Workington V Glasgow 23/9/17
Paulco replied to scaramanga's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Think we'll all have to wait till after the promoter's conference to see where we all stand as regards next season . Workington have been one of the stalwarts of the second tier for many a season , long may they continue to be so . Whatever malaise has infected speedway at Workington , the hope is that it can be eradicated and the club grows stronger again . -

Good luck Edinburgh , an all Scottish final would be nice . Unlikely , but nice . -

I hope he's right too , and we can keep this close to give us a fighting chance on Tuesday . -

With both our normal reserves injured , that scenario is unlikely . -

Agreed . Keeps us competitive in heats 12 and 14 , well that's the theory anyway . Good luck to the lads , we're massive underdogs but we live in hope . -
We say that every year . The League Cup was always supposed to be done and dusted by June , but it never was . Just as well we binned that or we would be talking about Christmas . Once we start getting rain offs , and surprisingly that does happen in this country , re-arranging fixtures to cope with riders doubling up or riding abroad , and the issues that brings , means we'll always have this end of season carnage . The saddest thing I read on here today was the announcement of the Ipswich v Edinburgh play off semi on Thursday and Friday , and did the fans of both clubs declare that they were looking forward to it ??????? No they were fretting that they were going to go into the matches with 2 or 3 riders missing cause they might be riding somewhere else . That's a sad indictment of where speedway is just now .

Suppose we agreed to go to Workington on Saturday before realising the possible implications . Saturday night the place could have been rocking , be like a morgue on Tuesday especially if we get battered on Thursday night . Hopefully the 30th can be used for the home leg of the KO Cup tie against Newcastle .

At this moment in time I wouldn't bet too much money in us getting past Newcastle -

On his low average , he's well worth a punt at reserve . Mind you maybe he shouldn't have top scored yesterday , silly bugger . We're not paying him to top score -

Well he did , 7+1 in a curtailed meeting . Nothing wrong with that from a reserve . Wish we had a reserve who could do that away from home . -

That's what we thought , but now he's been on Facebook saying he should be fit in under a month . -

And good practice on the track for Harris and Holder ahead of next Sunday . You couldn't rule either of them out . -

Stood on the back straight you could see Summers visibly shaking his head in frustration exiting the second bend . It was evident the bike didn't have the speed required . Seems to have been a recurring problem this season , he has the odd meeting where he looks the rider we know he is , but days like today have become the norm . -

Racing was poor apart from Worrall's ride in heat 13 to protect a slow Summers and keep Harris behind him . Peterborough were very good and looked like winning the meeting from pretty early on . Looked like Holder got a puncture in heat 1 , after that nobody got near him . -

Jenga and Kermitfrog active on the same thread god help us . All we need is Jeremy Corbyn fan to complete the set . -
Thing is , Richard and Aaron are club assets , Richie is not . So that counts for something

Wasn't a classic last night , but the result was more important . Maybe it's me not being able to get into it the same with so many guests riding for us . But there was one or two decent races , especially when Barker was on track , wish he had rode like that more often when he was a Tiger . -

Sorry never started a thread , was at the speedway yesterday . Should be a more entertaining one today with Harris and Holder in opposition . Pressure is off as regards us having to get a result , and the weather is good , so lets have an enjoyable day at the speedway regardless who wins . -
I think it's a given that it would be better for team spirit if Richard and Richie weren't in the same side . So if it came down to a choice , Richie is the more reliable away from home , so for that reason i'd plump for him back . Adding his twin brother would also be a good idea . If that's not possible then i'd approach Rene Bach about returning . I think Nike and Jack are stick ons to be back , not so sure about Dan as he hasn't kicked on this season as much as i'd hoped he would . After that , we seem to be taking an interest in both Ryan Douglas and Josh Pickering . I think Douglas might have visa issues which might rule him out , but getting Pickering from our feeder club would be a good move .

We always suspected they had their heads stuck in the sand , this only proves it

Has there ever been a situation where guests outnumber our regular septet ? I know we went to Armadale on Halloween one year for a Scottish Cup meeting with only Lee Dicken as one of our regular side , but i cant ever remember it happening in an official meeting . Just another example of how ill thought out it was making it a hard and fast rule that nobody could make a team change after 31st July . Keep going Boz , between our two sides we could beat some kind of record .
