  1. Really enjoyed the Mastremind. Finished in the top 20, but next time will be taking it seriously.
  2. What was he thinking... throwing away his racejackets and trophies? If there was ever a time I wish I was a binman...
  3. Just had it from a good source that Bryan is still alive and well.
  4. I've heard a lot of people say Oakes' book contains mistakes, but I haven't come across that many. Could you give any pointers? I know the rides given for the 1965 season averages are incorrect, each rider x4 his matches ridden. A book of that magnitude must contain some.
  5. The 1991-2006 book contains averages for: Div 1 - League, Play-offs, KOC, Craven Shield. Div 2 - League, Play-offs, KOC, Young Shield, Premier Trophy. Div 3 - League, Play-offs, KOC, Conference Trophy, Conference Shield. All match results are included for these comps as well as tables. Included are the major stories throughout the years, all major meeting results and scorers - Play-off finals, KOC Finals, 4TT Finals, Pairs Finals, League Riders' results, - ever-presents, Indoor meetings, touring teams. I have attempted to follow all what Peter Oakes included in his.
  6. I am just about finished on my 1991-2006 book. It contains all team averages, tables, cup records, Internationals etc that happened in that period. In fact, it has almost everything that Peter Oakes' 1965-90 book contains and is sort of an update. All speedway fans should get a copy. I am really pleased with it.
  7. No disrespect to Terry, he probably is a great fella, but his presenting style dated back to the 1970s social club era - the Wheeltappers and Shunters club was it? We've formed a commiteeeeeeee.
  8. Doing his centregreen thingy at Belle Vue one night, he asked Paul Sharples how his grandad (Ken Sharples) was, the Belle Vue youngster replying with "He's dead." Ken was killed in a car accident in the sixties. The place went deadly silent as a tumbleweed blew passed.
  9. Jim The print arrived this morning - thank you very much. I was elated when I opened it. I had only ever witnessed your paintings on a smaller scale - like in the magazines or on ebay. They look the business even so, but you don't actually appreciate one until a genuine print it is there in front of you. I did not expect it to be that large - I expected it to be A4. My brother, a fellow speedway fan, was equally impressed. I can't tell you how chuffed I am... it's just a shame my weird sense of humour upset you. One thing you can be certain of, the print is going to be placed into a good frame and hung up in my home. I know what people can get me for birthdays and Christmas now, or when I feel like treating myself… that, you can be sure of. Thanks again, Jim
  10. Despite his FIM medals I did not think much of Erik Gundersen. He was a good rider but give me Hans anytime. To me it's between Mauger and Nielsen who were the best ever.
  11. Jim, will Steve get an extra print for getting Ivan's email address right?
  12. Here’s Hans Neilsen’s tally 9 wtc 4 ind 6 pairs
  13. But he only asked the question an hour ago
  14. Mr. Hone, just giude yourself to this page: http://www.fim.ch/en/wChampions.asp
  15. One of which wasn't recognised by the FIM.
  16. Thanks for that, Jim. You may be interested in these sites. http://world.speedway.org/0000/wc/t/ http://www.fim.ch/en/wChampions.asp?item=23
  17. I'm just about to purchase a nice frame for my new print.
  18. Jim Originally thought it was just World Speedway titles, therefore does my second answer count?
  19. ERIK = 17 (7 WTC, 5 PAIRS, 2 LTRACK, 3 IND) IVAN = 14 (3 LT, 6 IND, 1 PAIR, 4 WTC) RONNIE = 3 (2 IND, 1 PAIR) OVE 11 (5 IND, 6 WTC)

What do you think I am, a know it all? Seriously though, I think Berger sponsored the GP in 1980. Ron, only having a bit of competition with Andy. I pride myself on 1976 being my era.

Jeff, don't want to start on the wrong foot, but it was the Daily Mirror Grand Prix. Andy, my address to send the tenner to is...

Andy - PC won the meeting in which he broke the track record. I think you're getting mixed up with the WCQR Wilkie won in 1975, the year every track staged a qualifier. Go check your programmes. I would bet you a crispy tenner that I'm right. I'll forward my address.

Andy, as a fellow anorak I must tell you that PC broke the record in a Grand Prix QR. I hate to correct people, but on this occasion I simply must.
