The Cardiff Grand Prix Discussion Thread
Starman2006 replied to PhilK's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Blimey your keen!!. There are loads, but you will need to get in now, otherwise if you leave it you will pay through the nose!. Im sure a few people on here could help you, but on the other hand they may want first serving of the pie!!. Try looking on a street map of Cardiff, then look in the Directory and go from there!!. -
If Lewis Bridger is there i'll do a Lanzilla round the poole track!. And i won't be doing that!!.
-
Your lucky Lea, i had to sit down and enjure two bloody hours of it!. Yawn, ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Swc Final
Starman2006 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I will not have it with those who are blaming and pulling Neil to pieces. Yes i may be seen as a poole fan defending our Manager, but imo its down to the riders to select the right set up for the track. Don't also forget we had some very inxperienced riders out there last night at THAT level. I also believe that NO other manager would do any better!. I do not expect Neil to resign or be sacked, but if Neil wants to walk away then thats his perogative!. I feel so sorry for Neil, he so wants a World Cup winners medal. But we are still imo in the crossover period, and we need to just have a bit of patience and a bit persiverence. We have some talented youngsters, and they are going to need time. You can only work with what you have at your disposal!. Chin up Neil. -
Stand Tall Team Gb
Starman2006 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Yep, would have to agree with Steve here. All 5 boys rode Brilliantly!. We go to the final in Great spirits, we now have nothing to lose, and everything to gain. Lets put our best foot forward, everybody give it 200%, lets really give it a go, we have 5 riders who are more than capable of pulling up the trees, theres nobody any of our riders can not beat, even in Poland, everybody muck in and really get behind each other, and see where it takes us!!. Go for it boys!!!!!. -
I do back every one of them Shazzybabe-er bird. I have the utmost confidence in all the boys, especially on home ground, i said nobody is expecting us to win the World Cup, but i do expect us to qualify to the final from tomorrows round at Coventry!. And win lose or Draw, i would expect Neil to retain the job!.

World Cup - Vojens Sat 14 July
Starman2006 replied to Mad Mitch's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Don't take a whole lot of pleasing then do they!. The British GP was a fantastic advert for Speedway, this was bordering on very boring, on a track set up for the Danes!. -
World Cup - Vojens Sat 14 July
Starman2006 replied to Mad Mitch's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
As others have pointed out, no airfence. absolutely diabolical. Can't believe that, Ole Olsen in charge, but they cannot import an airfence, that is not good!! -
Nobody's saying we will win the world cup, but i think it will be looked apon as a disapointment if we don't qualify for the final from Mondays meeting. With so much home track advantage, and Lee Richardson in the form of his life!. As ive said before a long time ago, we are now in the middle of the crossover period, the young riders for the old guard. Some of the old guard are still good enough, and some of the young riders still a step away just yet!. I have full faith in Neils team management abillitys, and even if we don't win the world cup, i certainly don't expect Neil to pen any resignation!!. Give the man a break VV

World Cup At Coventry
Starman2006 replied to Gemini's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Thats always been Coventrys patter, but i totally disagree with that!. Look how successful the world cup at Poole was three years ago!. You will never find a better location with better racing!!. -
Pub That Shows Sgp In London
Starman2006 replied to frahm-2's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Do you know, we have the self same problem in Poole. Antonio's sponsors and manager in this country at the Inn on the chase used to screen it all. But sky in their wisdom decided to price the small pub out of the market, by asking £600, yes, £600 per month for sky!. We used to get quite a gathering up ther for the GP's and World Cups, and the food was fantastic. But Skys money grabbing policy put an end to all that , which is a great shame. We now have knowhere in the Poole area that screen the GP's or the World Cup!!. -
I personally feel that we have a good chance. If we can get the result on Monday that takes us straight to the final. But, if i did have reservations it would probably be our strength in depth when we get to the final!!. But, im sure that Neil would be picking the team on a Horses for courses basis. I feel Poland again have an outstanding chance, but just feel, that this year its slightly more open than on previous years!!.

Im sure Bjarne didn't do it purposely, just one of those things. Ive seen a lot more blatent moves by other riders in the past!!.

Scott Nicholls In The Gps
Starman2006 replied to Paula's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Scott has the abillity, but as others have said, there is something missing from his game. Now whether its bottle or lack of speed or some other mechanical function only Scott knows. From a rider perspective Scott has good balance on a bike, but there's something stopping him from jumping that ditch, from being a good EL heatleader to being a top GP rider??. -
If anybody deserves to be world champion its Leigh Adams. If only for his loyalty to Britiish Speedway and his consistantcy!.
-
Then if you say someone can do a better job name them?. SCB why don't you get your clipboard out and stop watch and see if you can do a better job. Neil is only human, and know doubt others would also make miatakes, you have to make split second decisions and in the heat of the moment that is not easy, its ok us standing on the terraces screaming put so an so in but i defiy you to tell me that nobody else wouldn't make any mistakes!!. its not an easy job for any team manager, never mind being manager of the National side!!.
-
I haven't got my head up his wotnot as you put it, im mearly making a point, Neil can only do with what riders he has at his disposal, just the same as you can't turn selling plate racehorses in to Derby winners!. We have a base of riders who are still capable of holding there own on the world stage, and eventually there will be a crossover, where the old guard will start to drop out, and the kids hopefully, will start to show enough to take their places, as Bomber Harris showed in last years world cup. As for Mark Loram taking over the team manager mantle, that is still all up in the air, as nobody knows if Mark will continue to ride or retire, and im sure that Mark doesn't know himself yet!. But maybe Neil could do with a righthand man, if i had to recomend somebody other than Mark, then Havvy would have to be high on the list!!. And yes, i can spell Because, that was a technical error!.
-
Do yourself a favour, go and play with the traffic on the M4, or take a long jump of a short pier!. Neil does a very good job with the riders that he has at his disposal. And just in case you haven't noticed because you can't see the light of day, the future of British speedway is getting brighter and better with some of the young lads coming through!.
