A perfect example of why you shouldn't listen to ill-informed tittle tattle at a speedway track . Joe twisted his knee and damaged ligiments at Plymouth last Friday (7th) and will miss 2-3 weeks . Nothing more entertaining than that i'm afraid . Erm no

Glasgow Tigers V Berwick Bandits Pl 9th Sept 2012 @4p.m.
Paulco replied to Paulco's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I enjoyed yesterday's meeting , and got the hangover to prove it . Though as has been a constant theme throughout this season , the rain tried it's level best to ruin things . Berwick fought hard and looked capable of getting something from the meeting , but Son of God and James Grieves with 5-1's in heats 13 and 15 soon prevented that happening . Son of God was superb , surely it's about time he stopped messing around and claimed his birthright by wearing the Tigers number 1 racejacket permanently . Tigers never really had a weak link though , well Sitera apart , and it was nice to finish the home league campaign with 3 points . For the Bandits Bellego and Alden started like a train , but fell away towards the end of the meeting . Was well impressed with Barrett , Berwick looked to have stumbled onto a good'un there . Just 3 away meetings to go now , starting with the House of Fun on Friday . -
Last home league meeting of the season this coming Sunday , but it gives us a chance to enjoy the riding of ( possibly ) 5 of last year's 9 riders we used in our title winning campaign . Joe Screen picked up a knee injury at Plymouth last night , so his participation is very doubtful . But James Grieves and Josh Grajczonek will take up their usual places in the Tigers' side , whilst the Bandits will have Nick Morris guesting again for them and David Bellego is the other title winning Tiger on view . Henning Bager must also be a doubt after missing Plymouth last night , following his groin injury sustained last week . While this has been a hugely disappointing and worrying season after the joy of 2011 , it would be good to finish with 3 points . Our visitors have had a nightmare season with injuries , but will still track a septet capable of giving us problems . Sunday's teams are - Glasgow Tigers 1 Son of God ( guest ) 2 Mason Campton 3 Josh Grajczonek 4 Henning Bager or R/R 5 James Grieves 6 Charles Wright 7 Filip Sitera Berwick Bandits 1 Nick Morris ( g) 2 David Bellego 3 Nikki Barrett 4 Robin Aspegren 5 Seb Alden 6 Micky Dyer 7 Klaus Jakobsen Impossible to predict how this will go , as the Glasgow line-up is still unsure . But at least it's forecast to be drier than the last time the Bandits were due in town . Late flash . Joe Screen wont make it tomorrow . Son of God is his replacement . A Lawson wearing the number 1 racejacket for the Tigers ......................oh the memories

They haven't not qualified yet , so don't congratulate yourself just yet -
no idea about the EL , but the Prem date was put back a week because of all the rain-offs clubs have suffered this season

Away from the usual nonsense , and back to the meeting in mention . As supporters we just have to accept that a rider is not able to clear the track in time . I know it's frustrating when a race is stopped when your team is on a 5-1 , but even if a rider isn't hurt in a fall he only has a matter of seconds to clear himself and a prostrate bike from the track . I remember a Workington v Glasgow meeting a few seasons back and i was shouting all sorts of unsavoury stuff in the direction of Garry Stead , when i thought he could have cleared the track when he didn't . A few months later the poor bloke was in a wheelchair . I feel terrible about that and maybe we should step back and think a bit before letting our emotions take over . -

Monarchs fans not too happy with the play acting i hear -
Yes , glossing over that unfortunate fact . Is it not about time you were starting a thread for the BEST social occasion of the season Spinny ?

Will make the play-offs . Solving the reserve problem is the biggest task your promotion has now . Had Tabaka stayed fit , you might have been looking at your 4th title in 10 years . Now i'm not so sure . -
I think whatever the outcome of the sale of the club turns out to be , any Glasgow 2013 side will bare little resemblance to the one we watched today . Forgot to say , respect to the dozen or so Sheffield fans stood on the back straight today . Your club is having the same sort of disappointing season we are , so to travel all that way to support your club ,in what was basically a meaningless fixture , deserves a lot of praise . Well done guys .

Aye not a pulsating cliff hanger , but enjoyable enough . Grajczonek was brilliant today , especially the race he sat behind Wright and kept Schramm behind him . Grievesy topped off a profitable 4 days with another superb display . Sheffield were well served by the EL Wells and Franc , when he gated . Hall and Skidmore were disappointing though . Not a huge improvement on the crowd as you say , but then Rangers were playing at Ibrox this afternoon .

I've seen it so many times round Ashfield . There's not many better than James in keeping a faster rider behind him -

Did it look significantly bigger ( the crowd ) to what a Berwick/Monarchs meeting usually attracts ? -
More and more promotions are realising that speedway is over-priced . To be fair to Scunthorpe , they were always one of the more reasonably priced tracks . Berwick did it last night , Glasgow are doing it today . More need to realise that to stop the crowds staying away is to make it affordable . I hope the Eddie Wright raceway is packed out for these meetings .

You forgot the 10 he got for Glasgow at Redcar on Thursday night as well -
Weather brightning up nicely . So no excuses not to get to the track today , it's only a tenner and for that you get to enjoy the majesty of Joe Screen . The excellence of James Grieves and Josh Grajczonek . The enthusiasm of Henning Bager after he wins a race , the exciting potential of young Mason Campton and the 100% effort from our reserves Charles Wright and Filip Sitera . People are friendly and the beer is reasonably priced . So what more could one want to spend an enjoyable Sunday afternoon . Who the hell wants to pay £16 to sit through Rangers v Elgin ?, who in their right mind wants to be among a lot of DIY weirdos in B&Q ? , there's absolutely nothing decent on in our over-priced cinemas . It's maybe a bit chilly for down the coast and Newcastle v Aston Villa on SKY will be crap . So what realistic alternative can their possibly be ? get yourselves to Ashfield .

Famous last words -
Big warm welcome to Mad Machin and his Yorkshire Tigers in tomorrow's cut price speedway extravaganza . With Sheffield being the only place we've won away all season , obviously we had to offer cut price admission to try and tempt folk along to the expected mauling . With our play-off chances all but gone now , only pride is left at stake tomorrow . But with last season's greeting and moaning still fresh in the memory , we'll be keen to send the inferior Tigers back down to the Dales with their tails between their legs . Shame Joe Haines is injured again , because he's been a popular guest at the Veladrome this year , whether it's been for us or against us . Teams for tomorrow's spectacular for a tenner are - Glasgow 1 Joe Screen 2 Mason Campton 3 Josh Grajczonek 4 Henning Bager 5 James Grieves 6 Charles Wright 7 Filip Sitera Sheffield 1 Josef Franc 2 Hugh Skidmore 3 r/r for Sanchez 4 Richard Hall 5 Ricky Wells 6 Chris Schramm 7 Adam McKinna Weather forecast looks fine for tomorrow , so they're be no rain off / sun off / anything off tomorrow . Any Sheffield fan fancying to make the trip up can do so with confidence this time , but not of a win of course .

That's astonishing gestures , and why this sport is still so fantastic to be a part off . It's a shame so few Monarchs post on here , some have their reasons after feeling agrieved at some of the posts against Edinburgh . That's a shame , i especially miss King Jamie's amusing meeting previews . I wish they would come back , and although we never always saw eye to eye ..............not suprisingly , i miss the often intelligent and informed input they had to the forum . Which is a poorer place without them ...........................................................well ok maybe not without Snyper

Disappointing defeat for us last night , when i heard Doolan wasn't riding i thought we had a real chance . The track maybe wasn't up to it's usual standard , but there had been plenty heavy rain in the lead up to this . We started and finished with impressive 5-1's , but the bit in between was pretty average . If it wasn't for falls and ef's from Bears riders whilst in points scoring positions , then the final result would have been more emphatic . Summers , Kus and Oostergaard were pretty solid for the home riders , whilst Screen was excellent for us and was ably backed by Grieves . Campton also had his moments , impressively holding off Oostergaard in heat 1 . That was it for us though , we needed Grajczonek and Bager on their A game , but they seemed more intent with trying to knock each other off instead of troubling the Bears . Still Heat 13 gave us some value for our entrance money , that was a superb race . But the most pleasing aspect of the night for me was spending some time with the Bears fans who are a welcoming bunch and a credit to their club .
