Ha ha. I guessed correctly. So, the fans would get rid of Troy Bachelor then. Hilarious.
-
Just has a look and found one worth signing. Kyle Howarth - 7.61. There you go. Sorted.
-
Who can we get on that average? Nobody averaged less than 5 last year. Not worth it is it?
-
I would say this if Swindon do sign Ward, then it would have to be Howarth they release as they would probably have to go with a new double-upper. I wonder if he's aware of this possibility. http://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/sport/13343850.Howarth_wants_Robins__number_one_issue_sorted/

Just looked at the Peterborough offer, and it seems and odd one I agree. I got slightly confused reading it. I was skeptical about the "advance" partof the Swindon offer though, and that worked a treat, so best to see how it works first. Leicester seem to have done a good one, with adverts offering £7.50 admission with the voucher, plus vouchers fro a free hotdog and a free pint. Be interesting to see how many they get in for that. It's clear that people tend to stay away from Sky matches on normal admission, but give them a good offer and they will come. They should use these Sky matches as a form of promoting the sport and get people in for them. And even if only a handful come back, they've made gains.

If Kurtz came in it would have to be Howarth that went. I hope the management are taking note that people are keen to keep our current 2 to 5.
-
Ha ha. Talking on here is what it means. They just got it off the forum. What the headline should say id 'Troy's engine failures get a couple of Coventry fans talking, and then one of them becomes obsessed with it'.

The poll asks: Would you like to see Darcy Ward sign for the Robins? I wonder what the result would be to a poll that asks: Do you think Greg Zengota or Kyle Howarth should be sacked? Of course people would like to see Darcy Ward ride for Swindon. I would. But I bet it would be a lot closer if they gave the whole picture.
-
Oh Lord. The very thought of it!! This must not be allowed to happen. Who would our options be to replace whoever we sacked?
-
Seems a weird thing to do. Surely they should have a system that helps prevent the use if guests. Doing it this way makes it a risk to sign a temporary replacement.
-
I agree with this. A lot of reports from Swindon newspapers and websites seem t indicate that Swindon are going for it though. Hope not.
-
Much better option for me, unless we can pull off mircle and sign someone like Emil! No problem with Darcy if he fits, but not at the expense of Zengota.
-
I don't get this theory that Miedzinski needs to be re-declared for changes to be made. Surely Kildermand was a replacement for Miedzinski, but because it was a 28 day replacement or whatever rather than a permanent one then Miedzinski's average would be retained. Otherwise, if you bring in a short term replacement for an injured rider, then the injured rider can't come back in the side after 28 days if it puts the team over the points limit.
-
Home performances do matter in getting casual fans to come back to watch again. Who would you bring in if we did replace him?
-
I wouldn't bring him in if it meant losing either of those two. Both deserve their place and Darcy Ward has no loyalty to Swindon and has already said he'll be at Poole in 2016. Pawlicki was mentioned earlier. I'd rather go down that route and keep the rest of the top 5. Zengota would be the most likely to go. Why get rid of the rider who was our top scorer last week?
-
I'd gladly have him in the side but not if we had to drop someone to fit him in. He won't be back next year wherever he goes and will probably ride to average below 7. But if he fits straight in, sure. Worth a go.
-
The way averages have a hold on the port you would expect managers to do this. However, I'm not convinced that all of them do. Although, with the current situation at Swindon and the look for a number one I guess they are more likely to be doing so at the moment than at other times.

Do Averages Tell Us The Full Story?

TR doesn't need simplifying. It needs getting rid. -
To be honest, when Tim Sugar was manager of Reading he was the expert at getting the most out of the rules and I always admired him for it. The only time I've really had a problem with it is when the paying public are cheated by a team just chucking the match away from the start. That's taking things a bit too far. But if rules are there to be taken advantage of then go for it, I say. I'd do it.

Kind of strange that Coventry fans seem to be making most noise on this, when their team is probably more guilty than any about average manipulation over time. Anyway, averages are there to be used to your advantage so if Swindon did do any - which I doubt - then good for them. It's frustrated me in the past when such opportunities have presented themselves and we haven't taken advantage of them. My own feeling is, though, that I don't think rosco is the type of manager to look into the finer points of the averages and work out such small margins as are being spoke about here. In fact, if it wasn't for SCB's original posts I doubt anyone would have even noticed this. Certainly not the local paper that is now reporting it. So if you - the sports self proclaimed stats expert - can't quite work it out, how come Rosco and Troy Bachelor can?

They are still paid the same. Do riders really care about their averages unless specifically told about them for a specific reason. EG - get your average up, you need a work permit. Or, get your average down, we need to strengthen the side. Either way, again, it works both ways. Plusses and minuses on either side. -

Except it's generally better to have a lower average rather than a higher one. It's a double edged sword really. Take out the bonus points and you lose out the points like that where you follow a partner home. Then again, you also include the extra points for someone tootling round in third half a lap behind where someone else had an engine failure. -

True. But people who know about it in that much detail aren't going to have a problem working out bonus points anyway. On a simple basis 3-2-1-0 works just fine. Can't see a reason to introduce anything that would complicate that. They've already done enough of that with the TR. -

I always support British riders in international meetings. I barely notice Troy Bachelor when watching the GPs. I think fans are a lot better at supporting British riders nowadays than they used to be. You used to get quite a lot supporters cheering for the USA against Britain in Test Matches. -

Why do you need to work out bonus points these days? they aren't in the averages. I still like to put my little dot in my programme when filling out scores, but its just out of my own interest. You don't need it.
