  2. I felt he went down like a girl . However you are right, he'd been stuffed going into the corner, was out of control and Bomber only clipped his front wheel, but it was enough for him to attempt his swan dive....more like Ugly Duckling though, it was so obvious, but it was enough to get Bomber excluded, and yes Nicki should not have been excluded.
  3. Can anyone tell me how Danny King got on please?, I see Tobi Kroner was 7th. Many thanks
  4. Doubts over Batchelor riding: http://www.sportowefakty.pl/zuzel/2009/03/...iza-batchelora/
  5. That's going to be a bit difficult for 4 of us from Ipswich, as ours have been arranged through the supporters club
  6. Hopefully he won't have a choice, and perhaps he will retire gracefully, sooner rather than later
  7. Olly rode really well. Article from www.worldspeedway.com/ The 2008 Speedway Season came to an end this evening at Foxhall Stadium with the Anglian Willhire 16 Lap Classic meeting which resulted in a win for the former Ipswich star Scott Nicholls. There was one change to the programmed line-up with Edward Kennett forced to withdraw through illness and his place was taken by the Kings Lynn rider Chris Mills. The young Pole Dawid Stachyra was making his debut in the competition having been programmed to ride in last year’s event but then having to withdraw. In the qualifying heats Rory Schlein was the top scorer with eleven points whilst Robert Miskowiak displayed a return to form with ten. Olly Allen and Scott Nicholls both scored eight meaning that those four riders would line up in the grand final on the rear grid. Piotr Swiderski and Troy Batchelor both scored seven points whilst Kevin Doolan, Dawid Stachyra, Steve Johnston and David Howe all scored five. On a countback system however it was Stachyra and Howe who went through to join Swiderski and Batchelor on the front grid in the final. The forecast rain had been falling on and off through most of the meeting and this led to the Consolation Final due to be run over six laps to be cancelled. Fortunately the rain eased in time for the 16 Lap Classic Final. The eight riders all safely negotiated the first turn of the sixteen circuits and in the early laps Rory Schlein moved up through the field and appeared on course to win the meeting outright. Disaster struck the young Australian however midway through the race when he was forced to drop out with engine failure. Troy Batchelor had led the race from the start and appeared to be riding hard the whole way. Olly Allen was in second place with Scott Nicholls steadily gaining ground. With five laps to go Nicholls went around the outside of Allen but seemed far too far behind Batchelor to catch him. Nicholls appeared to be conserving his equipment for the finish rather trying to peg back Batchelor, as he knew that could finish second to the Australian but still win the title overall. Cruel fortune then struck Batchelor on the very last bend of the final lap when he ran out of fuel and Nicholls swooped past, with Batchelor frantically paddling his way home for second with Dawid Stachyra third. This all meant that in the final reckoning the overall winner of the meeting was Scott Nicholls from Troy Batchelor with Olly Allen third. Track Announcer Kevin Long in his final meeting suggested to Scott Nicholls that experience may have played a part in his victory and the Great Britain captain replied “yes, it seemed better for me to ride sensibly rather than go flat out all the way and it paid off. We have all had a hard night with the weather but it has been fun and noone has got injured at the end of the season which is important”. Scott Nicholls therefore recorded his third win in the Competition and now moves up to join Phil Crump and Jason Crump who have all won the meeting three times still two short however of the all time leader Chris Louis with five victories. Scorers: Scott Nicholls 24, Troy Batchelor 19, Olly Allen 18, Robert Miskowiak 16, Rory Schlein 15, Dawid Stachyra 15, David Howe 11, Piotr Swiderski 7, Kevin Doolan 5, Steve Johnston 5, Chris Schraam 1, Chris Mills 0, Scott Campos (reserve) 0.
  8. But unfortunately HS, he is contracted to Eastie until October 31st 2008, and then Coventry will have first call on his services, so I'm sure no announcements tonight I'm afraid, unless it's Schrammy of course or JoJo.
  9. This is marvellous news, taken from today's Evening Star: Special meeting raises £8,000 for Kim ELVIN KING STRICKEN speedway rider Kim Jansson has benefited to the tune of £8,000 after a special meeting was held for him at Foxhall Stadium last Thursday. And the young Swede, who is confined to a wheelchair after breaking his back in a racing accident in his home country in August, has expressed his thanks. “I want to thank everybody who turned out, and for their generosity,” said Jansson, who rode for the Witches for six years up to 2007. Gillian Webb, who along with her husband Clive is one of the main organisers of the rider's benefit fund, said: “I took several rucksacks containing £8,084 to the Nationwide Building Society in Felixstowe on Friday,” said Mrs Webb. “And I was grateful to Gemma Castell at the Building Society for spending the time to count all the money out. “I would like to add my thanks to everybody, from the Ipswich management, the riders, sponsors and fans who helped turn last Thursday into such a successful occasion. “And the fund raising will continue throughout the winter,“ The Evening Star Witches have no meeting this Thursday, with the next action at Foxhall being a four-team tournament of Thursday week.
  10. Taken from today's EADT: Paralysed Jansson has no regrets 02 October 2008 | 12:00 ELVIN KING KIM Jansson has no regrets about devoting his life to speedway despite being confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life. A special meeting for the 27-year-old former Ipswich Evening Star Witches rider takes place at Foxhall Stadium tonight (start 7.30pm), and his parents are coming over for the occasion. Jansson was paralysed from the chest down following a crash in his native Sweden in August, and he said today: “I would do everything the same all over again. “I have no regrets and have loved my life. I will work this out.” And typical of his approach to life he says that he is more fortunate than some. He went on: “In a strange way I feel lucky. There are people in hospital with me who can only blink. “And those who have seen my crash say that I went head first into the fence. “I could easily have broken my neck, instead of my back.” Jansson says that it is the support of so many people that has helped him come to terms with his injuries. This week he spent a few hours at his parents' house to acclimatise to life once he leaves hospital, and he says that his thoughts tonight will be centred on England. “It has been tough some days, and the support I have received through cards, messages and financial help has helped me get through,” said Jansson. “I have to stress this, and I want to take this opportunity to thank everybody in Ipswich from the management and officials to the team and, most importantly, Witches supporters. “I have to accept what has happened and keep on fighting, and it is too soon to decide what my future will be. “After a few weeks you can tell after this type of injury how you are going to spend the rest of your life, and there are not going to be any improvements for me.” Jansson is not bitter over his accident, but feels it is sad that it needed an injury like his to improve safety regulations at Swedish League tracks. “Air fences are going to be installed and this is a start,” he added. “You should not have to risk your life every time you race a speedway bike. It is a sport, after all, and the potential sacrifices should not be that high. “In Formula One, they have horrendous crashes, yet the drivers just walk away these days. Similar safety provisions should be made in speedway. When you hit trouble on a speedway track there is no outlet. You have no way of reducing the power quickly. You have no way of reducing the impact. “But I have been racing motor bikes for 20 years and it was my destiny that I would end up like this.” Jansson, who hopes to come over to Ipswich before long, is grateful for the riders taking part tonight, and in particular Witches favourite Chris Schramm, who is to have most of his body hair shaved off after being inundated with 'sponsors' pledging money for Jansson. From the original teams for tonight's meeting, Tobi Kroner (broken finger) and Chris Harris (rib injury) have been replaced by Leigh Lanham and Olle Allen. Two-times world champion Jason Crump has also been forced to withdraw late from the Jansson select side but Scott Nicholls returns to Foxhall to complete the Evening Star Witches side.
  11. And more bad news on line up, taken from Witches forum: Evening Star Ipswich Witches Press Release Unfortunately Jason Crump has had to withdraw from the meeting tomorrow evening. He is now having to fly to Denmark from Sweden tomorrow with two engines that need attention for the Polish play offs at the weekend. He apologises for his late withdrawal and has agreed to donate one of his Kevlar race suits to be auctioned to raise funds for Kim at a later date. Ipswich Team Manager Pete Simmons said “after spending a number of hours on the telephone over the last few days/hours trying to find a replacements for the absent riders we must thank Oliver Allen, Leigh Lanham & Carl Wilkinson for all stepping in at very short notice to take part in this Benefit meeting with all proceeds going to Kim”.
  12. Full line up with amendments in my siggy. Entrance is as per normal £15 etc., and season tickets are valid apparently, obviously accompanied by a large donation , to any of the Kim things on sale. Thanks Badge
  13. Taken from today's Evening Star: Foxhall to stage benefit meeting for Kim FOXHALL Stadium, Ipswich is to stage a Kim Jansson Benefit meeting on Thursday, October 2. The teams will be Ipswich versus a Kim Jansson Select side. Six-rider teams will compete over 15-heat match plus a champion of the evening second half. The meeting is being sponsored by Brian & Pete Simmons of Sano UK, Gordon Holloway of Parkside Transport, Brian Clay of Plusdot Computer Services and Clive Webb of GC Webb & Son Builders. All proceeds from the evening will go to the Kim Jansson Fund. Jansson was left paralysed after crashing in Sweden.
  14. Can I add my voice to the coming up to tapes music....what was that all about, 3 tunes intros all played at the same time , just need a fanfare of some sort, then at least if you had snuck off to the loo or to get drinks, food, you could at least identify when the next race was about to start....just my opinion you understand. Also can't stand those cheesy, Wonderful Copenhagen, Wizard of Oz type themes, but I think the Land of Hope and Glory and Rule Britannia bit when all the crowd (of Brits) were waving their flags in time to the music was brilliant.
  15. Something not quite right with Jarek ATM I reckon, family bereavement aside that is. He looked very pale, last week at Ippo
  16. I thought Bomber said that Hans and he had a problem, as well as Hans and Freddie, not Bomber and Freddie And Rob, no-one is saying that Dribble did it intentionally, just that Freddie should not have been excluded For you to call Freddie names, is rather pathetic TBH, and don't go blaming your cold on your total biased viewpoint.
  17. Oh was she the one with all the teeth , and the one with the yellow wig....thought that was a transvestite TBH Ooops just seen Hansfan's reply lol!!! SNAP
  18. No disputing the fact that Bomber and Nicholls are good solid BEL riders, but that is all I'm afraid, they just cannot seem to cut the mustard on the World stage and are found wanting everytime. Time as has already been said, to let others have their chance, from whatever nation they come from. It's ridiculous to say that the 2 Brits have to be in it for the sake of Cardiff, people don't just go to Cardiff to see those 2 do they . Anyway we would have a British wildcard there. And as for Tai, when Johnno interviewed him the other night on TV, I'm sure he said that "he was born in Scunthorpe and you can't get anymore British than that"!!
  19. Good GP I felt tonight, and big well done to Tomasz. Must admit bad decision by ref over Dribble/Lindgren, no way should Freddie have been excluded, still justice was served when Dribble was excluded. (not saying it was dirty or anything, but Dribble definitely went into Freddie ) Roll on Cardiff.
  20. With that first team Rob, I don't think you need worry about the 2nd team . I'm with Star Lady and Spook. Blood those youngsters this year, we are not going to win anything this year, so get some mileage in those youngsters. Kennett Woffinden Allen King Wright.
  21. I think you will find that it does : http://www.british-speedway.co.uk/news.php?extend.1490
  22. Oh Lordy....this was in the local paper: OPERATION Stack is again in place today in Felixstowe Suffolk. Lorries stacking up at the Port of Felixstowe caused by Danish lorry drivers seeing a queue at the checkouts at Tesco and thinking it was Johnno's testimonial ticket queue so have parked up and joined, as they want to guarantee they can get some tickets. Apparently there is a big demand for them in Denmark and so they have been sent over to get some. Bit difficult at work though as there are now about 100 drivers queueing in the store, and it's making it very difficult for the shoppers to get their trollies round the store.
