 , paragraph 12 . Humble apologies from all of us who got it wrong about the four point foreigners
  22. Mark Riss would come back on a 5 surely
  23. That's the next stage of his apprenticeship though , he cant be protected at reserve for ever . Look at Paul Starke , kicked about as a three pointer for a couple of years , then his career started to make progress until last season he wasn't far off heat leader level . Who's to say young Liam can't make similar progress .
  24. No matter what we do , you cant please everybody . We all have our favourite riders and who we would like to have , but that is seldom achievable . Both Aaron and Richard are club assets , so were always going to be the first two offered deals to come back . I have no issue with either of them returning , though as has been said previously , their consistency away from Ashfield has room for improvement . Lunna will also no doubt be next on the agenda , but with the league being watered down slightly , if we can capture the signing of Bewley I agree with a previous poster , we have to maximise that capture by starting him at reserve .
