  1. Must win match for both clubs , I think Redcar can still catch us . But the big question is .......will guests and r/r outnumber the regular team members ? For various reasons Glasgow are minus Lawson , Bewley , Lunna , Perry and Smith . A fine achievement indeed to have 5 team members missing . Not sure the make up of the Bears side , but I can't imagine they will be a full strength , nobody is these days . Getting to the stage where I wish the season would end .
  2. Agreed , Topaz is not a person to make a snidy swipe . Just more a bit of frustration at Cook missing the Worky meeting to ride at Belle Vue , same as Richard .
  3. I would have thought so , but to be honest I hadn't even thought about it . Any time I went to Sheffield for this I always just paid at the gate .
  4. And Richard missing on Saturday , it just gets better and better lol
  5. After a disastrous run of form and injury woes , plus trying to cram meetings in before the cut off date , we could probably do without having to go to Armadale , but it is what it is and we just have to get on with it . I believe we've drafted in Mason Campton and James Sarjeant to patch us up a bit , but in all honesty Edinburgh look in much better shape than us at the moment and I cant see us repeating the result we got there earlier on this season . But we live in hope . We should just about scramble into the play offs to join Edinburgh , but I can't see either of us coping with both Sheffield and Ipswich over two legs .
  6. Looks like our season is imploding big time , was nice while it lasted . Think we should just about make the play offs , but we're up against it given our current form .
  7. The ice hockey scenario is the best answer . Whoever wins the league are the champions , then we have an 8 team two legged quarter final with the four winners going through to the play off weekend at Nottingham . We could do the same with a play off weekend in Manchester . Two separate tournaments .
  8. Fear not Jenga , speedway cant command the sort of crowds that your post suggests , a two and a half thousand capacity stadium for this event is perfectly adequate .
  9. Normally about 3000 show up at Sheffield when they host it , I don't think there will be as many travelling fans coming up here as rock up at Sheffield , cause it's more central , so i'm very confident there will be enough room for everyone who wants to go .
  10. Hope we can , Rory's bound to have a petted lip about the conditions and that could hamper them . We had the ridiculous situation a few years back when Birmingham missed out on the play offs by not being able to race enough fixtures by the cut off date , and ultimately finished second in the league once they had .
  11. We're down to go to Workington on the 23rd as well , which is after the cut off . The cut off date doesn't really affect much , Sheffield will top the league and will pick either us or Edinburgh , with Ipswich facing who Sheffield never picked . So if we have to run league fixtures after the cut off date , it doesn't really matter this season apart from the waste of time feeling those meetings have . But back on to tomorrow , it's battering down now and isn't forecast to stop for about 24 hours , so all the covers in the world wont make a difference here .
  12. Yeah even when speedway hating Storm Aileen and her 75 mph winds piss off towards Scandanavia , she doesn't take the rain with her . It's forecast to linger around like an unwelcome relative at Christmas for most of the day tomorrow .
  13. I think we've been brainwashed into thinking tracks have to be smooth and bald . I thoroughly enjoyed that last night , there were some terrific races , surely as a neutral that's what you want to see , rather than 15 heats of follow the leader on a one line track .
  14. Another re-arranged fixture to catch up on in this busy week of speedway up here . This could be a play off semi final dress rehearsal , so would be good to put a bit of doubt in the Witches camp . We're still a bit short handed injury wise , so bring in Ryan Douglas and it's our turn in the rota to use James Shanes . Not sure the make up of the Ipswich line up , though Kyle Newman looked pretty good guesting for us on Saturday , so he could be troublesome and we know Danny King will score heavily , but the good thing is that there is one or two raindrops forecast to fall tomorrow , so Rory might stay in the pits .
  15. It's a man's track and it's producing some terrific and entertaining speedway .
  16. He now has a British passport and Edinburgh use him as one of their two Brits
  17. A certain degree of common sense has been applied to the rule book . The Redcar v Glasgow meeting was beaten by the curfew with Glasgow about to get a 5-0 in heat 10 . And Sunday's meeting didn't have anything riding on it , therefore why deny the paying public a competitive meeting when Harris had been instructed to go elsewhere .
  18. In Mitchell's previous incarnation as a Tiger , Scunthorpe was one of the tracks he rode very well . I remember him scoring double figures there one night for us , beating Magnus Karlsson along the way . Glad the boy had a decent meeting .
  19. I believe James Shanes is our guest reserve on Wednesday , along with Ryan Douglas again . Mason Campton and James Sarjeant at the dump on Friday . But I agree , Liam Carr rode well last night in what was an entertaining enough meeting , only Scunthorpe's weakness at reserve stopped them pushing us closer as their top end were very good . Aaron Summers looked a lot quicker last night and Richard was his usual reliable self at home , Richie was up and down , our guest got good practice in before Wednesday and young Jack had his most productive meeting for a while . Kerr and Douglas were the main men for the Scorpions as expected , Palm Toft had an awful opening ride , but rode well enough after that . Allan was a bit erratic at times , but was the only visitor to lower Aaron's colours . Decent enough crowd on a pleasant Autumn evening , good atmosphere , only downside was what Tyretrax alluded to . A 16% increase in the price of a pint is a bit naughty .
