Not Gollob bashing , just critisising the actions of a desperate man . He looked over and saw Jonsson coming inside of him and blatently crossed him leaving Andreas nowhere to go . I just hope Andreas isn't seriously injured .
My father gave me my first taste of speedway at Glasgow White City in 1968 ( the year before it shut i think ) and Charlie was my first Tigers hero . Always remember being devastated when rider control forced him to move to Sheffield a couple of years later , but i seem to remember he did guest a lot for us in his year away .
Surprisingly it isn't the first time i've heard that conspiricy theory also . Usually accompanied by Sky being desperate for a British winner .
Complete and utter tosh though .
Funny you should say that because i'm the same . Newport does come in for some critisism ( unfair in my book ) , but any time i've been there the speedway has been excellent . Ok Newport v Glasgow meetings are usually highly charged events and it's easy to get carried away with it all , but i've been to a couple of Welsh Opens as well and both have been terrific .
I loved Coatbridge . Ok the stadium was probably the worst ever to hold speedway , but the track with the huge bankings was brilliant .
As for away tracks - as has been said previously - the Somerset track stands out a mile .
I would love to go back to having a series of test matches . Like they do in cricket , with the World rankings decided by how you fair in the test matches . There are too many weak nations in speedway to have a competative World cup .
As regards Denmark . What ever happened to Leon Madsen ? He was supposed to sign for Glasgow a couple of years ago then changed his mind at the last minute.
Thought , at the time , he was supposed to be a hot prospect . I know he broke his leg , but that was a while ago and i haven't heard much about him since .
What was that meeting Tiger ? I dug out an old Coatbridge v Paisley programme from the 18th of June 1976 , but on the fixture list it just has the 17/9 as an Open meeting .
Canny remember that long ago Kev , but i'll try and find out . It was a big track so i'm thinking about 72 or 73 seconds . Got a feeling it wasn't a Paisley rider that held it though as they weren't very good .
I'll have a hunt and see if i've any old programmes in the attic .
