Unfortunately it's just the way modern day speedway is in this country . There always have been and always will be injuries , so a certain amount of guesting and r/r is unavoidable . But with doubling up completely out of control , and riders riding all over the place , that has resulted in those stats that you highlighted . Speedway isn't the same as we enjoyed it in the 70's and 80's ( i'm same age as you ) , we either accept it for what it is now , or until a radical overhaul takes place , or we find something else to go and watch .
-
We heard at Peterborough yesterday that was intending to ride tonight , hope he doesn't aggravate his injury in doing so , cause he has a much more important meeting on Saturday night against Edinburgh .
-
As we have seen before , Swindon holding the 2007 PLRC immediately springs to mind . The top riders ride most tracks well , Sheffield is a proper speedway track , not a wee technical trick track , so I don't see a problem holding meetings like this there .

Your team seems to be peaking as the other three members of the top 4 are wobbling a bit . -

Sheffield now title favourites after that humbling of the Monarchs . Is that the first time Sheffield have ever won at Armadale ? -

Would love for someone at BSPA towers to come out and explain why a club , who has suffered a horrendous season with injuries , when they try to sign yet another injury replacement - it isn't in the best interests of the sport . More chance of me waking up beside Kylie Minogue tomorrow morning than that happening right enough . You wonder how they manage to dress themselves in the morning , never mind run the sport . -
Who knows these days But this is a re-arranged fixture which muddies the waters somewhat . It's a nonsense though .
-
I wouldn't be so sure . It's unlikely we'd agreed on that date for an important meeting knowing both those riders would be missing .
-
Seems a couple of the rained off meetings have been rearranged . Thurs Sept 7 Glasgow v Workington Wed Sept 13 Glasgow v Ipswich .

Don't tempt fate , remember last season
-
Yeah I suppose he's better on proper speedway tracks
-
You under-estimate the scoring ability of The Swoosh
-
Same with r-r , i'm pretty sure back in the day if both competing clubs were using rider replacement , it cancelled each other out and both teams tracked a novice . Now it's common practice for both clubs to do so .
-
We had our 1-7 when we got our glorious draw earlier on in the season

The sport is geared too much for the benefit of riders and the fans are no longer considered . Going two and three weeks without a home fixture was unthinkable in the 70's , 80's and 90's , but now it's not an unusual occurrence . I know at one time we did used to shut down for Glasgow Fair fortnight , but that was a time when industry would shut down and people all went on holiday at the same time . Now clubs wonder why they can't get punters through the turnstiles in sufficient numbers , but the riders don't care as they're away riding for their other team . Saturday nights has turned out to be a bit of a mistake , certainly Friday night would be the favoured option , but that opens another can of worms .
-
I understand your point of view , but maybe it is time to make an example of riders who hold their clubs to ransom and treat that clubs fans with contempt . Ok Chapman's timing was a bit spiteful , but understandable as he's got a business to protect and those two riders , by their actions , were endangering that . How many people who were at Kings Lynn that night had decided enough was enough with speedway after that debacle ? No rider , ex world champion or not , should be bigger than the club .

Sorry canny get time off to make this one guys , wish you had made it Saturday night , then could have had this and the fours on the same weekend . Hope we get at least the same result as last time , maybe see some of you at Peterborough on Sunday . -
That's just knee jerk stuff , I wouldn't worry too much about that . Once things settle down and reality kicks in , he'll get on with it .

Regardless of any bad feeling Sedgmen has towards his employers , he still has a living to earn . So he might not like his situation , but it is what it is and he has to eat .

That was called promotion , giving away free tickets to new supporters . So the regular fans are full paying , just the newbies get ONE freebie . But yes I agree speedway was the winner last night .
