Line up now updated to include Stuart Robson -
In the old days, riders didn't "breakdown" on the way to riding for their country . When it was found out that Danny was not fit to ride, Schrammy dropped everything at 11am to answer the call from Rob Lyon, and he rode with the passion (ok not a like for like replacement for Danny) that we want to see of riders representing their country

Probably the reason the meeting was held at Foxhall, was because Chris Louis arranged it all , he's hardly likely to have gone to all that much trouble to let another track have it is he?? I'm afraid I don't have a programme so can't comment on it, however I can understand your annoyance, the announcer... Radio Suffolk's finest

Sadly you will always get planks at every track, seems like you had the misfortune to find ours . The majority of Ipswich fans really rate Chris Holder, and to balance the argument would probably not support Lewis Bridger (for obvious reasons!!) so must have been a one off. Apologies from Foxhall Heath. Sadly Kevin decided last season that it would be his last due to work commitments and the fact that he had done the presenting for 11 years, but in truth he is a hard act to follow, and as he is most definitely a one off, things have had to change.

And Lewis Bridger failed to turn up, alledgedly broke down on route. Not a bad meeting, and up until heat 13 it was a close run thing, but as expected the strong Aussie squad were just too good. Eddie Kennett and Ben Barker were the stars of GB at the start of the meeting, Tai really doesn't ride Foxhall all that well, but started strongly, however when the Aussies got into gear he struggled a tad. Chris Holder really wasn't at the races, and he clipped the fence in one race and unfortunately took out James Wright. Schrammy obviously didn't score as well as Danny would have done, but gave us the best race of the night with Cory Gathercole, with Cory beating him to 2nd place, but no lack of effort from him, and it was so nice to have him back in the pits again. Darcy hmmmmmm taken from speedway updates: GREAT BRITAIN = 38 1. Edward Kennett - 3,1,1,3,3,1 = 12 2. Ben Barker - 2*,3,EF,0,0 = 5+1 3. R/R (For Lewis Bridger got 9 points tonight) 4. Chris Schramm - 1,0,0,1 = 2 5. Tai Woffinden - 3,2,3,3,0,0 = 11 6. James Wright - 3,2,1 WITHDRAWN = 6 7. Joe Haines - 1,0,0,1,0,0 = 2 AUSTRALIA = 52 1. Chris Holder - EX,3,EX,1* = 4+1 2. Darcy Ward - 1,1,1,2 = 5 3. Rory Schlein - 2,2,3,2,2* = 11+1 4. Cameron Woodward - 0,1*,2*,3 = 6+2 5. Troy Batchelor - 2,3,3,2,3 = 13 6. Ty Proctor - 2,2*,3,2* = 9+2 7. Corey Gathercole - 0,1*,1*,2* = 4+3

Not heard any change in the lineups at 3.30 this afternoon, the gates will open at 6.30pm and a collection for Riders benevolent fund tonight too. Glad it's not on Sky TBH, we want lots of fans to attend, and if on Sky any sensible fan would stay in, in the warm Really looking forward to this meeting, hope to see lots of you there. Editted to add, this taken from today's EADT: King faces GB fitness battle Last updated: 15/10/2009 15:34:00 IPSWICH'S Danny King is fighting to be fit for tonight's Test Match at Foxhall Stadium between GB U25s and Australia U25s. The Witches skipper fell awkwardly on a shoulder at the weekend and had to pull out of last night's challenge meeting at Poole after just one race.

And more promotion for this event: Further press release issued today: Ipswich Speedway are pleased to offer a free programme to any fans that present a valid season ticket from any Elite, Premier or National League team for the upcoming Great Britain v Australia U25 Test Match being held at Foxhall Stadium on the 15th October start time 7.30pm. This meeting looks like being the most competitive team meeting of the season in this country, and is an all too rare opportunity to see the mainstay of our National squad in action together. Rob Lyon has certainly made an impact in his first season as National Coach and in picking the Aussies for this test has picked the most exciting and possibly the toughest opposition possible. Commenting on the offer John Louis said, “We are very excited and honoured to be staging a meeting of this calibre and the thought of two such young and determined sides going head to head with National pride at stake is a mouth-watering prospect. We have held admission prices and offered a programme to all regular Speedway fans to encourage as many people as possible to get behind Team Great Britain as they do battle with one of the strongest Nations in World Speedway.”

The line ups have been announced for this mouth watering Test Match and are taken from Ipswichspeedway.com: Ipswich Speedway are proud to announce the team selections for the Great Britain v Australia U25 Test Match being staged at Foxhall Stadium on the 15th October, start time 7.30pm. Respective National team bosses Rob Lyon and Craig Boyce have selected their strongest sides available and both are clear on exactly what is at stake when these sides hit the track in three weeks time. Former international and Australian boss Craig Boyce said “It was devastating to miss out on World Cup Gold like we did, so this young team are looking to serve a little reminder to the poms and the rest of the speedway world, exactly what they have to contend with over the next few years. They have the perfect roll model in current championship leader Jason Crump.” New Great Britain boss Rob Lyon who came so close to taking his team of youngsters all the way to the World Cup Final this year was measured in his response saying “I can understand where Craig’s coming from and this is just the sort of meeting we both need to bring the best out of our sides. Even though it's still early days for me in the job, make no mistake about it, I have a very capable side who are extremely proud to wear the Union Jack and it is going to be one heck of a battle out there.” Great Britain 1. Edward Kennett 2. Ben Barker 3. Lewis Bridger 4. Danny King 5. Tai Woffinden 6. James Wright 7. Joe Haines Australia 1. Chris Holder 2. Darcy Ward 3. Rory Schlein 4. Cameron Woodward 5. Troy Batchelor 6. Ty Proctor 7. Cory Gathercole 28, Sep, 2009

Has Sky Had Enough Of The Gp
Badge replied to nibs's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
For some people it's not convenient to watch at 6 o/c in the evening, so we sky+ it to watch it when it is convenient, and being one of those that had to sky+ the first meeting with the red button, sadly it wasn't until late on the Sunday evening that I found I only had 16 heats and by then it was too late to record the later showings. The last GP I was working at Blenheim Horse Trials so once again had to rely on Sky+, luckily my son realised it was only programmed for 1 hour, so recorded the Sunday morning showing. The Italian GP is on Sky Sports Xtra at 7 o/c and seems to be on for 3 hours, and once again I will be Sky+ as it's ITFC v Newcastle at 5.30 on BBC as well, so will see if it goes interactive again tomorrow. At least when you sky+ you can fast forward all the boring inane talking that goes on, snd even some of the racing -
Whilst I agree that Zorro qualified by right, how will he enhance the GP's , at least Scott and Bomber are heat leaders

Chris, as I said you are entitled to your opinion, and your reasons for not coming tonight. My argument (if it is an argument as such ) is that tonight's line up could possibly be better than the last 2 elite league meetings on show at Foxhall, for entertainment etc. I'm sorry if you feel I have been arrogant or rude, that was not my intention, however I felt I had to put the view accross from the promotion angle in that a meeting is going ahead tonight, something that we would have welcomed during June/July. Anyone who puts their hands in their pockets are to be thanked warmly, and I know money is hard to come by at the moment, but your reason for not attending tonight wasn't as clear (or I read it completely wrong probably) as your explanation above. So I hope we haven't fallen out over this, as we Ipswich fans are the best Daisy this is from EADT today: Wilkinson's Elite League gamble ELVIN KING Last updated: 13/08/2009 09:49:00 IPSWICH Witches star Carl Wilkinson has revealed that he is virtually riding for fun in the Elite League. The 28-year-old, who has been scorching to a succession of good scores for the Witches from a reserve berth, doubles up at Foxhall with his Premier League club Scunthorpe. But without financial backing he is spending out as much as he is getting in to remain competitive at the top level. Wilkinson is one of a limited number of English riders brave enough to put his helmet in the ring to try and escape the comfort zone that is the lower division and make it to the top of the speedway ladder. Great Britain's standing on the international scene is as low as it has ever been with their two representatives in the world title Grand Prix series - Scott Nicholls and Chris Harris - struggling to make any impact. The structure of the shale sport in this country needs a radical upheaval and Wilkinson says it could be 10 years before a British-produced rider makes a serious challenge for the world title again after Stowmarket-based Mark Loram won in 2000. “If I sat down and worked it out my income would not be far different whether I rode in the Elite League or not,” said Wilkinson. “I could earn as much just riding for Scunthorpe. “You need a heavy investment in machinery to be any good in the top flight and things I can get away with at Premier League level I cannot with Ipswich. “It is sad that there is such a low investment in producing British riders. “On the continent good sponsors enable youngsters to have good equipment and many have training facilities they can use every day. “I have a good sponsor or two and they are around, but we badly need more to come onboard and help. “The Elite League is not unreachable for someone like me, but it would need more financial backing. “We are 10 years too late, but training schools are now starting up at places like Buxton and I have been helping youngsters at Scunthorpe. “It could be 10 years down the line that we see British riders coming through again.” Wilkinson maintains one engine suitable for Ipswich meetings, and he reveals that it was a gamble to try and improve himself by taking on the big boys. “It was a gamble, and there is so much planning to do getting bikes ready, having to make the most of any rare two or three day breaks,” he added. “If not it does your head in. I have no alternative than to be virtually a full-time rider although I do some engineering work and sometimes spend a day working on fishing boats near my home.” Wilkinson, David Howe and Witches No.8 Jerran Hart were originally included in tonight's Anglian Pairs meeting at Foxhall Stadium (start 7.30pm) but Scunthorpe now have a fixture. Ipswich stars Scott Nicholls and Robert Miskowiak also have other commitments, but the Foxhall faithful will have a chance to see former Witches Chris Schramm, Shane Parker, Tomas Topinka and Tom P Madsen in action. Witches skipper Daniel King makes his return after injury and will partner his brother Jason. There will be normal admission prices with the 'Kids Go Free' offer applying. Tonight's expected field: C Schramm and S Parker, D and J King, T Topinka and J Graversen, T Kroner and D Stachyra, T Batchelor and J Haines, S Robson and T P Madsen. -

Your opinion is as valid as anyone's but to put this into perspective for a minute, so which PL teams have £10 for entrance fee??? I was under the impression that most PL tracks charge £13/£14 entrance, added to which we have 4 current witches riders, 3 KL riders, Jason, Shane and Tom P all decent PL riders. So no out and out ride off into the distance riders, the added bonus of local rivalry and the return of Shane Parker...all I can say on this lovely sunny day that it will be your loss. We all moaned about the 5 weeks no speedway at Foxhall and yet you feel unable to support an "open" event which everyone seemed to call for earlier in the season Yes -

Ipswich pair will be Scott Nicholls and Troy Batchelor, due to Danny King's injury. Troy is next in average.
