Shame really. I fancied another wet weekend in Berlin or a weekend by the sea(ish) in Gdansk. -

Have the SWC run-off and final been confirmed for Bydgoszcz? Looks like it on page 1 but can't see it anywhere else. Thanks. -

The only reason I can think of (and its not a good one!) is that as SKY do not show the GP's they will not have to go on about riders qualifying during the British Final. Typically shambolic effort from those concerned. To paraphrase a football song, "You had one good idea and you cocked it up"! -
Coventry Storm V Dudley Fri April 19th At 8pm
oleoleole replied to Main Man's topic in National League Speedway
Really enjoyed the meeting tonight, nice to watch it without the angst of a Bees meeting. A few very good races and lots of effort throughout. Well done to Mick, Laurence, Blayne and all the team. Hope the crowd numbers remain healthy without the many Heathen fans. -
Darcy Showing What A Pro He Is Again
oleoleole replied to speedibee's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
It's a good job that speedway is under the radar regarding media coverage. Imagine this on the back page of the Sun! GO ON MY SON British Team manager condones riding an unlicensed and unregistered motorbike on public roads while under the influence of alcohol and drugs and fleeing from the police. Because it's what all kids do !!!!! The BSPA need to take a very serious look at this. -
David Hemsley is the guest of Nuneaton Speedway Supporters Club tomorrow night (Tuesday). For a nominal entrance fee you can come along and ask him any questions you like. Politely of course. http://www.nuneatonspeedwaysupportersclub.co.uk/

Why do you want a Lions select, what's the point? Surely most Leicester fans are looking forward to seeing THEIR riders lining up at the tapes alongside Scott Nicholls etc. And why are you so concerned with the football? Those few (maybe even a few hundred) of LCFC fans will have to make a choice but I would have thought that any Cov fans have time to do both. Either way I'm sure there will be a very large crowd and the vast majority will enjoy the event irrespective of the score and what team they support.

Really don't understand the negativity by some people on here. It's only a friendly, the result doesn't matter. If I was a Leicester fan I'd much rather see my team pitched against a full Elite league side rather than an artificially strengthened Leicester and/or weakened Coventry. What's the point in that? Of course Coventry should win but so what. No doubt some of the Leicester riders will get a scalp or too and some of Coventry's Poles may struggle with the tight bends, but I'm really looking forward to seeing top quality riders like Scotty and KK racing there. I hope the weather behaves itself, there is a big crowd and we all enjoy it for what it is.

Shame the riders had to cope with a very heavy track, but the highlight for me was Bartosz Zmarzlik. Very fast and skilful in difficult conditions, definitely one to watch out for. The conditions and falls dictated the pace of the meeting but the start Marshall was so fussy, he wasn't happy until he moved every rider 6 inches. Would have been interesting to see these guys on a normal track, but at least we had a meeting of some sort.

Have The Cardiff Tickets Been Sent Out Yet?
oleoleole replied to kluson's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
"Your tickets will be dispatched closer to the date of the event." How close do they want to be?? -
Just back from a few days in Gdansk. Great place, something there for everyone, thoroughly recommend it to anybody. Speedway just a 10 min walk from the city, £6 for me, £5 for my wife (sex discrimination!) £1 programme. Great view, atmosphere and racing. If you are considering going to Poland to see a league match, do it, much more fun than a GP and much much cheaper. We need to try other tracks now, so far we've been to Wroclaw, Leszno and Gdansk. Any recommendations based on sight seeing and speedway?

Would somebody out there be kind enough to confirm that Valsarna v's Dackarna(9/8) and Vastervik v's Hammarby(16/8) would both start at 7pm Swedish time. We are lucky enough to be going to Sweden for two weeks and plan on taking in these two meetings as well as the GP.

For those who may be interested, Glamorgan host Surrey in a Twenty 20 match at the Swalec stadium, just a walk through the (Bute?) park from the Millennium Stadium, on the Friday night before the GP. We went last year, not particularly cricket fans, but enjoyed the match and the atmosphere and still plenty of time for drinks afterwards back in the city. I'm sure I won't have done this correctly (sorry) but here's a link to ticket details; http://www.glamorgancricket.com/detail-item.php?int_id=106&str_page_name=6

When is "the time" for the investigation into the fiasco of the German GP? At "the time" we were told that now is not "the time" for investigations and recriminations and that the most important thing was the final GP in Bydgoszcz. Well we have finished the GP's for this year so when are we going to hear any more about the infamous rain-off in an indoor stadium!!? I am not holding my breath.

Gelsenkirken Refunds
oleoleole replied to westhamboy66's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Has anybody else had this problem? We had 7 x £30 tickets for the German GP, we obviously expect a refund of £210. We have received a refund of £195.30 ? Several calls later and a couple of e-mails and still not resolved. Has everybody else had their full ticket value back? -

If the free ticket offer is only for Gothenburg, Copenhagen or Cardiff, what about those of us who already have their Cardiff tickets and are very wary of venturing abroad again after being let down twice in seven overseas GP's. I may mellow over time but the shock of hearing that the GP was cancelled while waiting at Dusseldorf station made you swear that you would never go to another foriegn GP. -
"british Fans A Disgrace"
oleoleole replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
The reason I booed is what I saw as "gamesmanship" employed by Nicki. I might be alone on this but he seems to have developed this "skill" of cutting across from outside gates and putting his front wheel where it is going to be taken away by the inside rider, going down very easily and then laying for ages at the bottom of the fence. He did the same to Jason Crump in the Leszno GP and twice on Saturday. I presume if he keeps winning the decisions from the refs it will keep happening. As far as I am concerned it is akin to a footballer diving in the penalty area. (However I did applaud his efforts to clear the track in the final) -
Looking at the draw for the preliminary rounds of the World Cup it looks like Greg Hancock is going to have to be in two places at the same time!? Saturday 24th May. SWC. Qualifying round 1. Miskolc, Hungary. Teams; Germany, USA, Hungary and Latvia. Saturday 24th May. SGP Gothenburg. Presumably he will be in the GP but that will severely weaken the USA team. Strange planning?

If the one off tracks are so delicate why do they have to have a practice? Everybody seems to agree that the track on Friday was very good. Why couldn't that have been the track for the GP itself? All the riders would have the same advantage/disadvantage and the track laid during the week is not ripped apart on the Friday only to be repaired and packed down in 24 hours. The riders often complain that the track at practice is very different to the meeting itself so why bother at all at any GP? How about having a short practice session an hour or so before the meeting? Something for the waiting fans to enjoy and the riders can get an idea of the set ups required. If they had this short session before the meeting, the riders would have a chance to ease any pre meeting nerves, the fans wouldn't have to endure some half baked pop group and best of all the usually processional first few races would be a thing of the past as the track would have been "broken in".
