From the NSSC website …… Pippa is a FIM Commission member for Women and is also the first Ambassador for Women in Motorcycle Racing at the ACU, a role specifically created for her. Pippa has spent over twenty years involved with motorcycle sports, initially through her relationship with Irish Superbike and Moto GP racer, Eugene Laverty, who is now her husband. Pippa has recently fallen in love with our sport and is gutted that she hasn't been involved before now. One of her key passions and focus is to help raise the profile of women's speedway on the international stage, and in the last three years she's had some notable success. Her role within the ACU though has expanded beyond this now, so for example, Pippa is also responsible for their social media output as well. British Speedway also benefits as she has applied her skill set to help with their media events, hospitality and sponsorship. Pippa certainly knows her way round the ACU rule book and regulations and took the time to attain a clerk of the course licence. She understands and respects that the governing body is made up of volunteers who are passionate about making improvements within the sport, rather than just police it As is the case with many enterprising women striving to make a positive change within male dominated motorcycle sports, Pippa has skilfully learned how to open doors in order to achieve her goals and has responded to any barriers positively as a challenge.

It was a very interesting meeting with Bert and Peter and great to see Jim McMillan there too. The next meeting is on 14th October with all proceeds for the SRBF. Representing the Ben’ Fund will be Paul Ackroyd, Chris Van Straaten and Jan Staechmann. Everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy an evening of speedway chatter and help the SRBF. Only £4 entry with a bumper raffle to raise more funds. -
The next three meetings at the NSSC offer an insight into organisations working hard to improve and support speedway. On Tuesday 16th September Bert Harkins and Peter Schroeck represent the World Speedway Riders Association. The WSRA is the oldest and most prestigious association for former riders, officials and supporters. Apart from their support of former riders the WSRA have sponsored the NDL for the last two seasons and offer other incentives for young riders. On Tuesday 14th October the NSSC host a special Speedway Riders Benevolent Fund evening. Joining Paul Ackroyd will be Chris Van Straaten and Jan Staechmann. Lots to discuss with some very interesting guests with all proceeds on the night going to the SRBF. On Tuesday 28th October the NSSC welcomes Pippa Laverty who is on the FIM Women’s Commission and the ACU Ambassador for Women. Another interesting evening discussing the future of women in speedway. All meetings start at 8pm. Everyone is welcome with entry only £4. All proceeds for the GB Young Lions (except for the Ben’ Fund evening) The venue is the Brandon Club (which is just down the road from the stadium) Brandon Club, Main Street, Brandon, Coventry, CV8 3HW Car park at rear and plenty of on-street parking. We are having a rather disappointing Swedish speedway trip. The Swedish Final called off on Tuesday (understandable due to very heavy showers on Monday & more rain early Tuesday evening but to travel to Griparna tonight after a sunny hot day in the mid 20’s only to be told it was cancelled at 6pm was a real shock. Presumably they haven’t got the manpower or kit to sort the track out after the rain early in the week. Meanwhile the lads on the Moto X track next to the speedway track were kicking up dust ! Big pressure on Solkatterna next week to get a meeting on.

A quartet featuring, Ian Brannan, Ben Duffill, Martin Hunter and Greg Blair will be bringing the full 'BSN Experience' to the NSSC on Tuesday, 15th April, so be prepared for a night that promises to be both entertaining and somewhat different to what we're used to. Ian is the 'voice' of BSN, a 13x award winning voiceover artist, responsible for the inflight announcements on Etihad Airline flights, a regular presenter for both BBC Radio Cumbria and BBC Radio Lancashire as well the man behind the 'No Brakes, No Fear' podcasts. Martin, co-owner of BSN, but more crucially is their head of production, an all round technical guru, especially when it comes down to his mastery of vMix software, which allows him to keep on top of BSN's live stream content. Ex Redcar Bears Promoter, Ben Duffill is the other director of BSN and is someone who is passionate about supporting Speedway and expanding its reach both within the UK and abroad. Greg Blair co-presents BSN's live stream content and is well known within Speedway circles as a former rider at Championship and National League level with Berwick, Scunthorpe and Mildenhall. We hope that you'll join us for what promises to be a fascinating evening. The event is at the Brandon Club on Tuesday 15th April and starts at 8pm. Venue: Brandon Club, Main Street, Brandon, CV8 3HW Entrance fee for members £2.00 Entrance fee for non-members £4.00

Always a very popular guest. The last winner of the NSSC Coventry Rider of the Year in 2016. 20th May. Scott Nicholls. Another regular and popular guest who may just have a few books left to sell. Everyone is welcome to attend the meetings with an entry fee of only £4. All proceeds are for the GB Young Lions. The NSSC has donated another £2,000 this year, making over £23,000 since 2012. The venue is just down the road on the Rugby side of Brandon Stadium. Brandon Club, Main Street, Brandon, Coventry, CV8 3HW.

oleoleole replied to oleoleole's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I’m sorry to say that due to unforeseen circumstances Scott has had to cancel his trip to the NSSC tonight. So the meeting is cancelled. Apologies to anyone who was hoping to come along. We will try again in the New Year.
