  1. Tommy the tape toucher making the ref earn his money
  2. Really , Pijper looked a shadow of his former self during the recent clash with the Monarchs . Summers got 17 at Newcastle last season , so his return last night was very disappointing . Worrall is really the only heat leader that we can be confident about away from Ashfield , which is a worry with a return visit to Brough in the cup and probably Ipswich in the play offs . Bewley has become very inconsistent , understandable I suppose being so young and riding in three leagues , Lunna still falls off too much , and Perry's machinery never looks up to the job . I'd have Richie back in a heartbeat next year with maybe Rene Bach backing him up and the team structured after that to give us a potent reserve .
  3. We'll see just how far we've dipped a week on Thursday . We lost by 2 points at Owlerton earlier in the season , I fear the size of defeat on the 31st could be a fair bit larger .
  4. The slight worry is that Thursday night's meeting seems to have duplicated our recent meeting at Workington . Rattling up a healthy advantage early on , then one race of madness upsets things and we never seem to recover . Still it's a point , but it looks like third place for us and a possible semi final with Ipswich .
  5. Why ? did they let people in ? What time was it called off ?
  6. Nightshift making components for oil rigs unfortunately , which has prevented me taking my usual place on the supporters mini bus tonight . Hope it's an uncontroversial and entertaining encounter and let speedway be the winner along with the best team
  7. A figure of speech , maybe a bit harsh , but i'm sure no offence was meant
  8. There are valid arguments from both sides over the last meeting between our sides , but that is in the past now and tonight's encounter is a big match in it's own right . We need to win to keep pace with Ipswich and Sheffield , while you need to win to keep your faint hopes of catching Edinburgh alive . And yes " my mob " are extremely reasonable .
  9. Why is it when a poster can't offer a reasoned response they come out with the " I got a bite " announcement . The safe haven to run to when an intelligent answer eludes them
  10. You would think , but the reality is that ex-Monarchs never score as much as you would hope when they return to Armadale .
  11. Harris seems to be the most sought after guest in the league , he must be making a fortune
  12. Apart from 2011 , and the last two seasons , this is very true
  13. There lies the problem with British speedway . We're at Newcastle on Sunday and they are at Ashfield a week on Saturday . I know double headers are problematic and to be avoided if possible , but in this case surely it would make sense to have double headers , league and cup , on these two evenings .
  14. It will be October now I would imagine . Going to be a busy end to the season as we've missed too many weekends during the summer for various reasons .
  15. On the makeshift team's track against the millionaires who aren't firing on all cylinders at the moment . Richard Lawson scored a paid maximum in helping one of our main title rivals win here last week , we need a repeat of that this week for us to have a chance of a needed victory to help us keep pace with Sheffield and Ipswich at the top . Because on current form we're the third best team in the league .
  16. I understand and agree with your comments to a point . There is so much wrong with this situation , but maybe the Peterborough promotion hands are tied with the rules we are working with this season . Maybe they would be only too happy to tell Holder to sling his hook for putting Poland before his Peterborough commitments , but they are unable to sign a replacement now and are forced to put up with this situation best they can .
  17. maybe , but what a ride that was by him in heat 12
  18. They are now more self employed speedway riders rather than a member of a particular team .
  19. He , along with Joe Thurley , opened and ran Paisley for the two seasons they ran in the mid seventies . And he was Glasgow promoter at Shawfield in the early nineties . Neil must be in his mid seventies at least , but was looking fit and tanned when he visited Glasgow early in this season . Jimmy Mac was the Templeton's nephew , don't think Neil was a member of that family tree .
  20. Neil has had his time in speedway , and now should be enjoying his retirement playing golf in Spain . Why would he get involved in something like this ?
