  1. Bickley is handy enough on his home shale , but Greaves is pretty good round Ashfield and will be troublesome
  2. All logic may point to Howarth scoring more than 4 , but you just don't know . He could fall in a race , he could have bike gremlins , he could go through the tapes , anything can happen . We had an alleged track expert as a guest at Redcar tonight , and he scored 4 . You just don't know what you're going to get with guests . So to start talking about rerunning the meeting is nonsense .
  3. We'll have Jensen back for Friday , that will make a big difference
  4. Maybe so , but that's the rumour . Friday's second leg has all the makings of a classic . 12 points is a handy lead and the tie is perfectly balanced .
  5. Put the pitchfork away. He's a young lad having a laugh . It happens with derby rivalries , get over it
  6. Never mind , all's well with the world tonight . That's Glasgow 4 Edinburgh 0 this season . Score would have been bigger today had the wind not blown the tapes onto Sarjeant's front wheel
  7. Agreed endless tractor racing and clouds of dust , no more afternoon racing during the summer months
  8. Anything else to add from the Monarchs book of after match excuses ? Ref tempted by bottles of buckfast maybe , temperature of the track too high , Tigers management putting nitro.in their riders fuel , wrong time of the month to race a derby match maybe .
  9. So with last night's terrific away win in West Lothian still fresh in the memory , we take on our pals again tomorrow . We're at full strength led by Mr Maximum , while god knows who Edinburgh have at number 3 . A packet of night nurse , a reliable guest or r/r . Should be a comfortable home win , just hope the sun keeps shining
  10. Had to laugh after the meeting at a conversation with those two notable worthys, Dick Barrie and Kenny McKinna . I said young Kyle was our man of the match and while Dick agreed , Kenny said " yes he can gate , but he looks slow which is a worry " . Kenny son , the lad just scored 10 paid 11 on an away track , and his crucial third place in heat 14 effectively won us the meeting . He can look as slow as he likes if he keeps doing that .
  11. Have to agree with that , we had all heard the rumours at the track well before the start and that nonsensical announcement was met with howls of laughter . But back to the racing , ok I know I'm a Tigger and any win at Armadale is special , but I really enjoyed last night and for the first time in a long time I could feel the tension of it all getting to me . Thought we were in control for the first part of the meeting , then thought we had blown it when the Monarchs got a 5-0 followed by a 5-1 to go 6 points ahead , but the comeback led by Mr Maximum was brilliant . I knew if we could get a heat advantage in heat 14 , and get our noses back in front , then Craig would do the rest in the deciding race . I was in hospitality and it's brilliant up there , cracking view of the track and the food is fantastic and the staff so friendly . Made it a special night for my family , so thank you very much Mike Hunter .
  12. That's what he was claiming apparently . And that was the difference , night nurse scored 4 , Howarth would have scored more than that
  13. No , not tonight . You are much stronger than last time plus we have a raw Aussie about to get a taste of Armadale for the first time while Vissing has entered his mid season slump
  14. In your own strange way , you're actually agreeing with Sharpen Rake . Whether Ruddick made it to the first corner or not is irrelevant, he scored zero and Coles should score at least a couple which puts you favourites to win even forgetting the increased scoring potential of Palovaara and Howarth
  15. The days of that kind of nonsense are a distant memory thankfully . Speedway knows that kind of behaviour won't be tolerated anymore
  16. This is true , the forum has been rubbish this season . And you might not be a million miles from the truth for one of the reasons
  17. Of course you're stronger , Howarth instead of Wethers !!!!! Howarth could score more on his own than what Wethers , Sedgmen and Ruddick scored together in the Shield match . So the usual downplaying of their chances by the salt and sauce mob won't wash this time . But I'll be there tonight in red and white hoping against hope that our boys can do it again .
  18. Where are you Blobby ? Does nobody care anymore , back in the day we'd have been slagging each other off for about 10 pages by now . Another symptom of the malaise surrounding our sport these days . Nobody is up for a laugh on here these days. Anyway as for the match , we are at full strength , although how young master Bailey negotiates his first foray into technical track speedway is anybodies guess . While the forces of darkness have Howarth for Pickering , drafted in Palovaara for the disappointing Sedgmen and Coles for Ruddick , which makes them a fair bit stronger than the Shield meeting .
  19. No , he won the PLRC the year it was held at Swindon . By the time his career had reached Glasgow , he was a major disappointment
  20. The meeting format was quite bizarre with riders racing against the same rider more than once in the qualifying heats , plus some riders , at one point , had completed three rides while a couple only had completed the one . When I wrote my previous comment , I was bored stiff . The opening half a dozen or so heats were pretty turgid affairs , but the meeting did get better as it progressed , culminating in a terrific final where Richie Worrall just pipped Rory Schlein by a tyre width.
  21. A wee reminder why I stopped going to these individual meetings
  22. We don't have a home match next Friday , neither do Scunny , why can't we have it next Friday ?
