  1. Who knows what we'll get next year , with many tracks struggling . The repackaging this season was supposed to be a brave new dawn , instead all we got was a weaker product which has got itself into real trouble with doubling up now totally out of control . Is it any wonder fans are deserting the sport in droves . But on the plus side , we occasionally get meetings as good as we witnessed last night . A few more of those on a regular basis might just get British speedway off life support . It still has the ability to thrill and entertain same as it always did .
  2. Big travelling away support helped swell the gate , I shudder to think what attendances are like some weeks .
  3. Another blank Saturday night next weekend , we're going to struggle to get our home meetings done by the cut off , and we haven't even raced our KO Cup quarter final yet . KO Cup will be squashed into a week at the end of October probably .
  4. I'm in Paisley right enough , and nothing until about 10 minutes ago . So frustrating this season , for a few clubs . Something has to be thought up to have us less at the weather's mercy . It's killing our sport more than the BSPA is .
  5. How we managed to lose that wonderful meeting is beyond me , in control , then out comes the T-R and everything changes . But the real turning point was Summers' exclusion in heat 9 , and then having a strop cause he couldn't get past young Jack , he had started the meeting brilliantly then that seemed to affect him and his final two outings were poor . For us Lawson , Lunna , Bewley and Summers for half a meeting were brilliant . Bewley's high speed overtake of Williamson was a joy to see . For the Comets , Campton , Proctor stood out . Harris was fine once he got his mechanical issues sorted and Tommy the tape toucher took his usual liberties at the tapes , but did look quick in his races . As for the Grand Monarch , well i couldn't really disagree with any of his decisions and i dont really think he ruined a very entertaining evening . Credit the Comets for keeping fighting when the meeting looked to be running away from them early on , but as Julie T says , heat 15 was squeaky bum time , and that's never a bad thing for a speedway meeting . Great to spend the evening with Halifax Tiger and my old drinking buddy Simon Barton , been too long mate .
  6. This is a different song to what was being sung a few weeks ago when the signing of Richie wasn't exactly to everyone's liking .
  7. Oh I think you'll be entertained , can see this being a cracker as long as the weather gives it a chance . Plenty talent on both sides to make this a potentially entertaining encounter .
  8. He's had some good meetings at Ashfield in the past , albeit against much weaker Tigers septets . He's a totally different rider round Ashfield when he gates , poodles around at the back when he doesn't .
  9. Second visit of one of our main title rivals , well they were before the Forces of Darkness put a curse on their unbeaten home record last night . Nevertheless they will arrive with a wounded cauldron and will want to rectify that home slip up . Last time we raced to a 10-2 lead after heat 2 , which proved crucial as the Witches came back at us and it was 49-43 at the end , Witches being only the second team to leave fortress Ashfield with a point . Once again they are led by Danny King and a couple of ex-Monarchs - Poo Boy and the gating tart that is Justin Sedgmen . Cameron Heeps can be troublesome round our place and Newman and the reserves can also weigh in with points . For us , our big three will have to bang in double figures , while we could be doing with Dan not sleeping at the tapes on one of his rides , as he usually does . Showers are forecast , so the hope is that they miss the track as this is a crucial encounter in the race for the play offs . I know the top 4 is pretty much settled , but we want to finish top so we can pick Edinburgh .
  10. Hope we finally make it to Workington this season , looking forward to a small beer break in Cockermouth before arriving at Derwent Park .
  11. Ah the innocence of youth , try watching him ride for your team when it's perfectly obvious he's not giving his all . One night at Plymouth the Glasgow team manager was phoned from the referees box and asked if there was anything wrong with him cause his performance was that bad , still he got his new low average got him back to Edinburgh the following season .
  12. At Glasgow we are fortunate to be able to enjoy Dan and Jack's development on a weekly basis , i know they belong to Belle Vue , but i wouldn't mind another year out of them in 2018 .
  13. Both were in the Prince of Wales , probably before you arrived , but I spoke with both of them .
  14. Especially on the gating side . There always seems to be one race every meeting where he fluffs the gate , but with God's help he's getting there .
  15. This is about halfway through young Dan's second season , there are clear signs here and watching him every week at Glasgow , the next jump in his career is imminent .
  16. I did a head count coming in and there were 39,437 plus Willie and wee George were still at the bag search bit fighting with a steward for their carry out .
  17. I can , but it wont be at Somerset , I suspect oop north somewhere later in the season .
  18. And since wee George was in the Hilton , I can't think who the fookin beast might be lol
  19. You will indeed , heard you had an entertaining time in your hotel haha , and nothing to do with me this time
  20. I was sat in a very nice Brewers Fayre in Bridgwater when common sense finally prevailed and they gave up . The hilly , grassy slopes of the back straight and 3rd bend would have been hilarious right enough , for that reason alone I couldn't see the sense of starting . The road outside our B and B in West Huntspill was like a river around 4-30 .
  21. Well I enjoyed myself . Prince of Wales was enjoyable as usual , queue to get past the bag search was a pain in the arse , but better safe than sorry , though I don't think many Johnny Jihads go to the speedway , not even to Edinburgh . As for the racing , it was a better than normal Cardiff with a worthy winner , and no Poles near me being a pain which was a bonus . Had a chuckle when they tried to charge me and Willie £6 to get in the Walkabout at the back of 10 , behave yourselves it's a pub lol . Roll on next year .
