Only a week to go before me and Willie descend upon you . Hope that bar is going to be open as late as it was last season ? Is the Golf Inn near the track still open for pre meeting bevvy warm up ?

So it's almost upon us , the first derby of the season . No other meeting in British speedway yields as much passion as this does . Both teams are in relatively decent form , our three big guns are performing admirably , while the youngsters need to up their game from last weekend . This will be a tough examination . The Forces of Darkness have yet to suffer defeat , albeit they've only raced the weaker sides , and one of those severely depleted . They are led once again by the smiling , whinging Aussie , Sam Masters ( oh how you wish they'd sign Josh Bates for heat ones ) and the ever popular ( well he used to be ) Ricky Wells . The Riss brothers have started the season really well , and no doubt the Chuckle Brothers will be examining all options to keep Mark Riss at reserve till at least September . They have a new young Aussie , who seems to be better than last season's new young Aussie . And they have the most experienced two pointer in the league and Cleggy . So we'll have to be on it right from the start and lets see if we can show these Monarchs who's boss this season .

Whether we agree about t/r's , tacky subs or whatever , they do have the potential to give good speedway , which is something we all want . They really don't change that many meetings , but when they do it generally results in a classic . Peterborough v Reading in 2006 is generally accepted to be the best play off final there's been , the t/r's played a part in ensuring that .

We have a free weekend next weekend as do yourselves

Maybe you could come to us next weekend then for the rearranged league match

Berwick 2017 50th Year

Vissing is a bit of an enigma , he started the recent home meeting against Glasgow looking untouchable , but then ran out of steam when the going got tough . -
Berwick 2017 50th Year

The hope for Berwick is that Bridger settles down away from the number 1 race jacket , and Nick is a solid enough heat leader . But there's a lot of last places in that side . -
People can come up with as many excuses as they like , bottom line is - it's a one line track at the moment and if you gate and don't make a mistake you wont get passed . Bewley's , Lunna's and Perry's gating is pretty rank at the moment and try as they might , there's nothing in the track for them when they try to overtake opponents . Had Workington another quality heat leader to back Cook up they would have won comfortably . Thankfully our heat leaders can gate , apart from when Worrall penalised himself in heat 13 , and that got us home . Worky were solid , obviously Cook led the fight , but Jorgensen tried his best and Williamson rode well at reserve . The two second strings hadn't a last place between them which is all you can ask away from home . If it's to be a gating competition every week , then we'll have to get our set ups right . Lunna only gated whilst riding Summers' bike in heat 14 , and what a crucial win that was . The scoreline kept the meeting interesting , but heat 13 apart , it was a pretty dull affair . Stewart promised us entertainment , in his programme piece for the Scunthorpe meeting , we're still waiting .

That's the one

The move would be blocked by the SCB , that's happened before

Risager used to get slaughtered on here on a regular basis , cant see him returning
-
And he's not available either
-
Agree about Worrall , once he claims the number 1 race jacket he wont lose it again . He's been the standout and most consistent rider so far , but Richard isn't totally a gater , ok he's no Shane Parker slicing his way past opponents , but he has his moments , plus in today's speedway being an above average gater is a handy tool to have in your toolbox .

It's more the announcing that annoys me , doing texting for the updates site can be a pain when riders are making their way onto the track before the announcer has told us the line up .
