Taken from BSPA site: ELITE OPEN RIDERS CHAMPIONSHIP Wednesday September 22, 2010 INVITATIONS have gone out to riders for the Elite Open Riders Championship to be staged at Peterborough on October 16. The event is the last in the 2010 Super 7even series which has been a massive success both on and off the track. And series-co-ordinator David Hoggart has revealed how invitations have been sent to riders not currently racing regularly in the UK. He said: The final event in the series will feature the top rider from each team together with invited riders from the Grand Prix series who are not currently racing in the UK. Invitations have been despatched and the line up reveal will commence very shortly. We are expecting an absolute cracker and of course another bumper crowd. Peterborough is a fantastic venue for big meetings and you can purchase tickets on line at www.peterboroughspeedway.co.uk/onlinetickets or follow the links from the Peterborough home page. Admission prices are the usual for Elite shared events and in line with the series policy have not been increased since the outset way back in 2007. Fingers crossed they get Buster to prepare the track -

Shock horror Tas. can't believe you are not getting behind Danny Anyway, should be an excellent meeting, shame I'm going to miss it, had hoped it would be on Sky so I could have recorded it, subject to Sky not using the red button option, but never mind hey!! Good luck to Scott and Danny. -

British Final And Semi Finals

Well we can't dictate over the GP's but surely qualification is the fairest means, just take a rider in point, (whether you agree he should have been in the final or not) but Chris Schramm has NEVER been invited before this year to enter the qualification rounds (these are the one's for the lowly riders to ride in, as in years gone by we have had seeded riders straight through),when he was no worse than many of the other PL riders taking part, he wasn't included even when he was EL with us. Well I'm sorry but he had every right as a British rider to have a go, and this year they seemed to get it right, although I do agree that it was a bit unfair for Tai to have to ride in the Sheffield qualifier due to his GP commitments, but Lee Richardson got injured on the night, and so, like any other rider was unable to qualify. I was actually chuffed to see how much it mean't to them all last night, so perhaps there is some pride in British speedway after all Also, no-one has mentioned this, of course no rider could be accused of home track advantage last night either -
British Final And Semi Finals

I have to disagree with you saying it is a Mickey Mouse event now, OK GB haven't the wealth of talent of some other Countries, but last night we had the best qualifiers in the meeting, and there was no doubting the passion of the riders wanting to win this event, do you honestly think Bomber would have carried on after those 2 horrendous spills if he didn't want to win Scott was devastated not to win the Final and become British Champion again, and had the mike thrust under his nose almost straight after the race, I'm sure today or tomorrow when he has got over the disappointment he will look forward to Cardiff, but his aim last night was solely to become British Champion again, so I agree with you on your post. Don't we just love to look back!!! and everything was wonderful then , sadly those days have gone, and British riders are thin on the ground, but I enjoyed the meeting, apart from the shocking decisions by the ref re: Schrammy and Jordan that is, I thought everyone gave it a real go, and well chuffed with Danny's performace, bearing in mind he had an extra race too. I agree And again Why should Tai and Lee been seeded in, they didn't qualify...end of. Thought we all moaned about the fact that the top guys used to get seeded in and how unfair it was Yep my feelings too -

From the Official Club site before Xmas,.....sadly the "promoter" complained after the PL fixtures were announced, and TBF CL has been somewhat busy track laying just recently. -

And here's the article: TRACK ACE TOMASZ TOPS £1M ABOVE: Poland skipper Tomasz Gollob is the first rider to break through the £1m-a-year pay barrier 3rd February 2010 By Peter OakesYour Shout ( 0 ) POLAND skipper Tomasz Gollob is the first rider to break through the £1m-a-year pay barrier. The World Cup hero has not raced in Britain since turning out for Ipswich in 2000. But he’s still rated the highest-paid racer in the world with annual wages last season of £1,038,121. The figure is based on official on-track earnings in Poland and Sweden but doesn’t take into account his sponsorship deals. Gollob, 38, is ranked as the ninth highest-paid sportsman in Poland, with F1 ace Robert Kubica No.1 on £3,661,000. Gollob has been a national hero for more than a decade and finished runner-up in last year’s world championship. Australian world champion Jason Crump, 34, and Danish rival Nicki Pedersen, 32, are believed to earn in excess of £500,000 a season. taken from Daily Star

Personally I think they both deserve their own day in the limelight TBH, although what a meeting that would be. Anyway Mark could choose anywhere to have his meeting, whereas Loobie, it's got to be Foxhall. -
