Brandon Estates issued with Anti criminal behaviour order, by Rugby council. They have until 22nd Sept to clear the site of any rubbish left behind by recent friends of no fixed address. They also have to increase the levels of security on site to prevent further access, and make safe buildings and perimeter of site known as Coventry stadium. They are also required to make a security visit every 2 weeks .Failure to do so will result In fine of £100 rising to maximum of £2250. They must be quaking in their boots, NOT

Probably a joke regarding taking precautions, and living with the consequences of your actions.

Just delay it long enough for Horton to go bust at Leicester, then put the stuff back in for Stox at his own leisure. Probably been the plan all along. Then wait for planning consent to be granted.
-
The BSPA could not afford the market value of the land for housing. Has anybody actually seen any representatives of Brandon estates in the flesh, or have all negotiations been by email or phone? Why do Brandon estates need to be anonymous? what do they have to lose or hide by remaining in the shadows, Maybe Sandhu just wanted to sell Horton down the river. If you were interested in promoting speedway long term, and an opportunity arose at Leicester or Belle Vue, just before you were due to sign up for the Coventry lease, surely you would back out.
-
At the end of the festive season, if anybody in Brandon village is struggling to take down their lights?, please apply to Coventry Speedway who are willing to help and even come back next year, to put them back up for you, maybe.

On what track and called what. Will the club be called , Leicester Bees or Belle Vue Buzz.

Stadium looks pretty much like Hyde Road when Stuart Bamforth had finished with it.

I have been a lifelong fan of the sport, but i just can't muster the enthusiasm anymore to attend. I went to countless World finals home and abroad and loved it, i still watch the gp on tv, but it hasn't got that edge of the seat raw nervous energy of the old finals. Yes i understand it finds the most consistent champion, deserving etc, but the romance has gone. You watch a gp and oh well there is another one in 2 weeks if its pants. It has also ruined the british speedway scene, it has come full circle from the 70,s when journeymen poles and czechs qualified for world finals not because they were good enough, but because they were segregated from the rest of the western riders. Now the brits are the journeymen not good enough to qualify, our league is on its death bed where the best riders of the day can't be bothered to turn up regularly. The standard is dire with juniors who are patently not good enough making up the numbers in the top tier, just so we can muster 8 teams in a league, even the riders masquerading as number ones are bang average. In the old days the best riders would willingly ride here wherever it suited them, forming club loyalty, and continuity, now it seems the best choose where to ride based on the most suitable race night. If more teams rode on a wednesday maybe more riders would be inclined not to race for Poole but for other clubs, who could have a fairer chance, How do we turn this around, maybe something akin to the NFL, we need to even up the competition so more teams can compete fairly with a reasonable chance of success, split the league into regional conferences with home and away fixtures against local teams, and then fixtures against varied other teams in different seasons to complete your matches. Then we operate an end of season playoffs system, for teams that qualify, maybe coming down to a one off superbowl type final for 2 or maybe 4 teams at a neutral track, On finals day it would be one rider per team per race as in the SWC format as how much true team riding do we get nowadays anyway. If the top riders were still interested they would be limited to one per team and race against those of a similar standard only, on finals day. You would have to have probably 3 reserve only races, to keep them involved as well. During the regular season race format could be as now, just more even hopefully.

If Coventry council are involved, lets hope we don't have a rail link built into the plans after the Ricoh fiasco. If Sandhu finances the new stadium/track in field, how long before he sells that for houses ? How many of the Stox fans went to Brandon because it was a half decent stadium ? Will they travel in the same numbers to a Somerset type setup ? Maybe if we called ourselves the " Coventry Student Accommodation Bees" we may stand a chance of getting it built.
-
Surely it has nothing to do with Speedway/Stox cars not being suitable at Brandon anymore, and everything to do with Sandhu wanting his housing dream to come to fruition.
-
I can only see Coventry getting something akin to the Bordesley Green setup that used to run speedway in Birmingham, if that, as very little help seems to be forthcoming from either Coventry or Rugby Council. We have had 3 years now from the original announcement and are still no further on. This has all the makings of a Cradley at Stoke scenario, we move to Leicester for 1 year then goodnight Vienna.

Just goes to show what can be achieved when you have people involved in the sport for the right reasons.

The Thompson twins.

I would like to see Sky sports take the moral high ground here, and boycott the Poole match , and show a more complete coverage of the Swindon match. Leave FRAUD to play with his own ball, as nobody cares anymore with his spoilt child antics.
