  1. The graphics were wrong. They showed Fricke in the lead during the race and then showed him as being second after, when he was third.
  2. Bewley as good as said in his interview that he should have laid the bike down and got Lindgren excluded and said that he had learned from the experience. Expect Dan to do a Nicki next time this happens! If you want to be World Champion you lay the bike down. Remember Hans Nielsen/Dennis Sigalos at White City? Sigalos lifted. Nielsen laid it down and Sigalos was excluded.
  3. I've seen pictures of Martin Ashby wearing one, which would be before 1974 as they were already old pictures when I starting going. Paul Gachet is another who comes to mind.
  4. Phil Morris should get down there and check the gate. If the gate is fine, it should be awarded 75-0 to Ipswich. It's the only way to stop this sort of thing, because it is a big part of what is killing the sport.
  5. He does. Because the original comment that he is a generational rider could well be right.
  6. I guess it's up for debate if that gets the honour of an asterix, but if it does then that's another Zmarzlik asterix win. He deserves better.
  7. But seriously... In all my time watching speedway I can think of only 2 "asterix" situations. 1990 and Shawn Moran being stripped of second place. 2022 and 23. Russians were banned from competing. Nothing else deserves an asterix. Asterixes are well special.
  8. I don't think it's the same. Firstly, Emil opting out was his own choice. Secondly, he wasn't the undefeated champion.
  9. Is he though? How can we be sure that Bartosz is the best around if he cannot prove it against the still undefeated 2021 World Champion? At the moment his wins are "asterix" wins. He is a Joe Frazier rather than a Muhammad Ali. He may well be a class above any other rider now, but he needs to prove it because last time he was pitted against Artem Laguta he lost. The Russians need to be there.
  10. They probably want Mondays as well.
  11. With the riders spread out through all the teams, they could probably still be fitted in on a 12 as long as the teams who couldn't afford them don't do something to stop it like they tried to do with Doyle a few years back.
  12. Pretty good if you're into that sort of thing. Intergalactic | TAI WOFFINDEN - YouTube
  13. What's going on with all these matches against Plymouth? A very odd looking fixture list.
  14. Same here. I didn't notice any booing, but even if there was, so what? Part of the fun, surely.
  15. Well, Oxford's top heavy side clearly isn't going to work. Even with Nicholls and Masters riding well they were outclassed. They could struggle away from home this year. I couldn't believe the crowd. We turned up about 6.15 and the queues were massive. Didn't bother me though. We had bought our ticket in advance so were able to go straight in and grab a seat at the front of the main stand. The racing picked up towards the end, and the atmosphere improved with it. By the end the place was buzzing. Proper speedway atmosphere and great entertainment as a result despite Oxford being a bit rubbish.
  16. I'm going to this one as I didn't go to Oxford because of the weather and it's a sunny bank holiday. My 4 year old's first speedway meeting. Hope she doesn't cause any trouble.
  17. To be fair, I don't think Tomlinson did much wrong. He always insisted that houses could not be built until the Stadium was completed, and it now seems to be being completed. The reason Swindon closed down was down to Osbourne and Russell. If Terry Russell decided to shut the club down, there's nothing that the local MP can do about that. I guess that what will now happen is the stadium will be completed, the houses will then get built, and then Osbourne will eventually sell of the newly completed stadium and it will get demolished. I'm sure the work that is going on there now is purely a legal requirement to allow the remaining houses to be built. If so, Tomlinson was true to his word.
  18. On paper they cancel each other out over the 14, then Oxford have the edge and take it in heat 15. It's all on paper of course. It's an interesting match up. I might be tempted to go and watch now that I'm not going this week.
  19. Going on the basis of averages, if you go through the programme and assume rider position based on average along, I make it a 47-43 Oxford win. Of course, matches don't turn out that way, but on team make-up along Oxford seem to have a slight edge.
  20. I agree. The £2 extra on the day, along with the weather forecast, means I've decided to give it a miss as I don't want to buy a ticket in advance only to have it cancelled. With speedway so weather dependent, it is a shame that they do add another £2 on the day. I'm very much a "make a decision at 6pm" kind of guy, so I would probably go to Oxford a lot more if I could just rock up on the day and wander in. The crowds seem pretty good though so they probably won't miss me.
