  1. Chris van Straaten is the guest speaker at the NSSC tonight. Maybe he will be able to answer these questions?
  2. I thought they'd sorted these indoor tracks out. Certainly had plenty of practice, but Cardiff was mighty close to being a non-starter last year. The track at practice was almost un-rideable and certainly not raceable. Only an immense amount of work overnight saved the day. Now it seems something similar could have happened at Parken. Worrying!
  3. Having watched the clip (in which Smolinski was not excluded for, by the way) I cannot see why he is getting tarred with the same brush as Pedersen. The distant camera angle is not conclusive but Smolinski does not appear to move off his line entering the bend. Certainly nothing like Pedersen v Zagar. For me the worse thing about the Pedersen/Zagar incident was Niki's total lack of respect or interest in the rider he had just knocked off (wether intentionally or not). A raised hand of apology or a check to make sure he was OK would have at least maintained his stance that it was a racing incident. His attitude from the moment they crashed to the scenes in the pits was just unacceptable. If you are going to ban riders for what happened in Olching then we may as well pack up and watch curling because there won't be any riders left.
  4. If the track shape can be changed for next year then obviously there was a problem this year. This problem should have been spotted and solved by whoever the experts are months ago. As "mere" fans we knew the track was too narrow as soon as we saw it on Wednesday. The country, city and people have been great, but most of those who travelled this year and the locals, who left in droves before the end, will not be there next year. What a mess! BSI/IMG need to concentrate on the track. Get that right and everything else will follow, however they seem more interested in their bloody fan zone and Monster Energy!!
  5. Has the sale of the stadium actually gone through yet? If so, who to and what are their plans? Until this is clarified and is fact, not gossip, surely nothing can be done yet. When the news broke the "sale was imminent" but I haven't seen anything official since.
  6. What a load of rubbish from the usual suspects. If you banned every rider who caused a crash they'd be none left. I like Tai but I thought his challenge that ended Gollob's season was much worse, very reckless, but I didn't see any comments from Mr Ford then. As shown in a previous post, Darcy tried exactly the same move in the 2013 NZSGP. Maybe rather than banning riders who cause crashes, we should ban overtaking, then there would be far fewer accidents.........
  7. Perhaps Darcy Ward ought to look at this before taking Smoli to task. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vlqUKJ6SwP0 Same bend, the previous year, heat 14. To be fair he just managed to save it but very very close to a similar outcome.
  8. Another sloppy PR exercise by Coventry. What we saw on that night was not 6 heats of "speedway". It was some young lads trying their best on a pudding of a track. To regain any good faith surely it should have been free admission to another Storm meeting. If they are charging £1 for each heat we should claim back £1 for every 5 minutes we were sitting in the freezing cold waiting for something to happen....not to mention the £2 wasted on a pathetic "programme". As others have said it was a shambolic night from start to finish and this paltry gesture sums it up!
  9. You should have been there Gemini. The picture round was "Spot the dog". 32 pictures of dogs, cartoons and TV/films e.g. Muttley, Shep, Goofy, Beethoven etc etc
  10. Thank you to everybody who came to the quiz last night, I hope you enjoyed it. We had 14 teams and raised over £200 which will be used to encourage and support young British riders. We are already one of the main sponsors of the British Under 16 Championships and hope to have some more major sponsorship news soon. Thank you very much for your support.
  11. Right. The quiz is all ready. It will be "lighter" than the Christmas Quiz with rounds on music, films, TV, sport, news, what you should have learnt at school and of course speedway. Together with a couple of picture rounds. Hope you can come along and have a guess, a chat and a laugh with fellow fans.
  12. Following the success of our Christmas Quiz where we had 19 teams and raised £335, we are running another quiz this next Tuesday, 4th March, 7:30 for a prompt 8:00 start. Teams of 4 at £3 per person. Don't worry if you haven't got a team, just come along, you will be made most welcome. A chance to meet up with your speedway chums before the season starts. It looks like we will have a lot to talk about ! As usual all monies raised will be used to encourage and support young British Riders. For more details on the quiz and what we do, please go to our website; http://www.nuneatonspeedwaysupportersclub.co.uk/
  13. A big thank you to everyone who attended last nights Quiz at the NSSC. With your help we've added £335 to the kitty to support young British riders. We'd particularly like to thank; Tony Steele, Jim Lawrence, Chris Durno, Jim Lynch, John Clarke (Mr Buildbase), Mick Horton, Blayne Scoggins, Neil Watson, Laurence Rogers, Adam Roynon, Chris Harris and Phil Morris. We really appreciate your support for what we do. Together we are supporting young British riders.
  14. Just heard that Leicester will be represented by David Hemsley and his team. Great to have their support. By the way do not be put off if you do not have a team. You can either join in as an individual or make up a team on the night. There were 25 teams last year so there will be plenty of familiar speedway faces.
  15. There's been plenty of support from within the speedway world. Mick Horton is bringing a Coventry team and Rory Schlein & Adam Roynon complete another formidable outfit. The team to beat appears to be "The Lynch Mob" a fine quartet comprising of Tony Steele, Jim Lawrence and Jim & Sarah Lynch. However the "King of Quizzes" Phil Morris is coming......so you'd better get your thinking caps on!
  16. It would be a priceless boost for the sport if Tai was one of the nominations for BBC Sports Personality of the Year. Apparently they are announced on November 26th. Their Twitter address is @BBCSPOTY. I'm sure there must be other ways of getting in touch. Let's keep his name in their minds.
  17. Shame really. I fancied another wet weekend in Berlin or a weekend by the sea(ish) in Gdansk.
  18. Have the SWC run-off and final been confirmed for Bydgoszcz? Looks like it on page 1 but can't see it anywhere else. Thanks.
  19. The only reason I can think of (and its not a good one!) is that as SKY do not show the GP's they will not have to go on about riders qualifying during the British Final. Typically shambolic effort from those concerned. To paraphrase a football song, "You had one good idea and you cocked it up"!
  20. Really enjoyed the meeting tonight, nice to watch it without the angst of a Bees meeting. A few very good races and lots of effort throughout. Well done to Mick, Laurence, Blayne and all the team. Hope the crowd numbers remain healthy without the many Heathen fans.
  21. Done. Even had a little rant about riders turning straight back to the pits after winning a race. Acknowledge/include the fans, particularly kids, it costs nothing.
  22. It's a good job that speedway is under the radar regarding media coverage. Imagine this on the back page of the Sun! GO ON MY SON British Team manager condones riding an unlicensed and unregistered motorbike on public roads while under the influence of alcohol and drugs and fleeing from the police. Because it's what all kids do !!!!! The BSPA need to take a very serious look at this.
  23. David Hemsley is the guest of Nuneaton Speedway Supporters Club tomorrow night (Tuesday). For a nominal entrance fee you can come along and ask him any questions you like. Politely of course. http://www.nuneatonspeedwaysupportersclub.co.uk/
  24. Why do you want a Lions select, what's the point? Surely most Leicester fans are looking forward to seeing THEIR riders lining up at the tapes alongside Scott Nicholls etc. And why are you so concerned with the football? Those few (maybe even a few hundred) of LCFC fans will have to make a choice but I would have thought that any Cov fans have time to do both. Either way I'm sure there will be a very large crowd and the vast majority will enjoy the event irrespective of the score and what team they support.
