Aye you're right , my euphoria was fuelled by the Horseshoe Bar's finest ales and a certain football result , so by the time we'd opened with two 5-1's and a 4-2 I was in dreamland . So the Horseshoe had to be visited again on the way home . Be brought back to earth on Friday ...................................maybe

All joking aside , today's scorline didn't really do justice to the gulf that existed between the sides . It's up to the Monarchs to respond now , and I'm sure Friday's return fixture will be a cracker . But with the best runner up qualifying to the semi finals , it's a good bet both Scottish clubs will make it and could even contest the final

For the last three seasons we've had to listen to their crap , today they were well beat and the last heat 1-5 just made the score look respectable . There was only one team , Masters apart , in it today . The ride by Nick Morris to shepherd Serjeant home in front of Wolbert was almost Parkeresque , a joy to watch . Somerset petal

Somerset Rebels V Ipswich Witches Pl 17-4-15
Paulco replied to Super Blue's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
After Somerset had pulled back the six point deficit and went into a two point lead after heat 12 , i thought that was that , but the Ipswich 5-1 in heat 13 was a huge surprise and should have swung the match back the Witches way , especially with Covatti out in heat 14 . But King and Tungate were comprehensively outgated in heat 15 and though Tungate gave it his all , couldn't really land a blow . I was disappointed in King though , apart from heat 13 , he was very ordinary , took nearly three laps to get past Josh Bates in heat 11 -
Somerset Rebels V Ipswich Witches Pl 17-4-15

As a neutral i thoroughly enjoyed the meeting , even though the track was very dusty . Thought Ipswich missed a big opportunity though , had King scored as expected they certainly would have won . The fast starting Covatti was excellent , apart from the one race that he didn't gate , and Tungate was superb too . Didn't look much wrong with the track to me as there was some great racing when Grajczonek , Wright and Tungate were on the track . Somerset's top five had a strange night , mixing brilliance with mediocrity , every one of them having at least one dodgy outing . Still Josh and Brady Kurtz got it together when it really mattered . The reserve situation will have to be addressed if they are to be serious title challengers again this season though . A cracking night though in the company of Mr and Mrs Dietbowers , and nice to meet up again with Womble , Statman , Najjer , Pirate Nick and a surprised Halifaxtiger haha , cheers for the lift back to Burnham mate . Back to the humdrum of a Scottish derby for me now -
It's the Comets in town at the Peugeot Arena this Sunday , and they always give us problems . No matter what septet they roll up with , Ashfield always seems to suit them . And a fine looking side they have assembled again this year . Rusty returns , he thrilled us time and time again last year and he's always a popular rider at our place . He's ably assisted by our recent guest at the dump , Kenneth Hansen , and Ashfield experts Ricky Wells and Rene Bach . Kyle Howarth and Nicki Barrett have had decent meetings here in the past too , so we'll need to be on our toes to come out with three points . Sundays teams - Glasgow Tigers 1 Richard Lawson 2 Dimitri Berge 3 Aaron Summers 4 Kozza Smith 5 Nick Morris 6 Victor Palovaara 7 James Sarjeant Workington Comets 1 Kenneth Hansen 2 Ricky Wells 3 Rene Bach 4 Rusty Harrison 5 Kyle Howarth 6 Nicki Barrett 7 Nathen Greaves or guest Sadly i'll miss this one as I'm away on holiday , but I hope it's cracker and everyone goes away regally entertained regardless who comes out on top .

Berwick V Edinburgh Lc Saturday, April 11
Paulco replied to crescent girl's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
So that's the real reason for the lack of overtaking at Berwick , the riders getting impeded by the trees In fact , come to think of it . he never pulled any trees up anywhere much last season , barely managed a daffodil -
Berwick V Glasgow (sat April 4) League Cup

Very true . Despite us visiting fans going home very happy on Saturday night , the cold , hard facts were that every single race was basically done and dusted after the 2nd bend . Watching follow my leader speedway is not going to drag the punters through the turnstiles on a Saturday night . -

Okay maybe every race was basically over by bend 2 , but that was a brilliant comeback . After heat 7, and with Dick Barrie delighting in the fact the rider in red had won every race , I thought we were in for a pumping . But thankfully we started to gate and along with a wee bit of good fortune , we clinched a great win . -

No , they can walk on water apparently , but they cant stop it falling from the sky . I'm sure that will be addressed in time as they seem to be listening to the fan's opinions -
Disappointing we're hampered by the doubling up rule on Friday , but that's modern day speedway and we'll just have to make the best of it . I'm sure the guests wont let us down , but it takes a lot away from the meeting being without Lawson , Morris and Sarjeant . Still i'll toddle along anyway and see what happens
