After speedway's winter of discontent, it's great to see such positive news. Welcome back Mildenhall and looking forward to your clashes with the Young Stars
-
James Cockle has joined the Young Stars.
-
I'm not so sure Scott Campos will be back. He seemed to get dropped at the end of last season and there were a few rumours going round about a fall out.
-
The only downside from tonights fans forum for me was that the admission price for NL was going to be £10. But as many have said, it will allow me to get along to more meetings. Luckily enough for me it wasn't financial pressures that prevented me from going, more my family commitments. Taking up two nights a week for speedway when you have a busy job and family life isn't easy. By now alternating from EL to NL each week, I get the best of both worlds
-
Don't know if it has been posted before or not but the EDP have withdrawn that original article and replaced with this about confirming league status - EDP Sport Still undecided on what league I'd prefer. In an ideal world, it would be a stable EL containing both Peterborough and Ipswich. For us to go up and them both to come down only in speedway Actually - seeing that spanking our friends from the South got in the football yesterday, I can see why they're running scared
-
Cheers. Glad it's not just me then Not 100% sure Buster's always likes what the fans have to say, especially judging from the King's Lynn Town fan forums (not been, but from what I've been told) but it does seem daft to turn down a good few £££'s from takings in the off season from a packed fans forum
-
Is it just me that finds that article quite strange That just seems a re-hash of what was put on the Stars Facebook page which says we will "confirm team news". There are no direct quotes from Buster, JC or Rob confirming that. Surely you would just say we will be announcing our full lineup or our 1-7 if that was what we are doing? Team news could be a signing, which league, a new sponsor or anything. Also, if we are doing a full team announcement, isn't that normally done at a fans forum?
-
I can understand that I really hope it works out. Went to Peterborough last season for the Panthers v Poole clash and it was a great meeting. It would be a real loss to speedway if you didn't run. Well that's what most people I've spoken to think but it would be nice to know from the horses mouth so to speak. I don't want KL to be used, especially if it plays a part in closing Coventry and Poole.
-
I agree to a point. But at least let us know if there are negotiations going on. We don't even officially know that, it's all rumour and hearsay at the moment. PS - I'm rubbish at being patient. Can't you guess
-
Plenty of people I know disagree about EL or PL which is think is fair enough. Everyone has their own preference. However, EVERY Stars fan I've spoken to is pretty p***ed off about being left in limbo like this. Just let us know what's going on We are the only club like this. Coventry and Peterborough fans know they will be in the Elite if they run, which I honestly think (and hope) they will. At the moment, are we a EL or PL club. In the Lynn News, Buster hardly puts up a strong denial about going EL. Just says "at the moment we are a PL club". As I said on Facebook - how long is a moment though? A day, a week, a season?
-
By all account we will find out either way tomorrow! Just be nice to know now so the speculation can stop and the team building can begin.
-
It is all very odd. A simple statement from the promotion could quash the rumours straight away. The longer it goes on, the stranger it all seems. Buster is certainly no ones puppet, he's had more run ins with speedway authorities than most I can think of. He's done things his way and he's now reaping those rewards. As for the comment about going up and others expense, I very much doubt there is one KL that wants Coventry or Peterborough to not be about in 2011. I'd like nothing more than Lynn to be part of a 10 team league with a competitive side. If we are being used by other promotions as part of a big game of bluff then the BSPA can stick the EL where the sun doesn't shine.
-
Agree with that 100% We don't need EL speedway so it should be an offer we can't refuse. It could of course be the biggest game of bluff the sport has ever seen!
-
What's silly about moving up if it's a financially attractive option for the club I'd have much more enthusiasm for the season if we do go up. Lots of new riders I've never seen before and teams to renew rivalries with. If we could also attract a few old boys back like Watt, Batchelor, McGowan and maybe keep Allen, Doolan and Topinka. Add in a top line heatleader and that's a team I'd love to see. 6 Lynn or ex Lynn riders. Look at Rye's team declared. Out of that team, Tyson Nelson is the only rider I've never seen before. Plus Rye has never been a real "local" derby anyway. That's Ipswich and Peterborough. It's a shame Ipswich have moved down but hopefully Peterborough will still be in the league. If they are, those crowds will blow any PL crowd out of the water. As for seeing teams twice at home, we'll we've had plenty of that in the PL before with PT, KO Cup and PL matches. Every team in our PL group last season plus Edinburgh and Newcastle off the top of my head were there twice. The only way we'd see them more than twice was if we were successful i.e. KO Cup run and Playoffs. I'd be quite happy to see say Swindon 3 times a season, especially if the last meeting was a Cup Final Who knows what will happen but going EL isn't all doom and gloom as some are making out.
-
There must be a very attractive deal on offer for both us and Birmingham to feel the need to take the plunge. Let's face it, neither club has had to move up unless they wanted to. At least we know why there hasn't been any kind of communication after the AGM I'm excited by the new challenge but then again I'd follow the club whether it was EL, PL or NL because that's what a supporter does. There's good and bad speedway at all levels. As supporters we have to trust that the Chapman's have made the right decision. I'm sure the last thing they would want to do is to undo all the hard work, especially after the past 5 seasons of nearly total success. I don't always agree with how they run things, but I do trust them totally with safe guarding the future of speedway in King's Lynn. Let's hope for a competitive team, hopefully with some old faces with some Lynn connections. More importantly, let's hope Coventry and Peterborough join us at the tapes come March.
-
I've wondered the same. Seems to be a lot of talk on the EL thread of Coventry's assets being seized, threat of legal actions etc. Whatever it is, it's a sad state of affairs for speedway
-
Go on mate, get a little excited I dare you
-
Ok I've decided. We'll move up with we can have a top 3 of Harris or Pedersen, Watt and Batchelor
-
I'd agree with that, both riders will easily find a team place next season. Roynon has to be the biggest bargain of the PL season on 3.85 and I'm sure there will be no shortage of takers for Bjerre.
-
Well whatever happens, it has to be right for the club. The EL needs King's Lynn more than we need the Elite League. It must be a very attractive deal (if indeed there even is a deal)
-
The above post is in the Elite League section
-
That would be about right. Wait for years to get the Ipswich derbies back, they move down, we move up I'll be honest, I'm not against the Stars going to the EL as long as I'm assured the long term future of the club is not put in danger in doing so. I was brought up on top flight speedway and I want my teams in any sport I follow to compete at the highest level they can. That said, it would take a hell of a turn round by Buster if he was to take the Stars into the EL. I'll believe it when I see it
-
I think the communication used to be up there with the best (spelling mistakes aside) but it has gone downhill fast. We were always innovative (Stars TV etc) but it's all just gone to pot. Now it's no press releases and a web site badly out of date. I know what it takes to keep these things updated and it seems that they are spreading themselves to thin with the football club commitments. Exactly, that's my point. You don't miss it if you've never had it so to speak. But like I said above, to go from one of the most professional and dynamic clubs in terms of communicating to the fans, to near silence is a bit strange and I don't think they can be surprised when fans wonder what's going on. They don't have announce the whole team in one go or even have a meeting, just give us their reaction to the AGM, reaction to Ippo coming down to the PL, analysing team options or whatever. Straight after the AGM is probably the one time in the close season when fans are clambering the most to know what's going on. Thanks SS - glad to at least see something. Doesn't really answer many questions about a supporters meeting, the AGM, fixtures, or admission, season ticket and programme prices but at least it's a start Look forward to announcement at the end of the week
-
I'm surprised by the lack of official reaction to the AGM from the Stars promotion. Most teams have released something for their fans. Nothing on our website or Facebook page. Even that hasn't been updated since pre-AGM and that doesn't exactly take long to do Things have certainly gone down hill in that respect. We were always the first to get information out to people, publishing press releases and arranging supporters meetings. Surely there must be something to tell us, even if it's just sledging that mob from over the border

Dear Buster & JC With the Brummies going up, can we sign Chris Kerr please? Also, have you signed Travis McGowan yet? Cheers AJH
