What about sponsoring a sport and getting nothing back for it.
-
Null and void but you, Mr Google, can't resist keeping me on here.
-
As usual, rant before brain motion. The Tv is on, as there is someone else in the house who is interested in speedway and other sports. My opinions are null and void though.
-
So says a man defending a relic of a sport. Says it all. Yours, freeloader (1990-2006)
-
I have never mentioned the standard of racing, you plonker. I mentioned the silliness of rules. That's how much you know of me. The racing is still probably fine. Listen to what people write instead of loving your own voice.

I was a paying customer. I paid using three hours of my own time, own reference material which I bought through the years, my own computer. I got a complimenary ticket. If you believe speedway people, rakers, pushers, ticket sellers, pitstaff, all pay to get into speedway, then you are dafter than I thought. The sport would not run without people like us. Belle Vue made money from the programme I used to contribute to.

I can't understand it either. But I've read people criticise honest newspaper critiques on current day speedway. The journo probably got in for free too.
-
I haven't the energy to keep defending myself. Even when I do, certain people ignore it and still spout untruths. I see a lot of Donald Trump in you, BWitcher, perhaps Boris Johnson.
-
And all the thousands of others had free passes taken away, eh, BWitcher.
-
Next question....
-
I'm gay actually.

I am odd then. But, according to you, so is speedway's fanbase as a whole. I spend much of my spare time keeping speedway's history going in the form of various yearbooks and the sport's records. Is that strange too? Because I don't go down to the track to watch something I don't believe in, it doesn't mean my passion for the sport's history isn't awake. As I have studied the sport's history, I can say it is in its most perilous state in its 90 years being.

I have the radio on in the kitchen but I'm not always listening to it.
-
OK. I'll let you get back to your drink.
-
But have you spent 40 years watching love island and seen it deteriorate? Until you have, don't say today's show are worse than decades ago.
-
I can't be classed an "odd character" then, I am not the fanbase.
-
What does it matter if I don't go to speedway anymore, but still have an opinion? Perhaps the answer is my opinion clashes with yours. Just stick with people who agree with you, and the spot will continue to flourish.
-
Thank you for explaining. You won't notice any likes for my posts. Most fans who agree with me are no longer fans and wouldn't bother with speedway forums. I cling on, for old times' sake.
-
So, whose fault was it then, if you have the facts? I also feel your post highlights speedway's problem. Too many "promoters" and not enough owners. Views differing to mine on BSF will get the "likes" from the small band still bothering to post on here. The invisible "likes" that support my views are evident by the evident spaces on the terraces. The sport is where it is because promoters have been so short-sighted through the years. The SKY money burned a hole in the pockets and had to be spent it before the next payday on keeping the top riders here. Promoters felt there was more where that came from. The future for most promoters is getting the next meeting on.

Sorry, did Coventry close through lack of support or was it the promoters or owners' fault? Speedway tracks are clinging on to their last breath. The land they rest on is needed elsewhere. You will also fathom out that I post mainly on things I can comment on. I never post on the league sections, as I know little about the current set-up, what rules have changed this week or what rider has switched sides during the match. I try and keep in touch with speedway's current problems. I too have contributed hours upon hours, money, and 45 years watching the sport at different times. If you want my sort to disappear because they don't have anything positive to say. Then that's an attitude that had left tracks struggling. You are like a lot of cry babies. "Don't call my sport", you lot will whine. And then another track closes and you wonder why you have nowhere to go on a Saturday night. I won't shut the sport down with my negative views. The people you should worry about are the actual people you pay the wages of. It seems more about keeping those in employment why the sport is being run how it is.

Yardiedah. Still deserted speedway before I did, no matter your reason. It was a choice. As for my being a "racist and xenophobe," don't know how you've arrived at that. But, whatever... We have something in common - we don't support British speedway anymore. Let's shake hands and be friends.
-
That was constructive. You should know how speedway promoters treat clubs, look at your defunct Coventry.
-
I forgot I had a dig about you watching free speedway via the internet. Must have caught a nerve. You chose to move to another country and left Britain and its speedway back here. You're a fine one to talk about loyalty. Of course, you think speedway is ok, you watch it for free on the internet. Least I used to contribute to a programme for my freebie.

So, apart from the personal insults, what future does speedway have?
