  1. Any news on who else apart from Jason Doyle is in the Swindon team yet?
  2. He was. I messaged Lee Ashby to ask if it was and he confirmed it.
  3. That's amazing. Thanks Arnie. Will have to look up Sandleford farm. I know there is a dual carriageway called The Sandleford link, so maybe a clue there. These houses are actually called "Sandleford Farm" so could be the spot. Sandleford Farm - GHE Homes Looks like Maurie Leonard is Brian Leonard's father. About: Brian Leonard (speedway rider) (dbpedia.org)
  4. It's not Swindon. It's a Swindon Select. I did wonder why they didn't just call them Swindon, but you've probably explained it.
  5. I remember hearing about a Grass Speedway meeting in Newbury. I think it was probably near where the Fox and Hounds motocross track was. It would be interesting to see that.
  6. The Newbury "Nomads", who ride at Newbury Showground, just off Junction 13 of the M4 and within 45 minutes of Swindon and Reading. A lovely new track which will be made into a modern stadium in the near future. All the equipment needed is currently in storage and will be delivered soon. Owner: Clarke Osbourne. Promoter: Terry Russell. Guaranteed success story.
  7. If he's exemplary with fans then that's good enough for me.
  8. Me too. When my son was little he loved Troy Batchelor, and always got a good response when shouting "TROY!!!" at him.
  9. It was more to do with whether or not I decided to go rather than re-admission. I normally make a decision on the day, so was more bothered about wanting to go but finding it was sold out. If capacity is now 3500 then that shouldn't be an issue. I hope the Swindon team is a proper representative team rather than Jason Doyle and a bunch of random others. There's still plenty riding here to use, but team strengths may be an issue.
  10. Might be a good evening's entertaiment if Swindon put a proper Swindon side together. It would be good to see the 2019 side again, but Oxford would have no chance riding against them so maybe they will strengthen up with guests? Or will it just be a Swindon "select". Swindon team could, perhaps be: Doyle, Ellis, Musielak, Batchelor, Bellego, Nielsen, Rowe? Or could they even get Jensen over? The only problem is, with Oxford's limited capacity I'll have to decide in advance rather than wait and see what the weather is like!
  11. Although half the crowd would leave after heat 13 (some even during it). As heat 13 approached there would always be a crowd gathering around stadium exits ready to run out and avoid traffic. I never really understood that myself. The best time to avoid queues was after 2 or 3 second half races.
  12. Rule 011.1.11 "When a heat is stopped, the Referee shall disqualify the rider, who in their opinion is the primary cause of the stoppage." So surely this means someone has to be excluded. In the case of a genuine 50/50 that must mean the rider who came off as he is the cause of the stoppage.
  13. No it doesn't. It says: "POINTS LIMIT: 39.00 for six riders, teams to also include one Rising Star."
  14. Newbury Showground would be good for Reading and Swindon (and, indeed, Oxfrod) fans. Expecially those who live in Newbury. Like, er... me. It's within 45 minutes of all of them.
  15. Just seen that they are going back to the aggregate bonus point. Speedway gives in to the grumpy old online whingers and does what it thinks that fans want. The 3-2-1-0-1-2-3-4 scoring did the job perfectly and was relevant in every match rather than just a second leg. Still, they'd already buggered that up, so I guess it doesn't really matter any more.
  16. If I recall correctly, Ipswich had 2 rising stars in their team a couple of years ago but one of them - Anders Rowe - had to ride as a proper team member.
  17. A great signing for the end of season dinner and dance.
  18. I see Alun Rossiter and Lee Kilby are no longer listed on there as "advisors". I wonder if they asked to have their names removed?
  19. It's actually pretty easy to find. Turn off the M4 and head down the M32 to Eastville. Look for IKEA on the right. It's just underneath there.
  20. Teams didn't get an extra point for winning by more than 6. They lost a point for winning by less than 6. That's what was taken away. It was 3 for winning by more than 6. Now it's 3 for winning by any margin. It was a good system. They should have kept it.
  21. Looking at the difference between the two teams tonight, I very much doubt that.
  22. I have a question. Aside from the craziness of having this on a neutral track, what is the point of having a place called "The National Speedway Stadium" that provides brilliant racing and then - the first time it might actually be needed to be called into emergency use - having this meeting at King's Lynn?
