  1. Yes , but we were helped by having Craig Branney in for Mitchell Davey that day . And don't forget , results were all over the place in the PT . I don't expect lightning to strike twice and i wouldn't be surprised if today's result is something similar to yesterdays .
  2. Bloody hell it doesn't take much for the usual civil war to break out these days . Let's just wish Kevin the best of luck tonight and maybe he'll do a lot better than recent Monarch guests that have donned the stripes .
  3. Will have to see if the supporters club are running a bus . If it is indeed the 4th .
  4. We are at Scunthorpe on the 3rd and at home to the forces of evil on the 5th . Could be a hectic weekend .
  5. Was a bit of a favourite with the fans in his short stint with Glasgow in 2004 . Was told he became very homesick though . During Shane Parker's testimonial in 2005 at Glasgow , Sam Ermolenko was asked what had became of Eric . Sam said he had given speedway up altogether and spends all his time fishing .
  6. Swindon managed to give everybody 24 hours warning about a rain-off
  7. I don't think there would have been too many of us down tonight . I was down in June when the 4-30 downpour called the first staging off - so i would have been distraught had i made the trip down again today . It happens though and will continue to happen until we can invent something to make speedway less at the mercy of the weather .
  8. That's ok , the military will deny everything .
  9. Nah , canny make it tomorrow . Two of my offspring have birthdays this weekend , so i'll be skint
  10. Looks like Lee Dicken will still be out . Could be the same Glasgow side that got that heroic draw at Somerset . Assuming Joe Screen has got over his bout of flu .
  11. Spot on . Hardly Lyon's fault that the form of Britain's bright young things has went back the way alarmingly this season .
  12. My point was aimed more at the totally inept Jim Lynch . You are correct , under Middleditch (if not for a bit of Scandanavian jiggery pokery ) we might have won the thing in 2004 . But Lyon's appointment was pilloried by the EL brigade on here , i think he's doing a decent job .
  13. Well as it turned out , it was a great idea to use Kings Lynn . Perfect race track , packed stadium and a British victory . Doesn't get much better than that . Well done Rob Lyons and the boys . Funny how a team manager , written off by many because he was from the PL , can gel the British side much better than some of his more illustrious predecessors .
  14. Splitting hairs i think mate . Technically you are correct , but when the term " has-been " is used to describe anybody ,especially in a sporting context , it's always in a derogatory way .
  15. Made our own entertainment in the POW , before heading to the stadium at 5 to 5 . Wouldn't bother myself with all that singing nonsense when there's ale to be had .
  16. Our coach was parked down near the parliament building . When i walked back to it after the GP , there was an army of traffic wardens swarming round all the cars that were parked on the grassy bits . There was also a big , fat , drunken English bloke giving them dog's abuse What a way to entend the welcome branch to visiters to your country . p.s . how was the hangover this morning SCB
  17. Oh for christ sakes If they're all using them - what's the problem ?
  18. They were only talking about " winding it all on " whatever that does . Must be important though as they mentioned it at least half a dozen times during each race .
  19. Is there a point to this thread ? We've got Tony Millard , but you don't see any threads started about him ..................well on second thoughts
  20. had to skive off work this afternoon . Was fed up

  21. Depressing thread , but i suppose it could happen to any of us at any time . We've lived a charmed life in Glasgow as we are now operating out of our 7th home in my lifetime ( and i'm not counting the brief tenancy in Workington in 1987 ) . Probably the most nomadic team in British Speedway history , but we're still there and long may that continue .
  22. It is . We always stayed in Newport , as we used to ride there on the Friday night , but found the traffic a complete nightmare trying to get to Somerset for the Pairs - hence the move to Bristol .
  23. No Drac , that's only our billet for when the Tigers are at Somerset . We either stay in Newport or , as we did last year , Bristol when it's GP weekend .
