Peterborough V Glasgow 25/6/17 Championship
Paulco replied to bigcatdiary's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
When none of the three don't score double figures then we're in bother , but it's the first away meeting that we haven't taken at least a point from , so there's no reason to worry . Maybe the credit should go to Peterborough rather than look at our failings today . -

Bad day at the office , it happens , brush ourselves down and regroup , we're still in a strong position . But today well done Peterborough . -

With our three heat leaders , that's pretty much guaranteed . Reserves keeping us in it , just , no idea what's going on with Richard -

I hope so , we have riders that have gone well round there in the past , should make for an entertaining encounter . -
That was the point I was making earlier . We were promised the whole thing was to be ripped up and started again . No sign of that happening 18 months into Chapman's reign .

We're not all like that . I've no idea why some on here have issues with Peterborough , i'm just sorry I can't be there today as I love the track and the stadium . -

He just didn't seem interested last night , apart from heat 14 where he gated , then got passed by both Glasgow riders , then at least had a go to regain second which he managed to do ....just . But his first three races he was ordinary . -
Wish we had more than 5 these days ...............come to think of it , wish we had 1 That was my earliest memory of speedway , Bo and George Hunter demolishing the starting gate at the White City .

Was so nice to be in a speedway stadium full to the brim with supporters last night . I took my eldest daughter , son in law and kids last night , and she hadn't been to speedway since I would take her to Shawfield as a teenager . I could tell she loved it again , so I hope this has rekindled her interest . I was like a sardine texting to the updates site as the Charlie Monk stand was packed , the stand filled up early , and the 4th bend covered terrace looked even busier than what it usually is when the Monarchs come calling . The owners are doing their best to try and promote the club and the sport , and last night's crowd must have been close to 2000 . Yes we know that was down to the new supporters scheme , but as a family night out for anybody new to the sport , it was a great success . -
When the new BSPA chairman took over , he promised to make the rule book less ambiguous and make the sport simple again . 18 months later here we are arguing over yet another grey area that nobody noticed at the time . Presumably Sheffield would have had to have declared their team a few days in advance , so does nobody at the sport's headquarters look at these things when they come in ?

We said exactly the same thing at the time . Not the worst meeting , but not a classic . Just as well we got off to a flying start , cause Ipswich got better as the meeting went on . King looked good after a sluggish start , Heeps and Schlein backed him up well . Lawson and Worrall easily best for us , while Summers disappointed after a bright start . Easily biggest crowd of the season with all the freebies , was a bit crushed in the Charlie Monk stand . -
That doesn't look like the same Jimmy Gallacher that rode at Coatbridge. He had let his hair grow by the time the Tigers moved to Cliftonhill . Just googled him , his career spanned from 69 till 77
-
He never rode for Paisley , but was a regular member of the Coatbridge Tigers side . He rode in the early to mid seventies period .
-
one for Sidney . There was a Scottish rider called Jimmy Gallacher who Barry Briggs seemed to take a shine to . I vaguely remember Barry taking him down to Swindon , did Jimmy ever ride competitive meetings for the Robins ? He was the scruffiest rider you ever saw , his leathers were full of holes and patchwork .
-
That answers the home problems , what's his excuse for his away performances ?
-
was he ? oops
-
Think Dag Lovaas was probably the best Norwegian I've saw . There was a Johnny Faanfeng ( sorry spelling ) who rode for Glasgow when I was a wee boy , I can vaguely remember him , think he was quite good . During the Hampden years we had the tragic Svein Kaasa who was killed there 45 years ago this year . Torbjorn Harrysson who rode for Newport was also very good , and of course Reider Eide was the first Monarchs bogeyman lol Charming
