  1. Does this mean that Workington won't have Richard Lawson at Plymouth either? That's a blow! I'm pretty sure that they aren't allowed to pull out of the re-staging to ride for their club if they signed in for the meeting tonight- if they could then I think those with a clash would prefer to race for their own clubs that night!
  2. Gutted that there will be no James Wright - he has been called up by Belle Vue for the Elite League Pairs at Ipswich. Derek Sneddon is his replacement I hear.
  3. Down the years, going right back to 1995, I've never understood why Sky don't show this meeting as part of their GP coverage. Having seen videos and DVD's of the GP Challenges down the years there have been some very good ones with plenty of incident that would have made great viewing. I suppose if they didn't take the chance to cover last year's event from Coventry then they'll never do it. Shame though!
  4. A simply awesome evening from every aspect! Well done to Rob and the boys - what a great effort, great racing, great entertainment. National pride fully restored I'd say. I just about lost my voice from shouting at the TV - Fantastic!
  5. I hear that this Saturday afternoon sees the third round of the 2010 British Under-15 Championship taking place at Northside in Workington, starting at 3 o'clock. The last three years it has been there have been really good. Does anybody have any more info about line-ups or how many races there will be? I assume that there will be 500cc and 250cc again but I have been told that there will also be a new 125cc class as well. Looking forward to it again this year, then over to Derwent Park to see the Comets take on Somerset at 7 o'clock.
  6. Not much has been said about Workington's 40th Anniversary Meeting but I am looking forward to it, hopefully we will see plenty of ex-Comets coming along on the night.
  7. Yes, it was on Channel 5 in the year 2000 if my memory serves me correctly.
  8. Yes, Peter Collins was on the show as has been mentioned earlier, but I seem to remember Jan Staechmann also being on the show with his Telford ice bike as well some time after PC's appearance.
  9. Looking forward to this as it has been quite entertaining in each of the past two years.
  10. From getnoticedonline.co.uk website: The line-up, with one more rider to add, is: Derek Sneddon (Newcastle), Chris Kerr (Newport), Ty Proctor (Redcar), Jason Lyons (Birmingham), Tomasz Piszcz (Birmingham), Rusty Harrison (Birmingham), Ricky Ashworth (Sheffield), David Howe (Scunthorpe), Joe Screen (Poole), James Wright (Belle Vue), Simon Stead (Swindon), Kevin Doolan, Andre Compton, John Branney and Craig Cook (all Workington).
  11. Cumberland Classic according to Speedway Star fixture page. I heard over the weekend that Simon Stead, James Wright and Tomasz Piszcz are among those invited and it is the 16 rider and 20 heat format. Should be good. Will Steady break Kevin Doolan's new track record? Ulrich is injured and King's Lynn are riding at Berwick so that rules out Topinka and Ward.
  12. It never used to be until last year BUT there has been a fair bit of passing in the last two or three weeks so hopefully things are going in the right direction. Tonight should be a cracker - with 40 riders (including reserves) and 28 races, not to mention an absolutely perfect day weatherwise let's hope the racing is good. As long as the racing is good I don't really care who wins, and if it is Worky then great, but if not then at least the shouts of 'home advantage' will be silenced for another year!! I can't even predict who'll get through the groups never mind win it. This year's line up looks very even right through.
  13. I seem to recall Steady rode in Denmark at PARKEN in 2004 or 2005 too.
  14. Or will they nominate James Wright to be reserve alongside Tai in order to give him the experience? Surely that would be of greater benefit to British Speedway. Stead has already ridden in some GP's previously so would he really want to be reserve this time?
  15. I heard it was something to do with the use of an air fence at Owlerton.
