No Tv Or Streaming ?
From PC to KC. replied to brandonbee48's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I managed to see some of the practice for this meeting and Miedzinski did look quick, however i never saw Harris, Lindgren, Hampel or Holder as they had finished and packed up by that stage. So hard to judge really, i thought the Russian looked handy as well. -
Went down the pub to watch it after the Arsenal game, as the landlord had recorded it, to find he was fast forwarding it at breakneck speed to try to catch up. So we saw from heat 5 til 16 at warp speed without hardly a chance to see who had scored what . Then it cut to Tennis as advertised, the red button option wasn't available, gutted. So came home to see both semi-finals and final on the Polish website on the pc. Should of stayed at home and seen it on that instead.

Swc- The Final
From PC to KC. replied to Niclas's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I haven't got sky so can only go on what you see, but i went to Wroclaw when Havelock won the world title and the heavens opened and completely flooded the track. They got the fire engines out and pumped the water off and ran the meeting, so still some hope yet. -
Hans went over the fence in Swedish match tonight, after tangling with Emil Satfudinov and Andreas Jonsson. Looked nasty but after treatment got up and walked back to the pits. Very lucky reminded me off Swiderski crash at Ipswich.

Alcohol At Cardiff
From PC to KC. replied to loyal royal's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Our group were in the top tier 3rd bend, and we had to move in the end to avoid the family from hell. They were English, the father was almost comotose from the off, his wife was steaming spilling drink everywhere when trying to dance waving a flag. We had to move all our stuff to stay dry, and were constantly getting splashed. Also i assume it was the guys mother was just as bad, up, down, up, down carrying cardboard trays of 5 pints. They then proceeded to throw their rubbish down the terraces hitting an old lady on the head, they were laughing all the time, as were their kids. Eventually a female steward was summoned to try to calm them down, but by that stage they were just about asleep. Moving seemed the only option to keep my daughter and friends safe. Still enjoyed the meeting tho, but we had to move away from some old friends from Cradley which was a shame. I agree that alcoholic drink should only be allowed in the bar areas, and leave the rest of us to enjoy the event in peace. Ps, we were in the family ticket zone aswell. -
Another Ridiculous Exclusion
From PC to KC. replied to Brummie Boy's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Obviously he was not WIDE enough then or Pedersen would not have cleaned up his front wheel as he tried an unsuccessful CLEAN pass. Emil stays on a straight course until Pedersens wheel takes him down. -
Another Ridiculous Exclusion
From PC to KC. replied to Brummie Boy's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Can't believe anyone can defend Niki here. He clearly steams under Emil but does not then turn, but tries to run Emil out to the fence, effectively he trys a block pass as in Moto GP. There was plenty of room for him to turn but he wanted to ruin Emils line and finish the race there and then. Yes Emil looks across as all riders do, but he does not turn left into Pedersen, Pedersen swings his back wheel into Emils front as he miscalculates his manouvere. Clear as day he takes Emils wheel, correct decision no ifs no buts. -

I would say greater talent mainly. Sure they have a more ruthless attitude to winning and dedication to the cause than most. 3 to 4 bikes tuned to perfection for each GP, not sure how much difference there is between the top guys in the gp and the Nicholls and Holta,s etc in terms of equipment, ie extra gadgets. It would be interesting to see some split times for top speed, say in a straight line drag test between the GP boys. I would guess not much difference between them, it comes down best use of what you have on the track.

With respect, it would be interesting to know when Padraig hired all these assistants, i would hazzard a guess it was after he had made his 3rd Million. Just no comparison the amount of money swilling around in Golf to speedway. You are made after winning one major, with endorsements etc etc, but how many GP,s or world titles even would you need to retire in speedway. I can't see it being John Jorgensen,s input that has made Niki the dominant rider he is today.

Your Most Memorable International Test Match
From PC to KC. replied to bazaar3's topic in Years Gone By
The best test match i ever went to was, at Sheffield in 1983 i think. England vs USA. England got 2 last heat 5-1 wins to win the match. The place was packed, there was a great atmosphere and the racing throughout was superb entertainment. -
I would be grateful if anybody who has been to Parken could let me know which is the better vantage point, the back straight or the 3rd and 4th bends? Many thanks.

Idea For Sgp / World Final
From PC to KC. replied to dabbsjoe's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Under this system we have had a situation twice already, where a rider has won the GP round on the night, but taken away less championship counting points than a rider who finished further down the pecking order. Therefore like Loram who won a World title without actually winning a GP, we could see someone go through an entire season without being on the rostrum being crowned champion. Thus proving himself the most consistent but ultimately unremarkable. This is due to the 2 semi final syndrome, where you can score 15 in the heats and get beat by someone who only scored 7 or 8pts from their heats. Prehaps we should have only the top 4 scorers on the night qualify for the final, barring any tied scores. Then in the final just 4pts for 1st place, 3 for 2nd ,2pts for third, and 1pt for last. All other competitors scored are totally discarded and we move on to the next GP. Then only the top 4 at the end of the season gain automatic qualification for next season, and the rest battle out a series of events to get back in, with other riders who have been trying to break into the GP. -
Idea For Sgp / World Final
From PC to KC. replied to dabbsjoe's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Depends on your definition of "One off" Lets take that minority sport Football, in the one off game to determine the world champions Italy vs France 09/07/2006, how many legs were used to decide the winners, ONE MATCH. Also in the minority sport of Football again, how many games did Manchester United take to beat Chelsea to become European Champions, ONE MATCH. Under the old system you had to win your place in the final through a series of tough qualifiers, of course bad luck could influence the result, but it still does today, no matter how you dress it up. However the one off was a true challenge of putting it altogether on the night, better than the rest. Much less room for error, yes you could win on 12 or 13 pts, whereas you can win a gp now on anything as little as 7 from your heats. We need to cut right down to 4 rounds in my opinion to get back some tension, cut throat racing where you can't afford a slip up, maintain some semblance of a chance for the majority of competitors after 2 rounds etc. These 4 rounds would be in the 4 major nations Poland ,UK, Denmark and Sweden, thus leaving riders free to concentrate on league speedway for most of the season. These gp,s could be like the Grand slam events in Golf and Tennis etc, more meaningful than 2 bit. -

Danish Gp

cheers -
A group of 4, 2 adults and 2 kids are going to the Danish GP this year, as this is the most child friendly GP to attend, ie Legoland, Tivolo gardens etc. Probably flying from Birmingham to Bilund on the Thursday before, staying in Bilund and doing Legoland Friday, then travelling on to Copenhagen Friday night. Anyone have any ideas as to best method of transport to Copenhagen from Bilund, ie cost wise. We have been reccomended 2 youth Hostels, has anyone any info on whether they are worth using. Cheers

Wild Cards For 09

Ah but Harris would have been happy with 5 pts, and total mediocrity, and therefore wouldn't have qualified. -
Scott Nicholls
From PC to KC. replied to schumi's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Who gets the loudest reception from the fans, i think you,ll find it is the brits, whoever they are that year, ie Nicholls, Harris, Norris, Stonehewer, Stead, Tai etc etc, oh and maybe even Richardson Why was it so quiet when Bomber won then, after all under your theory it must have been packed out with 35,000 bees fans. -
Can Nicki Get 6?

Think Ivan Mauger was a master at that, just ask John Davis.
