  2. forgot to put wee wayne brown on my list another sadly no longer with us
  3. i remember seeing him at blantyre one kent boy must have been 1979 and a scottish juniour league v anglia juniour league meeting and he was superb to watch with a spectacular leg trailing style his battles with kenny mckinna were worth the admission money alone i even gave him a mention in my dream team on the speedway plus site
  4. he certainly was fourentee i used to love the all action leg trailers when i was a boy and im pretty sure i can remember my dad talking to him in the pits at blantyre one as youre a comets fan what about big leggy he was always fun to watch i would also add glen parrott to the list for any gunners fans out there

  6. being a glasgow fan from 1977 i never saw nuch bl action but shooey moran has always been a favourite of mine and cowboy cook although you did mention him and what about les and neil collins cant have pc and phil without a mention for those two think i will stick in bobby beaton and wee swervin mervyn janke aswell although i never saw him race for the dukes over to the halifax fans
  7. had a wee bet on greg tonight plenty looking god out there think we are in for a decent meeting
  8. RIP kenny and my condolences to your family and friends this season just cant get any worse i certainly cant remember a season like it
  9. thought i was going to be rich myself tonight as i had a few quid on the wee man at 14/1
  10. another superb ride from harris great to see even though i had a few quid on hampel tonight looks like that would have been better spent on a few beers
  11. TRACK (can be defunct): the old blantyre greyhound stadium WEATHER: warm summers evening CAPTAIN: super stevie lawson (who else) OTHER RIDERS WHO HAD TO BE IN THE TEAM (assume they are at their peak): merv janke, kenny mckinna, shane bowes, ray palmer, jason lyons, robert nagy PROMOTER: neil mcfarlane/jimmy beaton (i know they werent everyones cup of tea but thats why i liked them) TEAM MANAGER: ian steel (the man i first started buying old programmes from) ANNOUNCER: dick barrie (not his greatest fan but he did get the crowd going and it would be interesting seeing him, mcfarlane, beaton and kenny mac in the same stadium) RACE NIGHT: friday, 7.30 MARCH OUT MUSIC: the black bear Beat that! i just did... the only thing i would change is maybe the weather for some reason i used to love cold, dark and wet october nights especially at craighead park no cover and all snug with the hood up on my parker and walking down to the track hoping the striped flag was up on the pole which normally meant the meeting was on...happy days!
  12. The guys a pillock i dont think he even realises the mistakes he is making there is no attempt to appologise or correct his countless cock-ups
  13. He looked fighting fit the rest must have done him good although it didnt do much for Pooles play off chances Good to see guys like Lindback,Hampel and Zagar in finals can only be good for the future
  14. The way he rides it may be sooner rather than later By the way Tony Millard is having a bigger shocker than usual tonight In the heat Richardson fell he had him first then last last to first then asked Johnno how Hampel would be feeling after his the crash
  15. Am i hearing things or did Pedersen just say to Sullivan next tme "i will go right through you"
  16. Reading some of the comments i thought i would take this opportunity to say how much i am enjoying your mag tmc and great to see you havent forgotten your friends north of the border particulary the stevie lawson article what about an article on another man who kept glasgow speedway alive for years the one and only jimmy beaton im sure he would have a tale or two to tell I think with club websites and forums now the speedway star is becoming a bit irrelevant although after 30 years i do still buy it through habit it is refreshing to have an alternative magazine to read especially one that covers the years when i was growing up i hope it goes from strength to strength maybe even appearing monthly
